I love Daniel Hurst's books. This one didn't disappoint
I was hooked from the beginning
Thank you for the opportunity to review
I struggled to identify with the protagonists in this story and I think it made it hard for me to fully engage. I also hated the ethics questions in school where you had to decide between an ethical choice that would place a loved one in jeopardize or an unethical choice to save a loved one.
You might like this psychological thriller if you are willing to delve into those hard questions. This story doesn’t hold punches and definitely has some characters that are truly terrible people.
Kudos to the author for the hospital scene. I always wonder why other authors don’t turn off monitors…
Another good book by Daniel Hurst and sequel to The Nurse series. Fast paced story that gripped from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down. It was quite a tame psychological thriller in my opinion but a good book all the same. The ending was left on a cliffhanger so hopefully there will be more in this series. Bring it on!!
The Nurse’s Lie is part 2 of a two part series, following on from The Perfect Nurse. I love that these are to be released so close together with no waiting about like your usual book series meaning we can crack right on with Darcy’s story! I won’t give too much away since I’ve read this before release!
We pick up right where we left off in book one, and the dual POV allows a recap of what’s happened from Pippa (Darcy’s sister) and we get to know her a lot more in this book than the first, I do love a dual POV and Daniel executes this perfectly, interchanging between the stories of Pippa and Darcy. The two stories from each perspective run nicely alongside one another and leave us guessing with the door wide open for a third part of the story..
I love Daniel Hurst books! This one was very good, not as good as the first. I felt like it had a little too much detail reminding us what had previously happened but still kept me on the edge of my seat!!
I recommend preordering this one and read the first one if you haven’t yet!!
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.
This is the sequel to the Perfect Nurse by Daniel Hurst. This book is filled full of suspense and twists and turns at every corner.
I’m very grateful to Daniel Hurst, Bookoture, and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC of The Nurse’s Lie before it comes out august 1st, 2024
The Nurse’s Lie is the second book in Daniel Hurst’s series, The Perfect Nurse.
I found the plot interesting however I didn’t feel a real connection to the characters and it lacked the build up and twists I expect from a psychological thriller.
I would like to thank Bookouture, Daniel Hurst, and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Anything Daniel Hurst I will read. I loved seeing where Pippa and Darcy left off from the previous book. I enjoyed getting more information on Darcys accident and why It had happened. in true Daniel Hurst fashion I didn't see any of twists and turns coming. I read this book in one sitting because I just had to know what was going to happen. this was a perfect sequel.
This felt more like a drama than suspense to me. I didn't read the first book, so I don't know if that would have made any difference or not, but I did fine following everything that was going on. I read it quickly, but nothing made it stand out from other books.
I got the ARC from Netgalley. These opinions are my own.
Quick review: didn’t think book 2 could get better than book 1 but I was wrong!
This thriller book was very good and attention grabbing. I didn’t want to put the book down from the beginning to the end.
I wasn’t happy with the end but I guess that just means it has to be another book to the series coming soon. Well at least I hope so.
Definitely enjoyed this book! Thank you NetGallery for this advance copy. It was worth it!
Always a brilliant read. A cliffhanger ending - hope that means there’s another in the pipeline. Thanks for the opportunity to review this book @netgalley
The Nurse's Lie is the second book of The Perfect Nurse series, and it is just as captivating as the first. It can be read as a standalone, with the author providing a great backstory and previous details from the first book throughout this second book, however, I do recommend reading The Perfect Nurse first.
In this book, we pick up where we left off in the first book. Darcy has ran after committing something unspeakable, however she is still struggling with retrograde amnesia, and as a result, she knows not what she has done. She is out of Chicago and now living in Florida, caring for an elderly man who is in his early stages of dementia. He does, however, recall certain crucial information- his son is not who he appears to be and is hiding a terrible secret. Darcy, being the individual she is, takes it upon herself to find out this secret. Meanwhile, her family back in Chicago is harboring their own secrets, which Darcy has no idea of.
This book is a great follow-up to the first book, with our main character back on her own and in a completely different environment. I enjoyed the dual POV and dual settings, with both Darcy and her sister Pippa sharing telling their stories, however I didn't feel like this book was as gripping as their first. There is more going on, and the cliffhanger at the end has me anticipating another book, however I wasn't as jaw-dropped as I was by the first book. This book is still a great and entertaining read, especially if read after the first.
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture, and Daniel Hurst for this ARC!
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the editor for sending me an advance copy of this upcoming title. Your hard work and dedication to this project are truly commendable, and I am incredibly honored to have the opportunity to review it before its official release.
The depth and quality of this work are a testament to your meticulous attention to detail and your passion for bringing exceptional stories to life. From the engaging narrative to the well-developed characters, it's clear that a tremendous amount of effort has gone into every aspect of this book.
I am genuinely excited about this title and eager to share my thoughts and insights. Having the chance to read it in advance has been a wonderful experience, and I am confident that readers will be just as captivated by it as I am.
Thank you once again for this incredible opportunity. Your support and trust in my feedback mean a great deal to me. I look forward to continuing to work together and witnessing the success of this fantastic book.
Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for letting me read an eARC of The Nurse's Lie by Daniel Hurst.
This book was another fun time. It was on par with the first book and I liked it a smidgen more. It's not a literary masterpiece but it was quite a fun ride. It picks up soon after the events of the first book and carries on from then. It had some decent twists but it also had some predictable thriller tropes. This is perfect for a vacation or sitting next to a pool or at the beach. I highly recommend this book.
3.5 stars rounded up.
Darcy and her family are back. They are now dealing with the consequences of what happened. Darcy moved away but that doesn’t resolve the person who slipped away.
I felt like Darcy’s situation was a little far fetched. The situation back at her home would have worked without the additional storyline.
Thank you to Daniel Hurst, Bookouture, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a great second book in “the perfect nurse” series. It intertwines perfectly with the first book and picks up a few months after the ending of the first book. Boy does this book take you on a rollercoaster ride! You follow two different POV (Pippa and Darcy) and how there lives have been going since the end of the last book. But not everything is as it seems and boy it had such a nice twist to it, I can’t wait for the next book!
Another brilliant book from this author, a perfect follow on from number one in this series, so many twists.
The storyline was brilliant as always, just wondering how this family are going to continue in their escape.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this great ARC which I can thoroughly recommend and I look forward to number three in this Nurse Series.
Darcy is a killer. But, she can’t remember doing it. She has traumatic amnesia.
Pippa, Darcy’s sister, helped her cover up the crime. Pippa knew the police would want to question Darcy so she told Darcy to leave town. And not to watch the news.
Darcy is in Florida and takes a job as a caregiver for Joe who has early signs of dimensia. But, Joe says his son is dangerous. So, Darcy decides to investigate and her world gets turned upside down.
In Chicago, Pippa’s world gets turned upside down, too. And their actions have gotten their parents in trouble.
Fast paced, and so much going on I was totally into it. But then, I was left hanging at the end.
Is there a book 3?? Ack, I cannot wait to find out what happens to Darcy, Pippa and their family.
RECOMMEND I need to find more by this author!
Thank you #NetGalley for the complimentary copy of #TheNurse’sLie in exchange for an honest review.
Many thanks to netgalley, the author and bookouture for approving my request to read this book.
The Nurses Lie follows on from The Perfect Nurse and we see Darcy now living a new life caring for an elderly gentleman called Joe after being hired by his son Parker.
Joe has memory issues and Darcy is still suffering from amnesia after her accident in the previous book but it seems she's not the only one with secrets.
This story is full of secrets and lie and for me was a real page turner, I loved revisiting the previous characters and really enjoyed Pippa's story in particular.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this psychological thriller which most definitely kept me gripped, I can't wait for the next one!
This was the second instalment of this series and I recommend reading the nurse first so that you have a full idea of what is going on. This is a dark psychological thriller that makes you keep wanting more and I read this in practically one sitting.
Like the previous book this one has lots of shocks and surprises and keeps the reader on their toes at the turn of every page.
I am looking forward to the next instalment to see where this book goes next.
