Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this ARC audiobook for an honest review.

I loved this book! Savannah and Hez both were broken by a shared tragedy. Their marriage crumbled under the depth of grief as Hez turned to the bottle. Now Hez wants a second chance as he has finally got his life together...just as Savannah is finally ready to let the marriage and her pain go. Hez must win back her trust and show her he is a changed man even as Savannah fights against the softening of her heart. Oh, the heartbreak of these two characters who despite it all still love each other. This was more than a second chance romance. There is murder and mystery galore as Savannah turns to Hez to get her out of legal trouble as she is accused of murder. Twists and turns throughout! My only complaint is now I have to wait for book two...sigh.

This is a book you absolutely must read to the very end. A real zinger awaits the reader!

The characters and plot are interesting and intriguing enough to keep the readers' attention. The narrator does an excellent job of making the voices different enough to distinguish the characters. This is an enjoyable book that ends with a real WHAT?!?!?

When I started this book I was prepared to not like it because the first few chapters were very hard to follow as far as who is who and what they do for the story. But it soon absolutely redeemed itself! I hated when I had to put this book down to return to real life.

Many of the whodunnit books can be so slow moving that you can start to lose interest but this was pretty fast paced and extremely enjoyable.

I received a free copy of this digital book from NetGally.

Colleen Coble is one of my favorite Christian writers. Her stories are always so good and clean. I thought this was a good, fast- paced story. The loss of a child was a little too much for me though and it kept coming up. Just hard to add that.

This amazing book is the first in a series. The characters are all well developed, mysterious at time and very intriguing. I love the storyline with its twists and turns that ends on a cliff hanger.
If you have read any of Colleen Coble's other books then you know what you are in for. If you are new to the author and like a good captivating Christian based mystery with a touch of romance then this one is for you!
Thank you NetGalley and Harper Collins Christian Publishing for my advanced copy in exchange for my honest feedback

Wow! Loved this story! And oh boy, what a twist!!
So looking forward to book #2!

Savannah and Hez were so in love…and then tragedy pulled them apart.
Not only that, but Hez turned to alcohol to help him heal…
On the brink of divorce, with Hez finally cleaning up his act, he turns to Savannah looking for a second chance. She immediately shoots him down.

BUT, 24 hours later she is begging for his help as she is accused of a life changing crime.

As he is working to clear her name, another shoe drops…and he is then employed to help Savannah’s sister, Jess.

The more time Savannah and Hez spend together though, the more she realizes that divorcing him may not be her best option…

This book has several twists and turns!
Some are delightful! Some, not so much…

And the whole story revolves around Tupelo Grove University…which has been in the girls’ family for many years, and they both currently work there.
Savannah teaches. Jess is the CFO.

AND…weird things have been going on there. Artifacts seem to be disappearing. And then there’s the murder aspect… 😮

This is a Christian based book, so there are some references to Jesus and prayer, but nothing overwhelming. And honestly, it’s nice to hear this interspersed in the book. ❤️

This one will keep you glued to the story, hanging on for dear life, and guessing until the last page. And, there will be some MOUTH HANGING WIDE OPEN MOMENTS!

So looking forward to book #2!

Edited review: First, let's talk the narration and then the story. I read the book first and then I listened. Let me just say the narrator nailed it! The book on its on was fantastic, but add the narration and it took the novel to an even higher level. The narrator brought the book to life for me. I could see the scenes in my mind's eye and felt the emotions of it. This trio of writers and narrator was a win win for me and I think it will be for any book lover of romantic suspense!

Now, the story review.

“God doesn’t always call us to understand, though, does he? But he always calls us to trust him."

When I saw the collaboration of Colleen Coble and Rick Acker writing a book, I knew I had to get my hands on it. This book was everything I was hoping for and more. The setting was in the gulf in Alabama and some of Coble's characters from Pelican Harbor made appearances. Yay! Also, a character from Acker's book made an appearance as well! Double yay! This book as you would imagine has legal suspense, mystery, and a second-chance romance!
Twists and turns like crazy! The end blew my mind! I absolutely loved it and look forward to more books from this dynamic duo!!
*I was given. A copy of this book by Thomas Nelson Publishers and, this is my honest opinion.

The title is appropriate for this book. Many things are hidden, both positive and negative.

The story is set in a university and feels like a great fall read. This is the first book in a series.

Touches on addictions, cheating, murder, divorce, death of a child, money laundering, and more.

Thank you to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson, and Zondervan Fiction Audio for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.

Book Review: What We Hide
Colleen Coble and Rick Acker ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to Thomas Nelson Fiction, Harper Collins Christian Audio, Colleen Coble and Rick Acker, and NetGalley for an early review audiobook. All the opinions shared in this review are my own.

Savannah Webster and her husband, Hez, are separated when suddenly her world tilts on its axis again. She is being eyed for murder. This time she needs Hez’s help. Things get all kinds of crazy, and fast. They will have to learn to work together to navigate these crazy waters. We meet several quirky characters such as Boo Radley, the gator.

I enjoyed Karen Peakes narration of this audio book. Her voice lent the book more gothic ambiance, in my opinion. I would say her voice definitely fit the characters. She allowed me to get into the flow of the book. She indicates each new chapter as she starts it. I think this is a great book to listen to on audio.

This was a great book! This story had several twists. I thought I had figured it out but then twist happened and I decided I was wrong (or mostly wrong). However, the book ends on a cliff hanger that basically proves my original theory. The twists were done in a unique way. The deeply southern gothic feel of the story was also great.

There were a few things aggravating enough to keep me from rating it five stars. The first was the lack of communication between the main characters. I get really frustrated with this sometimes. The second thing that bothered me was the weird first person narrative from the villain. You the reader/listener are plucking along listening to a third person narrative but then bam a first person narrative pops up. It makes the story slightly weird. Lastly, Christian faith is mentioned, but it is not a major part of the story. Opportunities were there that would been perfect for a faith message.

I would recommend this book to those readers who enjoy suspenseful/legalish books that are slightly gothic, but clean. If southern gothic isn’t your thing or you like strong Christian faith then this book may not be the one for you.

I found this a bit small moving but still a decent romantic suspense read. This is a good second chance domestic thriller ish story with lots of twists and turns.

This book was wonderfully cowritten! The elements of suspense throughout, combined with family drama, opens this series in such a manner that it’s sure to be a success for years to come. Loved the characters, their dynamics, and cannot wait for the next book in this series to come out. It ended on quite a cliffhanger, and I’m very impatient to see how this all plays out.

Many thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins Christian Publishing for the free audiobook in exchange for my honest review. Karen Peakes narrates this book and makes it a very enjoyable experience!

I think the blurb does a great job setting up the story so I won't repeat that here. The characters are well developed and the story was engaging with twists and layers of complexity. Despite figuring out who committed the murder, I did anticipate some twists and really enjoyed the characters as Hez defended Savannah in the trial. This is a great Christian legal thriller that ends on a cliffhanger! Glad to see that this series will have a few more books in it.

Highly recommend!

I am so thankful to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio, and authors Colleen Coble and Rick Acker for this ARC audiobook and the chance to give my own honest opinion.
The narrator was great! 4.5 stars on narration. Loved her character voices. The "unknown" voice was a little hard to distinguish but other than that really great narration!
Savannah Webster and husband Hezekiah "Hez" Webster have been estranged for over 2 years after tragedy and grief tore their lives into two different directions. After initially denying Hez's request for another chance, Savannah finds herself running to him for help. A body is found at Tupelo Grove University, the college where Savannah teaches and is up for tenure. Hez is the best defense attorney out there and Savannah desperately needs him to represent her. Their investigation takes turns they could never have seen coming. This case runs far deeper than one murder. Can they solve it before Savannah ends up in jail - or dead?
Colleen Coble is exactly the author I have been searching for! Clean content, Christian values, and an amazing plot with twists that had me gasping! I love thrillers and I love investigative murder books and I found this was absolutely the best of both of those worlds! Amazing murder investigating content but also many scenes where I was gritting my teeth and holding my breath. Not to mention an epilogue that has me BEGGING for the next Tupelo Grove novel!

I DNF this book on audio. I have never listened to a book before and wanted to try it. It’s just not for me. I did read the kindle version and loved it! It was mysterious and there was a crazy twist at the end! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!

Another suspenseful adventure by Colleen Coble, this time with legal writer Rick Acker. There were plenty of twists and turns, and I didn't guess whodunnit. It's the first in a series, and I can't wait to learn about the big hint from the end of the book! I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator did an amazing job!

Trigger warning: death of a child in the past.
I received this audiobook from NetGalley. Opinions are my own.

Three stars

Dnf at 35%. My bad as I didn’t realize it was a Christian publishing imprint when I requested the ARC.

Karen Peakes did an excellent job narrating.

Cliff Hanger ahead! A book that started out seemingly as a simple romance story took me through so many emotions. There were plot twists that for sure did not expect!

First, Karen Peakes did a phenomenal job with the narration. Her vast array of voices was so enjoyable. I will definitely be on the lookout for more of her work!! As for the story, I was drawn in from the beginning. Full of mystery and suspense that kept me guessing who the culprit was. The cliffhanger caught me by suprise as I did not see that coming. I am looking forward to following this series and seeing what's coming next!
Thank you, NetGalley, Harper Collins, and Thomas Nelson, for the opportunity to listen and review this advanced copy.

When this audiobook first started, I realized maybe this wasn’t my normal read/listen so I was not expecting to enjoy it!

I was NOT expecting that ending, that’s for sure. I thought I had it figured out, and the jury is still out on the “friend in the police force”, but I was not expecting the reveal in the epilogue. It was well executed!

I love this narrator! I love listening to audiobooks read by her. She is easy to understand, goes at a great pace, and has a lot of range.

Definitely recommend this book/audiobook.

Really tried to get into this book. I've read other Colleen Coble series and was instantly hooked. For some reason, I just could follow and get into this book. I kept restarting hoping to make sense of what was happening.
