This book was amazing. It was well written and flowed. I love how the characters all stayed true to themselves and the dynamic of her besties friends family. I like that the MMC was was logical in his knowledge of his family. I would absolutely read this again(or listen as I listened to the audio book). I didn’t realize it was the author reading it until the end and finding that out was perfect she did splendidly and really gave the book what it deserved.

4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 🎧

I received an ALC (Advanced Listener Copy) of this audiobook from NetGalley.

I wasn't sure if I would like that the author is also the narrator. It doesn't always work out well. But I will say Evie is a fantastic narrator I would completely listen to her again just because her accent was fun to listen to.

Rory is completely a grump, and I don't really blame him at all. He thought he was going to have the cottage all to himself. He didn't know that he was going to have to contend with Zoe. Was he a bit of a meanie yes, yes, he was.

Zoe though deserves a metal she didn't tuck tail and run, and I loved that. Even when she learns the truth, she fights even though her heart is breaking.

I loved the push and pull between these two and when they finally give in it's sparks and fire and I am here for it.

So fun , I loved Zoe and Rory , opposites definitely attract . Zoe is fun , witty and just herself which makes her so likable . I love the storyline of Zoe inheriting her new home in Scotland , the trials she had to face were hard for her but made the story plausible and so fun and intriguing with Rory!

Highland games.
Utterly, ridiculously fun!

This is my first book by Evie Alexander and it was quite the rage, really. This book was the perfect combination of sweet, salty and spice. Zoe as the protagonist was fun, had sass and loved hard. Her over-cautious and life-sized personality had my heart.

The plot was engaging and the plethora of side characters each seemed so unique, loveable and well written. I felt that one of the strongest points in the book was the whole found-family vibes of it. Also, honourable mention to Basil.

I love the writing style, the pacing and depth in the book. The audiobook was narrated by the author herself and it was an immersive experience. The tone, flow and modulation were all top notch.

Overall, a must read. Hold up while I run to go get the other books in the series!

I received an ALC of the Audiobook. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Thank you to Netgalley, the Author and the Publisher for providing an ALC of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

First of all, thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to get an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this audiobook for what it was, an amazingly cute little romance between two people.

I loved the interactions between the two MCs and there was a decent level of spice.

Looking forward to reading/listening to more books by Evie Alexander.

This was a fun romance. It was funny at parts and an enemies to lovers style story. The audiobook was read by the author, which was really fun because you could tell she was reading it just like she wrote it. I enjoyed the story, and the hijinks Rory does to try to discourage Zoe from staying in Scotland.

The premise of the story is that Zoe, a woman who needs adventure in her life, is given a cottage in Scotland by her dear uncle upon his passing. When Zoe gets there, the cottage is more of a shack in serious disrepair and Zoe is not the handy fixer-upper type. Rory had hoped to live in the cabin himself, hoping that it would return back to the estate the land hold was from, however was surprised to see Zoe moving in.

I enjoyed this book and am excited that it's listed as #1 in the Kinloch series. Looking forward to more books by this author!

Zoe arrives in the Scottish Highlands with high hopes after she inherits her uncle's cabin. She's in need of a change.

But the state of cabin -- well, even the roughest of women wouldn't live here. There's no bathroom, no kitchen.. But she's not about to prove Rory right, who happens to work on the property and believes she's in need of some Starbucks and fluffy beds.

Zoe will not back down from a challenge, and she ends up impressing Rory instead. He agrees to help her fix up the place, and they just can't get the other out of their minds.

I mean.. who doesn't love a Scottish hunk in a kilt? Have you ever seen Outlander?!

I'm so glad I found this audiobook on @netgalley and I am so impressed that the author @eviealexanderauthor narrated it! Her voice was PERFECTION.

Highland Games was a very enjoyable book!

We have a fmc who is just trying to find her happiness and a grumpy mmc who is trying to find his too. Too bad Zoe finding hers makes Rory feel like his is out of reach.

Zoe's great uncle has passed and left her his land agreement and old cabin so she decides it's time for a life change. She gives up her comfy apartment and moves to the cabin she hasn't seen in many years. Of course it's more rustic than she remembered but she's willing to give it her best shot!

Enter Rory who believed that he would be taking over the cabin since it's on his land. He never thought that someone would take over the temporary land deed. Of course he does his level best to make things uncomfortable for Zoe in hopes she'll pack up and leave.

These two made me laugh and angry and cry. It was a very enjoyable book and I'll be happy to continue the series!

Thank you to NetGalley, Evie Alexander and Emlin Press for the opportunity to listen to and review this audiobook. Evie Alexander did an AMAZING job at narrating her story.

This was a sweet, Scottish romance with a little bit of fixer-upper, mistaken identity, and grumpy/sunshine tropes. While set in the Highlands, the title is a play on the games perspective lovers play not the actual Highland Games. This was the perfect rom-com to read after my trip to Scotland! Too bad I didn’t find myself a grumpy man-bear with an interesting past while I was there…

Thank you Evie Alexander, Emlin Press, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this audiobook! The sound quality was great. The book was narrated by the author, which I always love because I feel like we get the story authentically as it was meant to be.

Super cute enemies to lovers set in Scotland!! I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. This is just what I needed, swoon-worthy MMC, a fun FMC, beautiful setting, and just an all around fun read.

I loved that the author narrated the audiobook. She did a fabulous job!

I received an arc from Netgalley and the publisher.

This book was utterly delightful. A small town, Scottish rom-com with loads of shenanigans and spice.

I loved this audiobook. When I saw that the author was the narrator I was skeptical buttttt lets just say she KILLED it. This is one of the best audiobooks i've listened to and I listen to one every single day. I can not wait for the rest of the books to come out in audio. I will be waiting for them to come out to finish the series.

Now onto the story. This was a super cute, steamy, and funny rom-com based in Scotland. I never knew I need this Scottish banter as much as I did. The characters were all amazing and not annoying one bit, which rarely happens.

I definitely recommend listening to this audiobook.

Thank you NetGalley and Evie Alexander (:

I love a good Scottish romance. Rory and Zoe were such a fun mashup of frustration and chemistry. Utterly blind to each others attraction with ensuing hilarity as they try to weave their way around each other. This story is lighthearted, bumble into love at its finest. The audio was quite enjoyable, creating new layers to fun with excitement well conveyed and emotion palpable.

When you see that the author narrates the audiobook, that could go one of two ways - amazing or ... not so amazing. This was AMAZING.

I have listened to many audiobooks (over 250 in the past two years). I listen to audiobooks anywhere from 1.5-2.5x speed. When you listen at higher speeds, you are more likely to catch odd accents or character voices. This audiobook is easily in the top 25% I've listened to. Accents were natural, and character voices and tones were excellent. It didn't feel like the narrator/author was stretching or forcing it at any point. I want to continue on with the series, but now that I have had such a wonderful experience with this audiobook, I think I will have to wait for the rest to be released in audio form!

Audio quality aside, this was an absolute delight of a book to listen to. I listened to the whole thing in a day while doing a deep clean on my home. It kept my spirits light and laughing, which can be difficult when you are on your hands and knees scrubbing the bathroom floor. The romance conflicts were natural and logical, the side characters were fantastic and didn't outshine the FMC and MMC, and the setting was immaculate. I cannot wait to continue with the series!

Thank you to NetGalley and Emlin Press for an advanced audiobook copy. All opinions are my own, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

3 1/2 stars. I listened to the audiobook of this book. It was so well done. The author narrated herself, and she did a fantastic job. This was a cute story. The premise was good, but sometimes it felt like it was trying too hard. The miscommunication between the two main characters was a little more than I prefer. It would be a good palate cleanser after an angsty or heavier read.

This grumpy meets sunshine Highland romance has all the best of elements, from returning to found family, carrying out a dying wish, girl being bad @$$ and taking care of herself/being resourceful, and grumpy dude falls hard first. There were a few elements that I wish were talked out more or came to more fruition in the forefront of the story, rather than in background of the story, But It was honestly laugh out loud and Hot flash level spice.

This was adorable. I loved the grumpy-sunshine, small town vibes and I absolutely loved Zoe’s unexpected toughness.

Gotta admit though, my favourite character was Basil.

I did miss the Scottish accents for the Scottish characters, but love the intonation Evie provides since she knows these characters inside out.

The opening line to chapter 1:
This was it. She was going to die. Die being mauled and eaten by a bear. Why had she left her job, her flat, her friends, her life for this wild fantasy only for her to die on the first night. And she wasn't even wearing her best underwear. - That thought is absolutely something I'd think about in a chaotic situation such as this. I came out of the gate laughing out loud.

I'm in a bit of a reading slump, being generally overwhelmed with all the things. This book was just what I needed. Vibes: sweet, funny, and charming. I absolutely love that the author narrates her own books. She's phenomenal. The way Evie Alexander writes is tailor made for audiobooks - and it makes writing quotes down while listening difficult because the sentences aren't created to be grammatically sane. I'm already listening to another of her books (that she also narrates) and feel confident her writing style is one I'm going to continue to enjoy. Please note: actual highland games are not present in this story - if that's important to you, now you know.

NetGalley, Evie Alexander, and Emlin Press: Thank you so much for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed it!

I was so super excited to get approved for this audiobook because it looked really cute! But honestly, I just found it a bit too cheesy. It’s definitely a me thing though! I’d still 100% recommend it to others!
