This is the first book I ever read on this topic and I am only sorry this wasn't written when I most needed it.
I feel this book is invaluable. To find this level of understanding and representation to a situation that feels so heavy and so troublesome is truly remarkable. All throughout this book you can see the author has a big experience at handling this kinds of situations and the examples given are so helpful in covering a big variety of situations.
I loved everything about this book, the richness of details and situations, the understanding, the empathetic tone and the respect for the huge palette of situations that can surface, as each case can seem unique.
In a world where there are so many people thinking about severing contact with one or more family members, and in this world that is always ready to judge, this book is an ally for anyone looking to make the best choice for themselves.
I cannot recommend this book enough and I am so very grateful to have received this in order to share my view on it, especially as it comes as a holistic approach, offering a great deal of value for anyone affected by this topic, being in their beginning of this process or just trying to live their best life after it.
This was a helpful guide that allows people to learn to set boundaries and maintain compassion for themselves and others. I could see myself using this with clients in therapy!
This book is an invaluable resource for anyone going through the difficult process of cutting ties with a family member, especially for someone like me who has recently made the decision to cut ties with my mother. It provided much-needed validation that I made the right choice. The book is filled with useful tools, exercises, and insights that guide readers through the emotional complexities of this experience. I found many of the strategies helpful and will continue to use them to maintain my peace and mental stability. Highly recommended for those in similar situations.
Cutting Ties with Your Parents is a really helpful book for people who have cut off ties with their parents, are thinking about it or even for those to help understand loved ones who have made this decision. Martin does a great job of going over every possible option thoroughly and providing advice and tips on how to handle each. I recently cut off a relationship with my parents and found many tools that I will use often to keep myself sane!

Oh man. Being married for eight years and having so many problems with in-laws that have divided our marriage, and I just felt helpless. I wish I had this book years ago. I think it is so beautifully done. I got so many great things from it and just really enjoyed the way it was laid out. Well done!
