An engaging and atmospheric novel set in a remote part of Scotland, with lots of secrets to uncover and twists to keep you guessing. The narrators of the audio version did a good job of keeping me interested for the most part, but there were a few times I got lost. I also have to say that I was a little disappointed once I figured out what Catherine's big secret was. In any case, I thoroughly enjoyed the setting, the narrators' accents, and the dark and creepy vibe of the storyline.

This audiobook started off so good! Two sisters who are polar opposites go on vacation in a remote Scotland cottage and weird things start to happen.
As the book went on, I found it harder to stay engaged. It was dragging on a bit. The characters weren’t great either. None of them. And it wasn’t a horrible shock when you found out who was behind the weirdness and a few of the other secrets.
All in all, it was decently entertaining to listen. The narrator’s were great. I listened at 1.75x and it was the perfect speed.

Anna and Catherine is sister but have little in common- in fact, are opposite.
Anna is a maverick- a free spirit does not stay in the same place for long.
Catherine is grounded, career-focused, settled and wants to stay in one place with her husband.
Their differences have kept them from being very close. However they decide perhaps a get-away together and staying in a remote cabin in the Scottish woods would bring them together.
They no sooner arrive when strange things begin to occur around their cabin- things such as damage to their car, scratching at the windows.
There are fears that these things may be connected to something that happened twenty years ago? Plus there is a girl with a baby who is acting strange and has them suspicious.
At first I struggled with the narrators and thought the performance was getting in the way of story- however, once I accepted the accent I discovered an interesting story and had me curious.
I love psychological thrillers and this once didn’t disappoint.
It truly wasn’t clear until the end.
Want to thank NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for granting me this early audio.

This thriller set in the Scottish wilderness features two estranged sisters coming together for a reunion where the two will have to confront their past. I really loved this, in a way I didn’t expect. The sister who was less serious, flitted from place to place is usually the one i don’t relate to, but I really could understand where she was coming from wanting to be closer to family. The other sister clearly was having some emotional issues from the very beginning. As a person who has undergone fertility treatments, it can be so heartbreaking even without underlying mental issues.

I had high hopes for this book and kept waiting for it to get better. Gist of the story: one woman has childhood trauma of sorts and it kind of affected her sister as well. The two somewhat estranged sisters decide to go on a vacation and find out some secrets while there. Well it’s really one secret that isn’t all that shocking. Had I not promised a review, I would’ve DNF’d this book.
Narrators were pretty good though. Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media, for the audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Interesting story. I did not understand where we were going until about 3/4 through the book. I liked it. The ending was quite good.

Elsewhere by Sarah Tierney follow two estranged sisters as they stay in a cabin in Scotland. There is so much that they have kept from each other and now it seems that the past has finally caught up. Catherine is the oldest of the sisters, now 38 and wanting to start a family with her husband Joe. Anna , the younger sister just wants to do as she pleases. Anna has recently moved back in with her parents after living in Canada. She is just drifting until something comes up. The sisters revisit the past and what is really going on with Catherine and her mental state. I would like to think both NetGalley and Bloodhound Books for an advance audio of this book.

When I started this book, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But by the second chapter, I was hooked. Don’t skip over this book!

I just finished Elsewhere by Sarah Tierney. What started out as a slow starter about two estranged sisters, who go on a trip to a secluded cabin in Scotland together turned out to be more complicated than your usual mystery thriller. This was more of a story about family and the dark hidden secrets a family can keep. There were a few moments that were creepy or off that made me go “hmmm.” I mostly tried to keep everything straight because the story unwinds from the perspectives of the two sisters. One sister is ordered and controlled. The other is a free spirit. The juxtaposition between these two characters, read brilliantly by Lorna Bennett and Kat Rose-Martin, really helped propel the story until the mystery starts to unravel. It unravels little by little rather than one big “ah-ha” which I appreciated. This was a smartly written mystery by Sarah Tierney and such a great read. Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for access to this galley.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
This was a complicated but great audiobook. I finished it in one day. Families can be very interesting and this one has quite its share of secrets and surprises. The ending was perfect and left you guessing a bit. I wouldn’t mind a follow up to this one to see how things go.
Great narration. Loved the atmosphere and setting of the remote cottage as well!

Told in first person, from the alternating perspective of two estranged sisters, the story kept me guessing about what was real and what was delusion! An engaging thriller that does more than just entertain, exploring the effect of mental illness on families.
Premise - two adult sisters who couldn’t be less alike go on vacation together in Scotland, when creepy things start happening.
I liked the split perspective style and found both sisters’ perspectives equally interesting! Fans of Frieda McFadden and Daniel Hurst will enjoy this one.
Some of the twists were unexpected, some less so. <spoiler> I saw the baby twist coming the moment Fleur was first mentioned, but it didn’t detract from the experience for me.
The readers did a great job, very engaging read! The charming accents didn’t hurt either.
Thanks, NetGalley and Dreamscape Media, for the audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The narration by Lorna Bennett and Kat Rose-Martin was superb and I could not stop listening. Author Sarah Tierney does a wonderful job with character development of the sisters, slowly revealing their past and its effect on their mental health and their relationship with each other in the present. The writing was really well done and I was kept guessing throughout. Pacing was steady. Fans of Freida McFadden, Riley Sager, and Ruth Ware would enjoy and I look forward to seeing more by Tierney in the future. I will be getting this in print, ebook, and eAudiobook format for our library.
Thank you to NetGalley, Sarah Tierney, and Dreamscape Media for an early copy for review.

This sounded so promising with the premise. I tried to listen to it but I just could not get into it at all. It is most probably that I am not connecting with the narrator. I might try reading this one instead.
