This is one of those plots that I typically would think felt too forced, but I should know to never doubt Sarah Adams. Girly writes the sweetest, sincere romances.
I ended up really loving this plot. Evie's passion is working and training service dogs. She herself suffers from epilepsy and has a sweet little companion by her side to keep her safe. When Jake's daughter sneakers into his email account to set up a meeting to get a service dog her own--she is also epileptic-- our plot starts to unfold. As I previously stated a plot like this can often feel forced, with plot devices that don't feel organic
Jake eventually comes around and gets on board with a service dog for his daughter and and that is when Evie enters their lives. It is cute, it is sweet, I loved it!
This was so cute! I loved the story and the narration was great also. Dual narrators in this book really made a difference and they both did a great job!

I adore Sarah Adams and being an introverted softie, her books have deeply resonated with and made me feel so seen, so I couldn’t wait to dive into her backlist titles as I (not so patiently) wait for her next upcoming release. I went into this book with such high hopes but sadly, it did not work for me.
The story was full of the charm and heart that Sarah infuses into her stories and I love how she always fills her entire cast with vibrant, endearing, and memorable characters.
Unfortunately, the banter between Evie and Jacob felt forced to me and their “flirty” jokes made me cringe - one of them suggested if they needed to send nudes as a thank you for dinner. It also made me extremely uncomfortable that Evie tried to get to know Jacob by snooping in his house - bedroom, closet, under his bed, and bathroom cabinets - because he was more reserved and she just “needed to stumble across the secret of who he is.” At one point Jacob said he was glad Evie snooped so she could get to know him… I really needed these two to talk!
While I didn’t connect with the story, I thought the narrators’ performances were well done
I love seeing Sarah’s growth and progression as a writer and while this story didn’t work for me, I’m looking forward to reading what she writes next!
Sarah Adams is always my go-to for a feel-good read, and I had already read this book a couple years ago. The narrators for this book were great, better than many I've listened to for rom coms in the past.
