Your typical angsty New Adult novel with a twist. That's how I would describe this story. Lucas and Katie were both struggling with events in their past and their story was interesting to learn. I wouldn't say that I connected to either character, but I could understand why they would connect on some level. I did enjoy their romance and that it was paired with some suspenseful elements that added a different angle to the story. I do think that the writing was good, but there were some moments when I would have preferred the author would have pulled back a little bit. I say this because once I knew those details, I detached myself from the story because my opinion of Katie completely changed. IDK, it just happened. As a result of this, my enjoyment of the story decreased and I was no longer invested in it.
