This manual is a clear, thoughtful and comprehensive exploration of Intuitive Eating. Its target audience is health care professionals – both clinicians and researchers. With so many outside influences surrounding body image, weight, and diets, this approach is a gentle redirection inward – to re-establish trust with the inherent wisdom of the body.
Initially, the focus is an explanation of this progressive approach to a new paradigm in nutrition and body awareness. The strengths and limitations of the theory based on current research studies is well documented (and there is an extensive Reference section at the end of the book).
The ten principles of Intuitive Eating are explained and subsequently become the focus of individual chapters for client/group sessions. These include:
Reject Diet Culture; Honor Your Hunger; Make Peace with Food; Challenge Food Police; Feel Your Fullness; Discover the Satisfaction Factor; Cope with Your Emotions with Kindness; Respect Your Body; Movement – Feel the Difference; and Honor Your Health- Gentle Nutrition
The author has included a wealth of information and incorporated much flexibility into the formatting of working with clients. There are steps suggested for the progression of each session as well as exercises to deepen the client’s self-awareness and understanding. This is a great resource for individuals committed to utilizing the principles of Intuitive Eating into their professional practice.
My thanks to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for the privilege of reviewing this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

There was tons of great information in this book, I think it will be a great resource to go back over. It was super in depth and the info seems to be current. A fair bit went over my head at first but I’m finding that going back over it is helping a great deal. I really hope that I can get to grips with this concept as I like what I am reading and understanding so far. I think I will learn a great deal from this book. I would definitely buy a hard copy to keep handy.

There is such a great deal of important information in this book but as a lay person it is taking me some time to get through it while processing the information. All good so far though.

This book was much above my head. It was not written as me as the target audience, but I was able to glean some valuable advice. I think it is very much needed in the medical community

When I was browsing the list of of requestable books, this caught my eye. I am someone that could greatly benefit from this treatment manual--I'll leave it at that. Tons of great concepts and references, I absolutely loved this read.
