What a perfectly wild way to continue this storyline! Like with the first book in the series, it gives Freida McFadden vibes with the twist and turns. The final chapter had me screaming. I cannot wait for the third (and final?) book of the series!

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

While on vacation (just getting around to posting the review!!) I finished the The Nurse’s Lie by Daniel Hurst, and like, can I just say, I totally should’ve read the first book! I mean, don’t get me wrong, it was fine as a standalone—like, it totally catches you up on what went down before—but I have this nagging FOMO that I missed out on some serious character bonding. You know what I mean?

So, the plot? LOVED it. It was super different and kept me on my toes the whole time. I’m always down for a story that isn’t just a carbon copy of everything else out there, and this one totally delivered. The twists and turns had me like, “Wait, WHAT?!” All the stuff I love!

As for the characters... meh, they were okay. Maybe if I had read the first book, I’d be more obsessed with the main two, but as it stands, I wasn’t completely hooked on them. Like, they were fine, but they didn’t give me that, “I’m totally invested in your life” vibe. Also hated their parents….

Oh, and this was my first time reading anything by Daniel Hurst, and honestly, his writing style gave me major Frieda McFadden vibes. So you know I’m already eyeing his *Doctor’s Wife* series! Next time, though, I’ll be starting from the beginning, because lesson learned, LOL.

Four stars from me! If you’re into thrillers with a fresh plot, def give this one a shot—just maybe start with the first book, unlike me!

The Nurse's Lie by Daniel Hurst is the second book in the excellent The Perfect Nurse series and what a cracking read this was. I just knew, if I start this book my kindle would be stuck to my hand........and it was!!!! This book was excellent, it was full of lies and secrets, with great twists and turns throughout that will have you turning your pages over quickly to find out what happens next.

This book can be read this as a standalone, but I do recommend you go back and read book one.......You will learn more about the characters especially the main character Darcy, who I love!

I highly recommend this book! Excellent read.

Big Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for my ARC.

I hadn't read the first of these books so off I trotted to Amazon to download the kindle edition and I'm so glad I did. The 2nd book carries on the story from the 1st. I'm not sure I would have fully understood the 2nd book had I not read the first one.

The stories are quite similar in what happens but the writing flows quite nicely. I liked this book but I didn't love it hence 3 stars.

This is a follow on to the first book and I’d say you do really need to have read book 1 first otherwise this could be really confusing, purely because it’s such a close follow up of the storyline.

It had short, snappy chapters which made the book easy to read but it just fell a little short for me, I think some of the scenarios were a bit far fetched and I couldn’t see it actually happening… which tbh is a good thing I guess!

Overall this was ok, definitely wasn’t a bad book and I know other people who have read it and loved it so I wouldn’t take this off your list as just because it didn’t hit the spot for me doesn’t me you’ll feel the same!

The book has ended on a cliffhanger! I am left hanging in suspense! What do I do now? Wow! Loved the book! Gripping, suspense, I am still at the edge of my seat. Cannot wait for the next book to see Darcy's next move. Loved, loved Darcy! Her circumstances have made her a killer, but I would see her as being more of a vigilante, since she acts in self-defense and she is the defender of the innocent and protector of her family. Daniel Hurst lets the reader get inside the protagonist's head, especially with Pippa. Oh my goodness, I was holding my breath when she described all her suspenseful, stressful moments. Everything felt so real and not at all like fiction, the way the author describes the experiences, stresses and strains of all the characters. I would for sure be recommending this book. Thank you so much to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

The Nurse's Lie is the second instalment in the Perfect Nurse series by Daniel Hurst continuing to follow Darcy in her new life far away from her family. In this new role, Darcy is asked to care for an older man who is slowly losing his memory, however, the occasional unsettling remarks he makes lead Darcy to question her new employer and his intentions. Her suspicions are confirmed when she follows him home one evening that she truly finds out what he is up to.

While I found the first book in this series to be more engaging, The Nurse's Lie still presents a well crafted narrative. The plot felt somewhat repetitive at times, yet it effectively maintained my interest given my investment in Darcy's character. The story continues to offer intrigue and suspense, making it a worthwhile read for those who enjoyed the first of the series and are eager to see what unfolds next.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

The Nurse's Lie is book 2 in The Perfect Nurse series.

A great sequel. It has everything I've come to expect from Hurst.

Lots of twists and turns, suspense and a few surprises.

I loved that the character of Joe wasn't portrayed as a worthless old man with dementia. His condition was told respectfully and he added depth to the story.

Can't wait to see what comes next!

Thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the arc.

This is the second book in The Perfect Nurse series. Pippa is still in Chicago, while Darcy is living in Florida. When Darcy escapes danger in Florida, she senses that Pippa is also in danger. She goes back to Chicago, but the police are looking for her. Will her and her family be safe?

A great sequel to The Perfect Nurse. It keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in return for my honest review.

I finished book 1 of this series about 2 months ago, and I was utterly shocked when I found out book 2 was going to be released on Aug 1st. Book 2 left me jaw dropped! If this pattern of release dates is any indication of possibly book 3 being released on Sep 1st, I am HERE for it! I figured it was going to be a series but did not anticipate it being released so close together, and I love it!

Book 2 follows the same 4 main characters in a twist of lies and family drama with a big touch of family support along the way.

This one was just okay for me. I do appreciate the ARC, but this one just seemed to drag. Some of the writing in this book is not the way people from Chicago speak and some geography is off. Not a big deal but it bugged me being from Chicago.

I really enjoyed this story and I loved how it carried on from “The Perfect Nurse”, continuing with the same fast pace. I really enjoyed the dual chapters in this book, switching between sisters Darcy and Pippa. This was a very clever way of doing the dual POV as I would get to the end of a chapter from Darcy, and immediately need to know what happened next with her, so I would blitz through Pippa’s chapter to get back to Darcy and vice versa! This meant I was reading for longer than I had planned in the evenings as I just couldn’t put the book down! Very talented writing.

The one bone I have to pick is the CLIFF HANGER !!

I need book 3 immediately!

I loved reading this book. I didn't read book 1 but yet it was easy to digest. It's a mild thriller. Definitely re reading again

3.5/5
A solid follow up to The Perfect Nurse.
I didn’t love Pippa as a co lead of the book. I found some of her chapters boring until action actually happened.
The stakes with Darcy seemed much more pressing.
The last 50 pages commutes me to reading the third book. I can’t believe the cliffhanger the book ended on.

Part two of this series was just as good as part one. In my world there is absolutely nothing better than a great who done it that leaves you breathless and wanting more. Another great read that I highly recommend.

The Nurses Lie, is the second book in The Perfect Nurse Series by Daniel Hurst it would be hard to do a summary for this book because anything I say would ruin the first books plot and that is definitely where you should start if you want to read this one, which is the second installment. If you have red book one then just know Pippa takes the lead and book two, Darcy is also in the book but she’s moved to a different part of the country for reasons anyone who has read the first book will know. OK let me just give you my opinion because this is getting hard book One was a thrilling plot twisty read and although the second book isn’t as heart palpitating Daniel hers definitely delivers he isn’t a best seller for nothing so if you’re thinking of reading this book and have read the first do give it a go you will not be disappointed. #NetGalley, #Bookoucher, #DanielHurst, #ThePerfectNurse,#TheNursesLie,

Darcy has created a new life for herself in Florida, now caring for Parker’s elderly father. But Parker is not all what he seems and Darcy can’t help but find the truth.
But Pippa is trying to keep it together, get in the good books of her husband and son whom she has neglected while trying to help her sister; Her parents also blame her for letting Darcy leave, but soon someone else will know what they did and the whole family will be in trouble.
This novel is told from a dual point of view of Pippa and Darcy, however, also takes on two separate narratives which intertwine towards the end.
I wanted to shout at both Pippa and Darcy as I feel both made serious mistakes and didn’t need to do what they did, I would have done things very differently but this only built the atmosphere for the novel and left me guessing to what would happen next.
This is a sequel and although Hurst gives a recount to the first novel. I would highly recommend reading the first novel.
This is a great follow-up to the first book and I look forward to the next.

As a sequel, it is very helpful to have read the Perfect Nurse before you read this story. This is a family with secrets…many secrets! This is a tension-filled story of survival. Fans of suspense will enjoy!

Daniel Hurst returns following The Perfect Nurse (The Perfect Nurse #1) with the second in the series—THE NURSE'S LIE.

The rip-roaring saga continues with the two sisters, Darcy (now in Florida) and Pippa (Chicago), and partners in crime, with more twists, thrills, chills, turns, suspense, and lots of fun in this entertaining popcorn thriller!

About...

From the first book, Darcy is back. She is on the run in South Florida (my neck of the woods), hired by a handsome male customer, Parker, at the coffee shop to work as a nurse to take care of his elderly father, Joe, age 73, in the early stages of dementia at his modern condo with other retirees.

Joe warns Darcy about his son, Parker. Darcy is on a mission to uncover Parker's hidden truths, a task that will lead her into a web of mystery and suspense.

What are Parker's motives? Does he have a dark side?

Pippa has given Darcy a notebook book to help her with her memories. She was in a car crash, she was told and was robbed of her memory.

She has given her strict instructions:
~Never watch the news
~Never come back home

They communicate via post office boxes. Darcy trusts her family to know best.

This story is told from the POVs of Darcy and Pippa. They both are dealing with new stresses while running from the cops.

Pippa, who has a husband and a four-year-old son, is distracted and worried about Darcy's accident. Her marriage is on the rocks, and she is stressed. She keeps secrets, hoping their crimes will not surface. She is her sister's best friend.

Something happened before Darcy's accident. Laurence and her colleague Eden were involved in a sinister turn of events while she was caring for Melissa, the wife. Things turned dark on the way to report a crime to the police. The crash that changed their lives. It was self-defense. But who would believe them?

Pippa, driven by her love for her sister, becomes her partner in crime, determined to keep her safe at any cost.

The police are looking for two women as persons of interest. The news is bringing back some of her memories. Pippa is trying to juggle their secrets from her husband and their mom and dad.

Darcy and Joe have more in common than they know. Darcy has amnesia, and Joe has memory problems. They make a good pair. I loved Joe!

Then Darcy realizes her notebook, which holds crucial information about her past and the accident, is missing. In the wrong hands, this could be devastating.

Pippa realizes her Dad found Darcy's diary pages hidden beneath the floorboards in Darcy's old bedroom. The mom calls and she is hiding someone in the study.

As the secrets close in and the bodies pile up, the danger escalates, keeping the readers on the edge of their seats.

From Florida to Chicago, both are off the run again. What will become of the two partners in crime? Will they be able to find one another and stay under the radar?

My thoughts...

Daniel, you certainly know how to entertain! In this wildly fun mystery series, with plenty of dark humor, the author cranks up the suspense from Florida and Chicago as we hear from nurses Darcy and Pippa (sisters and partners in crime). So much fun!

These two are in a heap of trouble, and now the parents are involved, so they have to let the parents in on all the bad stuff.

I loved Joe, and the drama between Parker, Irene, and Darcy in Florida was laugh-out-loud. Then you have Pippa, who steps up to the plate like a rock star to take care of all the loose ends in Chicago, now with the parents and hubby involved.

So will Pippa and Darcy be able to find one another? We will have to wait until Book #3 to find out! I am enjoying this fun series. Do not take it too seriously. It is meant to be fun, wicked, and wildly entertaining.

Recs...

This is for fans of the author and those of Freida McFadden, Kaira Rouda, Elle Cosimano (Finlay Donovan Series), Emily Shiner, K.L. Slater, and Miranda Rijks.

"The Nurse's Lie" is the second instalment in "The Perfect Nurse" series. Although I have read the previous book, I believe this one could also be enjoyed as a standalone novel. This instalment is fast paced, brimming with twists and turns that kept me captivated throughout.
