Many thanks to John Le Carre, Dreamscape Media, and NetGalley for a free audiobook in exchnage for my honest review.*
A classic spy novel set during the Cold War which makes a terrific read and which is a symbol of spy wars. This audiobook, read by Simon Vance, brings back the characters whose names have been known to Le Carre's fans for fifty years. I enjoyed the time spent with Smiley and other players although I have read this book at least three times. The anticipation and war of nerves were still present!

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy AUDIO by John Le Carre brings back in full force the uneasy detente that the Cold War really was. Everyone still had spies and spies still disappeared and died. The writing was superb, if a bit old-fashioned, but the dialogue cannot be beat. The entire story is told with dialogue: the missions, the disappearances, the love affairs. It is all there. What a blast from the past! Having both read the book and watched the movie, I consider this a most moving rendition.
The narrator is Simon Vance and he is a master. He is firm, cultured, and very astute sounding. A better choice for narrator could not be had. He made it flow beautifully even as he voiced different people with nuance rather than caricature.
I was invited to listen to Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy bu Dreamscape Media. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #DreamscapeMedia #JohnLeCarre #TinkerTailorSoldierSpy

At the 50th anniversary of the original publication of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy we have a new version unabridged audiobook beautifully narrated by Simon with a run time of 11 hours and 52 minutes. Thank you Dreamscape Media via NetGalley for the audiobook ARC, I have given my honest review.
As the book already existed I also had a digital copy while listening to it, there are many characters to keep track of. It was odd that through the first half of it, I had no idea what was going on except George Smiley moving around, sitting here and there, and having conversations. The funny thing is I watched the movie years ago... I had a fragile view of the story and It was good otherwise I would know what was going on at the end of it.
I mean I have no complaints. I will read other books in George Smiley Series, John le Carré writing style is different, and beyond that, we should know this is not a thriller spy book, or crime, or anything of that sort... Yes, there are spies, twists, lies, betrayals, and more of them all, it's about people, the psychological point of view of people.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is a classic cold war era spy thriller and the 5th George Smiley novel by John Le Carré. Originally released in 1974, this reformat and re-release in audiobook format from Dreamscape is due out 25th June 2024.
This is one of a handful of truly iconic spy thrillers from an author who literally shaped the entire genre. George Smiley is now sure beyond doubt that there's a mole in the highest levels of British Intelligence planted there and moving up the ranks for decades and his assignment is to root them out and remove the threat - permanently.
Released to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the original publication, this unabridged audiobook has a run time of 11 hours 52 minutes and is beautifully read by Simon Vance. He is classically trained with a well modulated RP voice and delineates the various accents and a range of ages very well. He's easy to listen to and does credit to the read. Sound and production quality are high throughout.
Five stars. Classic literature, very well done.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

In the height of the Cold War, it is obvious that there is a long-time Soviet mole operating at the top level of The Circus. George Smiley, who had been dismissed following the events of his last case, is once again approached by Control to see if he can ferret out the culprit. Thanks ever so much to NetGalley for the ARC/audiobook of this classic spy thriller originally published in 1974. Kudos as well to the perfect narrator for this tale.
