Rich American heiress in disguise meets secret English nobleman. They both proclaim they will never marry (to busy trying to be a woman in business in the late 1800s) or fall on love (a man damaged and closed off by his tragic past). Chaos and hijinks ensue and this ends in exactly the way the cover suggests it will, lol.
Overall, The Heiress Masquerade was an enjoyable quick read with quick-witted, stubborn characters who managed to charm each other (and the reader) and everyone gets their happily ever after.

Author Maddison Michaels in “The Heir Swap” introduced us to Evie, however we are now finding out about Aimee and what she has been up to in London. The “Heiress Masquerade” is the second standalone in the Dollar Princess Series and also an enjoyable read for me. I loved the banter, face-offs with one another and the tension that built up to their attraction between the hero and heroine. The story begins with an heiress who switches places with her cousin because she wants to follow her own dreams and aspirations. All to become a trainee in her father’s London company. What she did not count on was falling in love with her competition…someone her father trusts to run the company.
The pace was a bit slow, but the story was well-written leaving me wanting to find out the ending. Romance, intrigue, loyalty, and a host of other happenings make for this delightful read. I do love the fun-loving enemies to lovers trope with all its entertaining and witty moments.

The Heiress Masquerade story runs parallel timeline version to the first book The Heiress Swap. American Heiress Aimee Thornton-Jones trades places with her American / half English illegitimate cousin Evie Jenkins as Aimee is invited to stay at a Countess’s guest (as her mother wants her to marry a titled Lord) instead would rather learn her father's London business. There Aimee works under Harrison Stone as his secretary and as things are rocky off from their first introduction meeting. There’s mystery (aside from identities) but throughout Aimee’s father’s business that deals with ledgers and someone else wants to harm the business.
Sadly, I just didn’t like this story as much as the first one. I find Aimee’s character too disliking for me. I also didn’t see the connection between her and Harrison as I didn’t fall for their relationship. It moved too slow for me and then the ending after the start of the kidnapping became my favorite part.
I still plan on coming back for the next book in this series.

New York - 1890
Aimee Thornton-Jones is telling her mother that she refuses to be the next Dollar Princess. the woman is insisting that she travel to London to be introduced to English Society and hopefully marry a titled English gentleman. The Countess of Braxton will host her. Her traveling companion will be her cousin, Evie. In London, Evie will learn to be a secretary in Aimee’s father business. Aimee wants to remain in New York to finish attending Business College. Now, Aimee decides that in London, she and Evie will swap places.
Arriving in London, Aimee is dismayed when she learns that she will be staying with the head secretary of the business and the other secretaries. They share a room and the facilities are rather dire. For one who has been used to living a life of luxury, this is quite daunting for Aimee. But it’s when she meets Harrison and they immediately clash, that the sparks start to fly and the fun begins.
Humorous, amorous, with some cloak and dagger thrown in and you have a clever romance with a delightful ending. Enjoy!

This is a new to me author but I will definitely be looking for more of her works. I enjoyed the main characters and their fireworks. I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Really liked this book. Aimee and Harrison's story was thoroughly enjoyable. Aimee is the only daughter of a multi-millionaire and is sent to London for a season in the hope of meeting and marrying a titled Lord. Her cousin, Evie, travelling with her was going to work in Aimee's father's London office to train to be a secretary.
Unfortunately for Aimee, who has always been keen to learn the business and is a wiz with numbers, her fate is a terrible one! Aimee swops places with her cousin with neither Aimee's parents' nor Harrison Stone being the wiser.
The fun starts when Aimee (acting as Evie) finds discrepancies in the accounting books, and the hired German translator who fails to translate the full truth during the initial meeting between Harrison and the German team. Lucky for all, Aimee, whose grandmother was a German woman speaks fluent German and can catch the fraud and save the meeting / merger proceeding.
Evie in the meantime, although not much mentioned, has her own HEA!
Other exciting events, including Aimee’s kidnapping and the romance that inevitably develops between Harrison and Aimee keep you engaged in the story. I received an ARC from the publishers and NetGalley and submit my honest review voluntarily.

This book was so great. I really loved the banter between Harrison and Aimee. The author was captivating, I could not put the book down. The story follows a Heiress who switches places with her cousin to follow her dream in her father company. She however falls in love with her competition whom her father entrust the company to since she is a woman. The book has love, loyalty, grief, heartache, murder, kidnapping. It really is a roller coaster that everyone needs to be on. I recommend this book to anyone. It was well written and can’t wait to read more from this writer

If you read The Heir Swap, this book is about what Aimee is up to in London. I'd been waiting for this release and it was good.
I will say that the pacing felt slower than the first book, but I was itching to get to the reveal.
What I wasn't expecting was the villain in this book! I never saw it coming.
Heiress Aimee Thorton-Jones is bound for England along with her cousin. Her parents hope she'll meet an eligible titled lord and settle down, as her mother wishes. She wants to prove that she is just as valuable as a son and take over her father's company. And she intends to do that by swapping places with her cousin as a trainee in his London offices.
The London office is run by her father's protege Harrison Stone. Before officially meeting he and Aimee have a run-in on the street that leaves each irritated with the other. And that carries through to their everyday interactions with each other. He's torn between sending her home or thoroughly kissing her. His gut tells him she's hiding something.
And with the company under threat of sabotage, he plans on finding out who she really is.
Thanks so much to the author and Entangled for this ARC to review.

Book two of the cousin swap...
Aimee (the American heiress) took her cousin's place, working in her fathers' business. With Harrison, his protege as her boss. There's some sabotage going on as well as a lot of kissing or more. Harrison gets pushy and high handed, which is the wrong tactic with Aimee, who is very headstrong.
Recommend.

the Heiress Masquerade is the second book in the Dollar Princess series by Maddison Michaels and I have to admit I was waiting on this one as I wanted to get the other half of the story from Aimee's point of view. In book one, we followed Evie, her cousin when they changed places and now we get to see what happened to Aimee.
Aimee Thornton-Jones is an heiress and she knows her mother's plan is to ship her off to England to marry some titled lord but she has different plans. She is going to swap places with her cousin and become a trainee at her father's company to prove to him she's just a valuable as any son. The only problem is his protege - Harrison Stone. They don't exactly have the best first meeting.
Harrison Stone has plans and this determined young woman in his employ is not going to derail them. It doesn't matter that every time she's around him all he can think about is kissing her. When he finds out that instead of being the niece of his boss, he is actually his daughter, he is even more concerned about the feelings he has for her. When they can't fight their feelings anymore, they take the next step. Unfortunately for Harrison, he messes everything up by trying to force a marriage and Aimee doesn't take it well.
All the while, there is some definite sabotage going on with the business, and Aimee and Harrison are determined to figure out who is trying to create problems. As they dig deeper though, things start to get more dangerous and the question is whether everyone will come out of the deal in one piece. Add to that, Harrison's unwillingness to give his heart to anyone and there is a real chance that Aimee and Harrison don't have a chance.
I loved that you get bits of Aimee in book one and then we get bits of Evie in book two. This book has an interesting story and great characters. It's a quick read and I enjoyed this book. I highly recommend you read both books.

Aimee and her cousin are going to England, with different purposes. Aimee is to take part in social functions (and maybe find a husband), and Evie will attend some training at her Uncle’s London office. Aimee wants to be a bigger part of her father’s company. She talks a reluctant Evie into trading places. Harrison Stone doesn’t know what to think about the niece of the head of the company. She is self-assured, stubborn, and beautiful. She completely confounds him. Their mutual antagonism is entertaining. Something is fishy about the company’s books. They must work together to solve that mystery. The ledgers are not the only problem or danger they must face. Not only is someone out to harm the company, they apparently want to harm Aimee as well. A complex story with a couple of mysteries, danger, a secret identity, and a sizzling romance.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it.

After having read The Heiress Swap last year, I was very happy to see the other story popping up on Netgalley. Because both of the stories are intertwined.
That is: Aimee has persuaded her cousin Evie to swap lifes during their visit to England. In the first part, we follow Evie, and in this second part it’s about Aimee’s part of the swap. I loved Aimee’s character. She is bold and daring and not above some lies and deceit to pursue her dream of following in her father’s footsteps into his company. But, as a woman, Aimee is not supposed to work, not supposed to voice her opinion. And certainly not critize her boss. I loved, how she was relentless in getting her way and showing the world her superpower. You go, girl.
And Harrison: big mouth, but giant marsh mellow underneath. Loved him and his endless bickering with Aimee. Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

⭐️⭐️Don’t Miss This Fantastic Book!⭐️⭐️
Maddison Michaels has truly outdone herself with *The Heiress Masquerade*, the second book in her captivating Dollar Princess series. This historical romance is a delightful mix of charm, wit, and intrigue that kept me hooked from the first page to the last. I loved everything about this story including the characters, the picturesque setting, and of course the brilliant plot!
Get ready as Michaels takes you on a journey through The Gilded Age in Victorian England where I found myself fully immersed in a world of opulence, societal pressures, and the underlying tensions of class and gender expectations. That’s right Michaels brings it all and there were times during this book that I found myself truly upset or overjoyed at the trials and victories that the MCs experience. As usual women were considered inferior to men and incapable of functioning without the guidance of a strong man. 🙄🤐 If I had lived in that era I would have constantly been in trouble as biting my tongue and bowing down to male greatness has never been a virtue of mine.
Alas, Michaels created two characters that make their way together through several different types of foes.
- **Aimee Thornton-Jones**: As the protagonist, Aimee is a breath of fresh air. She's intelligent, fiercely independent, and determined to prove herself in a man's world. Aimee is not your typical 19th-century heroine; she's a woman ahead of her time, navigating both high society's expectations and her own ambitions with grace and wit. One of my favorite quotes that captures her spirit is when Aimee boldly declares, *"I refuse to be just another pretty face in a parade of eligible women. I am my own woman, and I will chart my own course."*
- **Harrison Stone**: Harrison, the brooding and sharp-witted hero, is Aimee’s perfect foil. His internal conflict and growing attraction to Aimee add layers to the story, making their relationship all the more compelling. The chemistry between them is electric, highlighted by their witty banter and undeniable sexual tension. One line that stood out to me was Harrison’s realization: *"Every argument, every challenge she throws at me only deepens my desire to know the woman behind the mask."*
The narrative is filled with unexpected twists and turns, especially as Aimee and Harrison work together to uncover who is threatening her father’s company. The mystery element is woven seamlessly into the romance, adding an extra layer of suspense that kept me turning the pages. Michaels’s ability to balance romance with intrigue is masterful.
Overall, *The Heiress Masquerade* is an absolute gem of a novel, offering everything a historical romance reader could want—romantic tension, a strong-willed heroine, a dashing hero, and a plot that surprises at every turn. Maddison Michaels has crafted a story that is both timeless and timely, and I eagerly await the next installment in this series. If you’re a fan of Bridgerton or The Princess Switch, you’ll fall in love with this

American heiress Aimee Thornton-Jones concocts what she thinks is a great way for her to learn more of her father's business while her cousin, Evie, takes her place among the ton with her chaperone. Aimee intended to take the secretarial course her father had arranged for Evie so that she would have skills to take care of herself once Aimee married, hopefully someone with an English title. Aimee chose to get more information on her father's business so that she could convince him that she was able to take over when he was no longer able to perform his duties. She didn't plan on encountering fellow American Harrison Barnes and when they did meet, Aimee was unable to keep to the script and her natural instincts came out. It was puzzling to Harrison that Evie's uncle thought she was quite and shy when his first interaction with her showed her as anything but those descriptions. Suffice it to say, their subsequent interactions didn't change Harrison's initial impression of Evie but that didn't stop the intense attraction he felt for her and she returned. Neither Harrison, nor Aimee/Evie were planning on marriage and they will each have to deal with their feelings about love, commitment and how to manage them and their aspirations regarding being business owners if they are to have a HEA. The Heiress Masquerade is a wonderful follow-up to Evie's story.

This was my first time reading this author. Overall, the book was good, but something was missing for me. I’m going to give this book 4 stars but really, I’d give it 3 1/2 stars. Aimee and Harrison were likable enough, they had some chemistry, but their personalities were a tad exhausting. Harrison doesn’t want to love because loving leaves you vulnerable to heartbreak. Aimee is a brash American who is threatening to pull her Derringer pistol on Harrison and others way too frequently. By the end, I believed in the chemistry and love of the characters more so, but the story and emotions still fell a little flat. I’m thankful for the HEA, but it was a pretty formulaic, repetitive read start to finish. I did not fall in love with this story or these characters. I’m usually all in on strong female characters, but Aimee really seemed as foolish as she was strong. Still with a read overall.

I found this romance both enjoyable and entertaining. Both main characters, Aimee and Harisson, were likeable. I especially liked the heroine. She is a headstrong, self-confident young woman who knows exactly what she wants. She aspires to have a career and run her father’s companies. For that, she will find a way to access her father’s offices and learn all she can about his business and how to get it. This book is full of tension and twists and turns, and we can't stop reading it. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, which had the perfect mix of romance, spice, and twist.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I liked the book. The plot is well written and intriguing with its hate-love, swapped identity and rags to riches tropes, and is full of banter and bickering, twists, action, danger and a few steamy love scenes.
It took me a while to warm up to Aimée’s character. She is a very strong, independent, goal-oriented personality, but was too rude, unfair and spoilt for me at first. Harrison has his flaws too, but I liked him from the start. Their relationship is a rollercoaster of conflicting emotions, tension and passion.
The book can be read as standalone. The story runs parallel to the first installment, therefore it is also possible to reverse the order if wished.
When her mother wants to send Aimée Thornton-Jones, the daughter of a rich American magnate, to England so that she can have a season in London and find an aristocratic husband, she is furious. Aimée has no intention to become the next Dollar Princess and marry, least of all a destitute English Lord, have children or lead a stifling life as a woman and member of high society. Her greatest wish is to work with her father and one day take over his company. But her father is also against her plans. Aimée therefore decides to swap identities with her cousin Evie Jenkins, who is to accompany her on the crossing to England as her companion and complete a secretarial internship in the European branch of her father's company in London. For Aimée, it is the best opportunity to learn more about the business and prove to her father that she is an excellent businesswoman. The only downside is that the London office is run by Harrison Stone, who, a favorite protégé of her father, she was jealous of all her life and therefore became her nemesis and competitor.
Harrison, the descendant of an English earl but raised in America, was still a boy when his parents died, leaving him alone, penniless and without the support of his English relatives, until Thomas Thornton found him and became his mentor and a kind of foster father to him.
Since then, Harrison has worked his way up in Thornton’s company and now heads the European branch of the company. He is close to achieving his life goals to become wealthy and independent when an important business deal suddenly falls through, the company is sabotaged and additionally he has to deal with his boss's headstrong, intelligent and sassy „niece“, to whom he feels irresistibly attracted...
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I hate it when my expectations aren’t met and unfortunately, that was the case withThe Heiress Masquerade. The premise is solid: an American heiress shipped off to England for the season to catch herself an English Lord chooses instead to swap places with her cousin and instead work in her father’s London office learning the business. Sadly, while Aimee Thornton-Jones is described as highly intelligent and despite her speaking five languages fluently and understanding her father’s business, she also comes across as petulant and, at times, downright childish in her behaviour. I struggled to like her. On the other hand, Harrison Stone, head of the London office, is very easy to like and respect and it was his character that kept me reading when I really wanted to tell Aimee to grow up and stop being such a princess. The plot is reasonably well structured but the dialogue is all wrong for the period in which this book is set, another thing that annoyed me. Add to that some of the word selection was just plain wrong. For example,“... she didn’t seem overly congenial to the idea.” I think the author meant to say “... amenable to the idea.” In other places the sentence structure was just plain clunky. An example is “The man nodded to them, then pushed back his chair and headed straight for the door, his two other men hurrying after him, both glowering at Harrison.” Overall, from a RUBY winning author, I really expected a much better written story. That said, I did finish the book so there were obviously enough hooks to keep me going and perhaps this story will work better for other readers.

This was such an entertaining story! I did like the main characters of Aimee and Harrison. How Aimee thought it would work changing places with her quieter cousin, I don’t know. Aimee was much more outspokenly and used to ordering people about. She certainly wasn’t afraid to go after what she wanted and that was to help run her father’s shipping empire. Harrison is a self made man and determined to get what he wants. Work dominates his thoughts so that he can achieve his goal. Although, Aimee and Harrison didn’t get on at first, the more they spend time together so their attraction grows. However, Harrison is determined not to love anyone due to his background and if Aimee does marry it will only be for love. There is a mystery to solve and some danger but this all added to my interest. This story move along at a good pace and I thoroughly enjoy it. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

3.75 stars. This was an entertaining romance story with a surprise twist. Think Bridgerton meets Prince and the Pauper.
A million-dollar heiress switches places with her illegitimate cousin so her cousin experiences high society while the heiress gets to work for her father's successful business empire. There were moments where the business talk disinterested me, or there were repetitive discussions over marriage, but overall the descriptions and commentary between characters was great.
The romance between Aimee and Harrison was enjoyable. Their banter was funny and yes, there are some spicy scenes. I also really like that we read from both Harrison's and Aimee's POV. Without spoiling anything, I really enjoyed the conflict/subplot towards the end of the book. It was very high-risk and I was fully absorbed by the situation.
Thank you to Entangled Publishing, NetGalley, and Maddison Michaels for the eARC. This is my honest review.
