*Squid Choice* Okay, Squid LOVED this one. He was very engaged, followed the story, and thought Mothman was really cute. You know it's a good book when it makes the 3 year old happy squee.
Personally, I also loved this one. It was adorable and the illustrations were beautifully done.

About the book:
It’s Halloween, the biggest day of the year on Mothman’s farm. Schoolchildren from nearby Point Pleasant are scheduled to arrive all day long to pick their own pumpkins...until it begins to rain.
By the time the skies clear, not only have the kids’ field trips been cancelled, but it’s too late to even go trick-or-treating. The day is officially declared the Worstest Halloween Ever (in the Entire Universe).®Mothman, however, has a plan to make things right. With help from his fellow cryptids, he’ll give the kids a holiday they’ll never forget.

Overall Thoughts:
{{Disclaimer: I write my review as I read}}
I was drawn to this book despite it being a children's but because I love Mothman so much. I've actually went to Point Pleasant Mothman Festival four times so how could I pass up this book?
I had a lot of fun reading this book. The images in it are absolutely fun and adorable. I loved Mothman. I really enjoyed how he thought he had ruined the day with the pumpkins but the kids ended up having a fun time despite it. I think that's such a good lesson to Mothman and to the kids, to make the most out of a day even if it's not what you planned.
I don't know how many books I've read where I've ever seen someone Build a Snowman out of pumpkin so that was fun. I love winter and pumpkins so adding those two together was great.
I will be checking out the Christmas book and then when the Valentine's Day one comes out also be reading that one.

This book was so incredibly cute! My 2 year old nephew is obsessed with Halloween and he would absolutely love this book. As an adult, I thought it was creative. As a fan of cryptids, I love the stories with mothman and involving the other cryptid friends so special!
Thank you to 8th Circle and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Mothman's Happy Cryptid Halloween by Andrew Shaffer is a lovely picture book that would be the perfect gift for the child in your life. Although I'm not a cryptid expert and had never red stories about the Mothman before, I was perfectly entertained. I did not feel like I was missing any information. The story revolves around a Halloween celebration that is almost cancelled because of the weather. Mothman decides to take matters into his own hands and give the children a wonderful holiday that will never forget.
Overall, Mothman's Happy Cryptid Halloween is an adorable picture book that will bring entertainment to children of all ages. One highlight of this book are the fantastic and cute character designs. I loved seeing how the artist depicts the Mothman in particular. Another highlight of this book is how delightful the plotline is. I loved watching at the Mothman tries to fix Halloween before it's too late. If you're intrigued by the synopsis, or if you're a fan of children's picture books in general, I highly recommend that you check out this book when it comes out in August!
The best kind of kids book there is - great art with bright colors, original concept, cute story…and so much more fun than the usual. These are the kinds of books I love to get my friends’ kids and trust they know who it came from.
*Honest review in exchange for ARC copy from NetGalley.
This is a short book about Mothman and the “Official Worsest Halloween Ever!”.
It was my first Mothman book, which I read with my 4 and 6 year old children. They love Halloween so liked the pictures but found the story a little short for them, so it didn’t quite keep their attention. Perhaps it would be suited to a younger audience.
I found the facts on the different cryptids at the back interesting but I would have liked to see those facts woven in as we meet each character, as I think that would have enhanced the story.
Thank you NetGalley and 8th Circle Press for the free eARC in return for my honest review.
This was such a cute story! I loved the slight Christmas element to it.
Mothman is honestly such a great main character with a big heart who just wanted to see everyone happy.
I really enjoyed this, the art was great and it was a funny and fast paced story that’s great for kids!
This is a super fun way to talk about pros and cons with children while incorporating our favorite cryptid friends!
As someone who loves the strange and unexplained, I'm a sucker for cryptids- and this book is such a fun book for young kids! It's perfect to start off spooky season, a story about a Halloween (almost!) disaster. It is very short and I would recommend for ages 5-6 as I'm not sure older children will be into this as much considering the length and the primary aspect being colorful pictures, little words. That being said, the various cryptid characters are adorable, and the story itself is creative. The cryptid guide at the end is such a cute addition as well! I'm excited to read the cryptid books for the other holidays!
With just high ratings I wanted to try this and see if it would be a good fit for my 8 yo daughter who loves Halloween. While it’s cute I think it’s for much younger kids, the story is very short. It was fine but not something I’ll be getting her at this stage in life.
I read Mothman’s Merry Cryptid Christmas last year and didn’t expect this to become a series. I am loving these, and there’s going to be a Valentine’s Day one next!!! I will read them all.
It’s Halloween in Point Pleasant and Mothman needs to save the day. The image of Mothman in dungarees is impeccable. A cute children’s book to help get you into the spooky season. May pumpkins rain on every town in order to have the best Halloween Ever.
My family are big fans of cryptids, and mothman specifically. This book was adorable, and we loved the cryptid guide at the end. Such a fun book for kids and entertaining at any time of year!
Being a West Virginian, I love when Mothman gets to take center stage, and a new generation can learn to love my favorite little cryptid. This was a cute little story about organic farmer Mothman. It was everything I love in a picture book -- precious, easy to read, and fun
Super cute little tale in the vein of The NIghtmare Before Christmas (only for real little ones) where Mothman tries to salvage a soggy Halloween but ends up making things much worse, or did he?
I would like to thank Netgalley for sending me a copy of Mothman's Happy Cryptid Halloween in exchange for my honest review.
I thought this book was easy to read and perfect for children just starting to learn how to read. I think this would be perfect for kids interested in learning more about crypids. I used to be so scared of the mothman as a child, I think a book like this would've helped overcome my fear. I thought the illustrations were bright and eye catching.
This was an okay story about Mothman. As a WV native, I found this to be a bit basic, but it had a cute premise. Northman creates a very unique Halloween along with a few other cryptids. There’s not a lot of detail but the story is short and sweet, could be good for very young and early readers. I liked the information on each cryptid at the end, though it might’ve been fun to find a way to build that into the story.
Absolutely adorable! The artwork is super cute and the story is funny. I loved everything about this book.
Thank you for the EARC. These cryptid books for kids are so cute! I loved the story and illustrations and your kids will love it as a Halloween time story. It’s not scary at all considering the characters in it which I loved. Great little kids book.
Thank you to Netgalley and 8th Circle for the Free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
My Rating:
4. 25 stars (Rounded down)
My Opinion:
The illustrations are very simple and full of color. The writing was very simple too, depends on your Childs reading level. I enjoyed that "adult" mythical creatures were added and created to be friendly, for example Big Foot and Mothman himself.
Mothman's Happy Cryptid Halloween is a funny story about how Mothman tries to save Halloween when it is too rainy for kids to enjoy. The art style was unique and colorful.
