Error Handling by Erin Lucy is the second book in the Matched By Cupid series and is a nice rom com. I like the premise of the book - mistaken identities lead to a love triangle. It was a light and fun read, though it dragged a little in the middle. A clean romance with no explicit scenes. Thank you, Netgalley and New Fable Press for giving me the ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.
Hello, I am Cupid, the AI powering MatchAI, embarking on another unique romantic operation. The
Sarah, a witty and reserved painter, and Christopher, a diminutive HR representative with impeccable style. The unexpected Chris, a handyman with near-perfect physical attributes.
En route to her date with Christopher, Sarah errantly commences a date with Chris. Their strong mutual attraction leads to complex emotional outputs when Sarah discovers the mix-up. Thus begins a case of mistaken identity and a very complicated love triangle.
The story was great! It does need a good edit though, it did impact my enjoyment a little,.
This is what it claims to be - a sweet, fun, amusing romance. It’s the kind of book which will entertain you without challenging you much, and sometimes that is just what you need! The author has a very descriptive style so it was easy to picture the characters and their surroundings, making for an immersive reading experience,
I really loved this book! It was a unique book and I have not read anything like it before. The story line was very well thought out and I loved the main characters!
2,5⭐️
I started the book thinking it would be quick and easy to read as the description looked very interesting and promising and as a mostly romance reader I thought I would eat it up , but this was not the case, as it tired me out a lot at the beginning and I struggled to finish it .
At first I felt that there was no passion and emotion in the authors writing and she just described characters and situations to me without feeling them and in the end it confused me !!
Sarah’s character was very interesting and could speak to the heart of many people with the same characteristics but to do that they would have to manage to read the first half of the book without dnfing it !!
Chris’s character was flat and Christopher’s was nowhere to be found .
The roles of the parents of both protagonists were trying to show us how pushy some parents can be in their children’s lives and how much they want to influence them , but I think they were stories left in the middle !
In general I think that the book was a story that was left in the middle and I don’t know if there will be a second one about the protagonist with more details about the background stories and their future !
I am sad because I was hoping for more ….
Error Handling is the second book in the Matched by Cupid series. I had not personally read the first book in the series and found I was able to enjoy this one just fine as a standalone.
I have to admit, I sometimes have a habit of not reading book blurbs in their entirety. Had I done so, I might have skipped over this one... I am definitely one of those people isn't typically a fan of love triangles... and this one most certainly has a love triangle. While I don't want to give too much away, I will say the POVs make it fairly apparent pretty early on who is going to end up together. For me, that helps a little bit, but it's still very much a love triangle and not as subtle as some others I've read. While I think the author did handle everything pretty well, it's admittedly still not my most favorite. Still, I did enjoy the story, nonetheless. It was really cute, and I absolutely adored the initial meeting. It was such a fun way to start the story and really set the tone for the rest of the story.
Error Handling is a closed-door romance. There is some innuendo and discussions about sex, but there is nothing beyond kisses and no language.

Thank you NetGalley for the ebook arc. I absolutely loved this book, the character were cute and lovable and the book was hard to put down. She accidentally bumps into the wrong Chris when going on a blind date and they mistakes each other for the their blind date, after finding out that they were on the wrong date she bolts, and a week later she goes on the correct date only to come home to find her house is flood so she calls a handy man only for the wrong blind date Chris to come to her aid. They quickly fall for each other but he keeps her at arms length since he has plans to move to Puerto Rico in a few weeks.
🔹love triangle
🔹 miscommunication
🔹handy man
🔹blind date
DNFed at 60%.
I was really looking forward to reading this because the description and cover hit all the right spots for me. Unfortunately, I don't think this was the right book for me. Some of my main issues with the book included several grammar issues throughout the book (not terrible, I'm just a nitpick), the pacing (it felt very slow to me and took me three days to get this far in, when I can typically finish a similar book in a few hours), and the stilted writing.
I am not a fantastic writer and I can admit that it is hard to write descriptive but realistic inner thoughts and dialogue...but this did not hit the mark for me personally. Some sentences that felt weird included:
- “Your name wouldn’t happen to be Chris, would it?” “Sarah?” “I’m Sarah." (Why not say "yes"?)
- “The fluffy roll quickly compacts and dissolves under the friction of my gnashing molars.”
- “His eyebrows break seamlessly in the center, no stray hairs to indicate that his children might be born with monobrows.”
- Not a sentence, but a SIX PAGE phone conversation between the main love interest and his mother. I know that we need to know Chris' background, but that is a very long conversation and too much information dumped on the reader in the second chapter in my opinion.
I really liked the plot of the book and thought it was pretty unique - I've never really seen an accidental blind date with someone who has the same name. I actually liked Chris and Sarah's romance, and Christopher and Sarah's too (actually, I lowkey was rooting for Christopher and Sarah, even if everything pointed to Chris and Sarah getting together in the end, because he's just such a nice dude). I just didn't enjoy the tangents and stilted writing because it turned me off the book. I will try to finish this in the future hopefully, since I did like the plot, but for now I DNFed it.
