After last years absolutely delightful Mothman's Merry Cryptid Christmas when I saw this one on NetGalley I just had to pick it up. And it was almost as charming as the last. I have to say there was something especially charming about seeing cryptids in a very distinctly not typical for them holiday that this book doesn't quite manage but I think the first one did. It's like yeah Halloween is the expected cryptid holiday but I liked the unexpected a bit more. I will say that despite this it was still a great quick read and I have a feeling this series is going to develop into a great set of holiday books.
So playful and adorable! It doesn’t even matter that this is created for kids, the creative and comedic storyline paired with endearing illustrations made this such a fun read. Definitely enjoyable for all ages!
This Mothman series is quickly becoming a favorite. Our friendly Mothman is back, this time to save Halloween. Of course, community is everything, so Mothman calls on his trusted cryptid friends to help deliver Halloween to the locals. Can't wait for the Valentine's book!
This was cute. What better way to spend Halloween than with cryptids. I like that it shows kids that you don’t need to be scared of the unknown.
Mothman’s Happy Cryptid Halloween is a short, creepy read about Mothman trying to salvage a ruined field trip to the pumpkin patch. Spooky illustration, featuring his other cryptid friends this is a solid Halloween book for kids.
Who knew Mothman had such a big heart? Saving Halloween isn’t easy but with a few Cryptid friends anything is possible. A delightful read, I only with it had been a little bit more of it. I can never get enough Mothman. Great for Cryptid loving kids and adults alike.
This was a super cute and funny little book that is sure to become a favorite in my family. Loved the illustrations!
A super cute children's picture book that is for both adults and children.
The illustrations are very cute, with the el chupacabra being my favourite one
A perfect gift for halloween
Thank you Netgalley and 8th Circle Press for this ARC of Mothman's Happy Cryptid Halloween by Andrew Shaffer! I love a good children's Halloween book! Especially because it is my favorite holiday and I love reading and displaying Halloween books in my library during the October month. This book is not only adorable but it has great humor and amazing illustrations! I think this is a fun introduction to what a cryptid is and explaining it to my students in a fun and lighthearted way. I especially love the guide in the back, so funny and engaging! I would love to know what cryptids my students believe and why!
First, I love that it is raining in this story right off the bat and it says, "The official worstest Halloween ever ( in the whole entire universe)". As a kid when it would rain on my favorite holiday I would think the same thing. I remember one year the rain was so bad but I was determined to wear my costume and get my candy. So I brought my bag and a big umbrella and I ran from house to house with my younger brother getting as much candy as we could. I wasn't about to let some rain stop me! My mom wasn't even bothered by this knowing how much I loved this day and that I was devoted to going trick or treating especially with my little brother. This book gave me those fond memories and I love that I can share this with you all!
Seriously though I loved this story and couldn't stop giggling at the line "because that's what happens when you drop hundreds of pumpkins from the sky." My students would find this hilarious! I can think of so many fun discussions from this book that you can have with children and I am looking forward to sharing this with them in the fall! Thank you again for this ARC! #MothmansHappyCryptidHalloween #NetGalley
Mothman is back, but instead of him simply aiding Santa to help save Christmas, it is him and his cryptid friends saving the Halloween holiday. There are a few struggles they must overcome alone the way. The author gives a brief description of cryptids featured, such as the Jersey Devil, and Bigfoot to name a few, as well as other books to read if you enjoyed the cryptids within. I will continue to read these when they come out as they are such a joy.
The perfect Halloween book!
Cryptids are fun in this tale of Halloween woe. Mothman is hosting Halloween at the farm but it rains, and rains, and rains. It's sad and officially the worst, but Mothman has an idea. He gathers all of his cryptid friends to save the day!
It doesn't go as planned and they make a huge mess of the town, but school ends up being cancelled and the kids go trick or treating anyway. It ends up being the best Halloween ever!
A great lemonade from lemons type of story.
If you like cryptids and children's books, pick this one up. I love the illustrations and the humor. Mothman saves Halloween with the help of his cryptid friends. There's also a few other books by the same author that now I'll have to check out. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
Mothman, the creepy-cute cryptid is back again in an endearing children's book about Halloween, perspective and overcoming adversity.
While Mothman is all prepared for Halloween, the rain keeps the trick-or-treaters away. So he and his fellow cryptids come up with an ingenious solution to bring Halloween to the children. What follows is an enjoyable romp through the holiday as the townsfolk learn to reframe their views and make the best of a sticky situation.
A delightful book for young readers who are into creepy-cute cryptids.
~ Many thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review~
This was such a fun book to read! I loved the illustrations and colors used! The story is cute. My son and I both love books with cryptids. I love the inclusion of the cryptid guide in the back of the book! This is definitely a fun and unique book that I think kids and adults will both really enjoy!
Very cute and clever short children's book. I like the illustrations and the unique characters and humor in this book.
ARC Review! Thanks to NetGalley and 8th Circle!!
Mothman's favorite day of every year is Halloween. This Halloween, though, it rained. But he didn't let it ruin Halloween and instead got together with his cryptid buddies and dropped pumpkins from the sky. What they didn't for see is the town being so covered in pumpkin guts that it shut down the town the next day. How did the town react?
I love this book and so did my kids. One of them even rated it at 6 out of 5 stars! The art style is beautiful. We will be adding this to our collection and you should, too!
As someone who loves Mothman and cryptids, this ebook made my heart happy!
Brightly illustrated and heartwarming, Mothman's Happy Cryptid Halloween is an adorably festive book about good intentions, asking for help, and celebrating success. Mothman runs an organic produce farm in Point Pleasant, and can't wait to have children visiting on Halloween. But a rainstorm ruins all plans of trick or treating, so Mothman organizes a group of his cryptid friends to help save Halloween! Can they do it? Read this eBook to find out!
Mothman is back & this time he wants to make the best Halloween for the neighbourhood kids.
I loved Mothan's Merry Cryptid Christmas & so happy to see him at Halloween. It's raining in Point Pleasant, but Mothman is determined to make it the best halloween. So with the help of his cryptid friends he does not disappoint. It may not be your typical halloween, but it was fun all round.
Andrew Shaffer has delivered again with another fun, gorgeous adventure of Mothman & his friends that can be enjoyed by all age groups. Look forward to the next adventure.
** “The official worstest Halloween ever (in the whole entire universe).” **
Andrew Shaffer offers a delightful children’s story that is sure to become a family favorite with “Mothman’s Happy Cryptid Halloween."
Mothman is preparing for the area children to pick pumpkins at his farm for Halloween. He is so excited, and is even planning on dressing up in a costume. But when rain cancels the children’s visit, he becomes very sad, believing Halloween is ruined.
But when he seeks help from his friends — Bigfoot, Nessie, the Jersey Devil and Chupacabra — they come up with a plan. Will it be enough to save Halloween?
Shaffer’s sweet story, filled with fun and colorful illustrations, reminds us to find the silver lining in bad situations, to always seek an answer, and to rely on our friends for help.
The end of the book, which is due out Aug. 6, features a cryptid guide, revealing fun and silly facts like Mothman’s “interests include bright lights, holidays, and organic farming” and the Jersey Devil is “a thing with kangaroo arms, bat wings, and horse legs."
Five stars out of five.
8th Circle Press provided this complimentary copy through NetGalley for my honest, unbiased review.
It’s Halloween in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, (the ONLY home of Mothman, by God!) and here, sweet Mothman owns an organic produce farm, because, of course he does! But, oh no! It’s RAINING on Halloween! Can Mothman and his friends save the holiday?
Cute as can be, of course! Highly recommended.
