"Every Breath You Take" by Miranda Rijks is a gripping psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The story follows the character of Dr. Samantha Willerby, a psychologist who is pulled into a twisted and dangerous game of cat and mouse with a mysterious stalker who seems to know everything about her.
Rijks does an excellent job of building tension and suspense throughout the novel, keeping the reader guessing as to the stalker's identity and motives. The plot is full of unexpected twists and turns, and the pacing is fast-paced, making it difficult to put the book down.
The character development is also well done, with Dr. Willerby being a complex and flawed protagonist who is easy to root for. The supporting characters are also well-rounded and add depth to the story.
Overall, "Every Breath You Take" is a thrilling and engaging read that will appeal to fans of the psychological thriller genre. Rijks' writing is sharp and compelling, and the plot is both original and captivating. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a gripping and suspenseful read.

I'd love to say that I was initially drawn to this book by the brilliantly striking front cover - I can totally tell that I'm going to love this book just from that!
However, apart from the cover, I think that Miranda is just an auto-buy/read for me now, having read a fair few of their books already and loved them all!
This book really draws us straight in as Samuel fails to come home after a boys night out - after waiting for him to return, Eva gets a message to say he's met someone else.
As she's trying to come to terms with this shock, Eva is sent another message stating that Samuel will die - unless she can complete a list of totally bizarre tasks.
Once again, this was a super fast-paced read and I raced from start to finish.
The writing style builds up the tension and as crazy as this situation seems, we're really drawn into it and I really felt for Eva, who was trying to cope with it all alone.
Although I felt bad for Eva, she did come across as quite unlikable at times, but I think that this is intended to emphasise the intense pressure that she was under - I know I'd be going crazy if it had been me!?
The storyline was packed with twists and turns and it was great to follow this through the different pov's - Eva's and the kidnapper's - which created a great sinister atmosphere.
Another brilliant read and as always, I'm eagerly awaiting what's coming next.....
Twisty, fast-paced thriller with an original plot. I'm not a huge fan of stories about gaslighting b because they make me anxious, but this author creates plots where you have to find out what is going on! Eva has a happy life with her husband Samuel and her two children Riley and Alfie. She also has a great circle of friends and a job running a family charity. One night her husband goes out for a drink with a friend and never comes home. The action is off and running pretty quickly in this book as Eva receives strange texts followed by a picture of her husband with blood on his face. She is informed her husband has been kidnapped and she will need to complete a ''bucket list' of items in order to get him back.
Eva's friends, older brother and mother think she is having a nervous breakdown as she does odd things like cut off all her hair and go on a dating app. I felt a lot of frustration that Eva didn't confide in her friends, hire a private detective or find ways to document what was happening to her. Part of the novel ties in to an old fear of Eva's from when she was a child, but it wasn't tied in enough to make a difference in the story. I didn't guess the main twist and it didn't make sense to me based on what we knew about Eva's life before the kidnapping. I think this one was a fast read with some exciting parts but the plot didn't always make sense. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this ARC for review.
Rijks one of my favorite writers. Well I didn't enjoy the writing and the characters I found it was an easy predictable story. I definitely would recommend it to other people but unfortunately it's my least favorite of hers. I would give it 3.5 out if 5
Buckle up for this thrilling ride! When Eva’s husband does not come home she fears the worst.
The story is told in dual POV from The Wife and The Lover but we don’t know who The Lover is. This is a quick read full of twists and I can’t really say more without spoilers. You need to read this book if you love psychological thrillers!
Wow, this was the first book I've read by Miranda Rijks but it definitely won't be my last! I loved everything about it! The twists were amazing and I was glued to the pages to the end.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an early copy of this thrilling read
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I say it with every book of Miranda’s but this is probably my favourite. This book had so many twists it was brilliant.
As with all of Miranda’s books I'm hooked from page 1, they pull you in and do not let you go until the very end.
I had no idea which way the book was going and nor did I see the ending happen. Another amazing 5⭐️ read.
I had a love-hate relationship with this book, and I think that is intended by the author as the main character is both likeable and annoying!
After her husband fails to come home after drinks with a friend, he sends his wife a text to say he has met someone else. But then Eva gets another message with a picture of a knife to her husbands throat... she has to do whatever the kidnapper asks or her husband will die. Soon, everyone thinks Eva is having a breakdown as her actions become increasingly erratic.
We find out who is behind the plot midway through the book. I think I would have preferred that this was dragged out a little further as there are some good suspects lined up. However, I enjoyed the twists and turns. I liked the dual points of view of Eva and the kidnapper as it gave a sinister feel, and we got to see what the deeper motivation was.
I enjoyed the writing and pacing of the book. It is a quick read that had me turning the pages. My only gripe is how the main character handled the situation, but as I said at the start, I feel this was done intentionally by the author to create tension and frustration!
With thanks to the author and Netgalley for providing a copy of this book. This is my honest opinion, which I'm leaving voluntarily.
Every Breath You Take by Miranda Rijks does it again writing another exciting page turner that I couldn’t put down.
The characters are richly developed, and the tension is palpable throughout.
The plot is full of twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end. Just when I thought I had figured it out, the story took another unexpected direction.
Thank You NetGalley and Inkubator Books for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
WHOA!!! This book was so suspenseful! I stayed up late reading this until I fell asleep with my kindle in my hand. The next morning, I woke up early to finish it. Talk about INTENSE! There were so many twists that I didn’t see coming. I loved everything about this book. This one of my fave books so far this year.
The suspense building in this novel is *chef’s kiss*! I was on pin and needles waiting to see what would happen. The buildup had me so anxious. The author did a great job building up to the extremely shocking end of this story. This book is told from dual POVs - the wife and the lover. The plot was well developed and I really enjoyed the pacing of this book. I felt that the characters were fleshed out well, as I truly felt that the paranoia Eva felt was palpable. I was really rooting for Eva. I was so curious to know who the lover was and when I found out, my jaw dropped and I just sat there for a minute. Even towards the ending when I thought I knew how the last few chapters of the book would play out, there were more twists and turns that caught me off guard.
For my domestic thriller lovers, read this book!

This is a fast paced psychological thriller, a gripping read, lots of twist and unexpected turns throughout.
Eva’s husband Samuel has been out for the night, Eva has an early night, she finds it unusual, very strange and concerning that he has not returned by the morning, Eva feels they have a good marriage and Samuel a committed father to their 2 children.
As the morning goes on and she has not been able to reach him she starts to panic, his phone is switched off, he hasn’t gone into work, she has checked with the guys he was having a few beers with last night but no one can offer an explanation. She decides to ring the police and report him missing.
Then she receives a mysterious text from him which rocks her world, the text says he has met someone else and is leaving her- Eva is shocked, devastated, is this real? how could her Samuel do this to her and the children? The next message is a photo of Samuel with a knife to his neck, Eva is terrified, has Samuel been kidnapped, the messages then come with a series of bizarre instructions, threats, if she doesn’t carry out the bucket list Samuel will die! She is instructed not to involve the police.
Who has kidnapped Samuel and why?
Each day for Eva becomes more stressful, as she tries to meet the demands being made, she is not sleeping, exhausted, lying to her children, she is a nervous wreck.
The story unfolds rapidly and is cleverly told by Eva the wife and Samuel’s lover. It’s a clever, twisty, mind blowing but fun read,
I highly recommend this book, you will definitely not be able to predict the ending, there is a totally unexpected twist!
Many thanks to Net Galley and Inkubator Books for an ARC of this fabulous book in exchange for a review.
A short fiction book that I read in two sittings. In the plus I loved the way this author describes the environment. Putting you right in the centre with the ability to visualise exactly how the world is deemed. The characters had great context but not in a man-splainly way. The plot is certainly different and I enjoyed the storytelling.
On the negative, there were a few red herrings thrown in, but you found out who the lover was too soon. From there it went a bit downhill for me. Very linear and sometimes not at all plausible how I would see a real life version of this playing out.
All in all, I did really enjoy this authors writing style and would certainly read another of her books.
This is another well written, terrific book by Miranda Rijks. I enjoyed every minute of it, and never saw the ending twists coming!
The story centers around Eva, a wife and mother of two pre teen kids. When her husband doesn’t come home, but sends a text saying he doesn’t love her anymore, Eva goes into a tailspin. How can this be true? She leans heavily on her brother and friends for support.
Her worst fears are confirmed that her husband has been kidnapped when weird demands are texted to her, in order to save her husband’s life. The texts disappear, and she has no proof for the police to see.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat. The twists kept on coming right up to the end!
Thanks to Booksprouts and Inkubator books for the opportunity to read and review this book.
My opinions are unbiased.
5 stars!
Well done! My jaw literally dropped. And the way the twist was presented..(chef's kiss).
The only reason that this is not a 5 star is I feel that this could have been a little longer to really delve into how Samuel was found. It goes from her dialing the police to Samuel is in the hospital. Since there was a build up of her brother being a kidnapper or crazy stalker, I really think that was an important piece if the author was ending it with Samuel and Stephen being in love. The whole time it was seemed that Stephen, with cooking the food, Samuel not seeming that interested in him, and the constant sleeping, that there would have been more of an explanation there. I also would have liked to see that it was an affair that got out of hand and Stephen really was crazy. Stephen did not seem to love his niece and nephew, but wanted to be their "mother". Samuel had bought the anniversary gift.
Overall, this was well done.
Thank you NetGalley, Miranda Rijks, and Inkubator Books for allowing me to review.

This book was absolutely fantastic! Right when your just picking your jaw up off the floor thinking ...wait...what ...??? Another big twist comes definitely not a predictable book because you won't ever see these twists coming!!!! Definitely a page turner and kept me at the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next! You thriller lovers won't want to miss this one!
Wow, I wasn’t sure what to think of the book at first, but it got good!!! Essentially it’s about Eva & Samuels marriage. One evening, Samuel leaves for a guys night out, but doesn’t come home. Thinking that he’s sleeping it off somewhere, Eva goes about her day … but then, she starts to worry. She calls with no answer, texts with no “read” notification, where is Samuel? The threatening texts start to arrive & that’s where the story really begins. I liked that the chapters are written from 2 POV, that of the wife (Eva) and the other of the lover … gives you a little insight as to the mental state and thinking of each person. Eva is asked to do some odd things, a “bucket list” as it’s said, in order to keep the kidnapper from hurting her husband. Our 1st twist comes at HOLY CHAPTER 18 (do to skip ahead and spoil it) … then around the end again … whiplash! Another twist to send you reeling. What a good book!
The cons? Well our MC Eva just seems dumb, I’ve never been in this situation (thank goodness) but I think she does some pretty careless things that halt the progress of finding her husband. I also felt it shouldn’t have been called a “bucket list” as that made no sense with the things she was being asked to do.
I found this an easy to read, thriller/drama about a couple, who seem very happy and settled with their 2 kids. Then, the wife returns from a girls trip to find her husband missing and she starts to receive bizarre text messages.
It’s a unique storyline with a twist I didn’t expect and a perfect beach read. For me, a solid, Good read.

What a fantastic book this is. I read it in two days and found it hard to put down. It's a story of the worst betrayal that can happen. A husband disappears with no warning and all their friends try to help Eva figure out where he could be. Then Eva gets a text that says he's leaving her and not coming back. Then another text pings and it mentions a bucket list of things she must do, and each one is worse than the last. The disembodied voice is on snapchat and is disguised, and it warns Eva not to go to the police or her husband will die. Then her children are threatened but Eva does as she's told. The story is intense and full of twists. I thought it was brilliant. Thanks, Miranda, you never disappoint.
