WOW! This book had me on the edge of my seat and honestly the ending had my jaw drop!! I didn't see it coming!
If you like a good thriller/mystery this book is for you.
Picture this...a sweet family living in a gorgeous home! Mom, Dad, a daughter, and twin boys.
That is until one night Mom and the twins are found dead in the home and the daughter is badly injured...and Dad....he's no where to be found.
Years go by and the daughter who is now a teenager and living with her grandmother wonders about her Dad and what happened that night. Memories have started to return to her and she turns to tik tok to share her story.
While the daughter is sharing her story her aunt (mom's sister) who is a photographer catches an image of her sisters husband in a photo she recently took. She goes to the police for help and that's when things get pretty interesting!
I highly recommend this book! I listened to it and loved the narrator!
5 Stars from me!

The Photo @ajmcdineauthor
I really enjoy this author's books. Having enjoyed receiving an advanced copy of the Baby earlier in the year I knew I would be checking out more of her work. And so I was delighted when I was approved for a copy of the Photo.
The narrator of this book is the same that narrated the Baby and her voice is so calming but she also conveys the story well. It was a joy to listen too.
I love how this author takes subjects and turns them into real page turners. The twists and turns makes it a real rollercoaster for the listener/reader.
One photo can destroy everything and that is exactly what happens to Lara when she sees her sisters husband staring back at her. The man that killed her sister. Everyone thought he was dead so how can he be in this picture? Is her mind playing tricks or is it really him?
Convinced it's him and wanting to protect her sisters daughter Lily and cannot settle. Is he back and what does he want? She's going to protect her family.
The premise of the book was unique and so intriguing that I was dropped and just couldn't get the answers fast enough. She's a really fab author and her thrillers definately deliver.
If you have Kindle Unlimited you can grab this as part of your subscription. It won't disappoint. Fab book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for an audio copy in exchange for an honest review.
Who is the man in the background of her photograph? It can't be him.
Ten years ago, Lara's sister and her family were brutally murdered. The only survivor of the attack is her niece Lily. Jason, her brother-in-law is accused of the murders but has disappeared until now. Lily has begun remembering lost pieces from the night she was attacked. She has decided her career as a social media star will start by live streaming her new revelations about the night in an attempt to solve the case. This one decision unleashes a world of destruction on the tattered family as the murderer attempts to silence Lily forever.
This thriller had my attention from the beginning, with a few plot leaps, it was satisfying. The POV is covered from both Lara and Lily which added a nice dynamic to the storyline. Lara is out to protect her family after loosing so much and Lily being more naïve looks to reconcile her tragic past and the father she loved more than anything. The wrap up at the end still left a few unanswered questions and was a little over the top. Overall this was an enjoyable domestic thriller and I would be interested to read more of McDine's work.
Tamsin Kennard was the narrator and she did an excellent job. She is enjoyable to listen to with a good pace and character development. It might have helped to have had a second narrator for the story but that is not to take away from Kennard's performance. I highly recommend listening to her readings.

A J McDine does it again!! After reading an ARC of The Baby, I was beyond excited to receive an ARC of The Photo through NetGalley. I had high expectations and let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint. I gobbled it up one sitting. I did predict certain outcomes which is why it wasn’t that 5 star rating but it kept me engaged the whole time. I thoroughly enjoy the story, the characters, etc. AJ McDine manages to balance everything perfectly (scene building, character relationships, mystery, suspense). With two back-to-back book releases that I thoroughly enjoyed, this author is now on my “instant buy” author list.
Thank you to NetGalley and A J McDine for this ARC Audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

Lara is a wedding photographer and while scanning through her latest photos, she sees a man who should be dead. He killed her sister and two of their three children ten years ago, then took his own life. Or so everyone was made to think.
What really happen all those years ago and why has Jason resurfaced after all this time? An enjoyable read, gripping plot and highly recommend.

I really liked this - the plot felt believable and realistic and I liked the characters. The ending was good - especially that final twist. An excellent read

The book was ok for me. This was the first from this author and did enjoy. At times the book dragged but I was still pulled into the storyline to find out in the end what happens. The ending a little surprised me but it was interesting of where it went. This book is full of emotions and an easy listen.

This book had me hopping all the way through!
I literally didn't see the twisty mctwisters that rolled through this book!
So Laura's sister was murdered by her husband 10 years ago. She was a photo journalist until that point and then starts taking wedding pics because of what happened to her sister and nephews. her niece is the only one who survives and goes to live with her grandmother. They assume the father killed himself but 10 years later, laura snaps a photo.... The man in the photo is none other than her brother in law.
Holy mcnuggets I was hooked right in and I couldn't stop listening.
The narration was on point and I was drawn right in. This book will keep you on your toes right until the very end and just when you think you know.... you don't know!
The writing is exactly what I need from a thriller author. It was well paced and expertly executed. I loved the characters and it was a solid thriller book.
4.5 stars

This was a great story about a horrific family tragedy at the hands of the husband or was it? He disappeared right after and now it’s many years later and his Sister in law sees him in a photo she took. But is that really him?
I couldn’t stop reading this it was really good though the cover for me is misleading so do not judge this book by that or you will truly miss out.

The Photo by A. J. McDine ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is my second read by author A.J. McDine and I have to say I love her work! This was a fast paced book that left me engrossed by the story. The plot twist was unexpected. I enjoyed the story as well as the amazing narrator, Tamsin Kennard.
Thank you to A.J. McDine, Netgalley, and Bookouture Audio for approving this ARC.

The hook drew me in, and the twists and turns kept me reading. When the man thought to have murdered photographer, Lara's sister and nephews shows up in the background of one of her photos, she must find out why he's back and protect her remaining family from him while getting answers for the case that's haunted her for years. Great quick read.

"The Photo" by A.J. McDine is a great psychological thriller! If this genre is one you like, you'll want to check out this one! It's an unputdownable fast read or listen.
Laura is a wedding photographer and former news photographer. Ten years ago, her sister, Isabel, and twin toddler boys were murdered. Everyone thought it was her husband, Jason, who did it, and he had disappeared. One day, while taking landscape photos, Laura gets a picture of a man she later recognizes as Jason. She is terrified!
Isabel had an older child, Lily, who survived the attack. Lily is now 15 years old and living with her grandmother. Is Lily in danger again?
This book has an outstanding plot. It moves right along with plot and action. It is set in England in modern times.
The audiobook is expertly narrated by Tamsin Kennard. I love her, but I would like to listen to other thrillers with different narrators who are just as good. She's the main narrator doing all the thrillers from England lately.

This is quite a read. It is fast paced, breath taking.
The narrator is awesome! I enjoyed the narration very much.
The plot keeps you interested, you may find little to be bored with.
Unnecessary 2 last chapters :)

It has been ten years since he fled, ten years since Laura’s sister and two young boys were brutally murdered…by their father, Jason Carrillo. There was only one survivor, Jason’s daughter, five-year-old Lily. Jason has not been seen since that fateful night….until the photo was taken.
Laura used to be a photographer for a newspaper until that gruesome night, now she is filling her resume with weddings. But one day as she is taking photos she somehow captures a stranger in one of her shots, but it is really no stranger. It is her brother-in-law Jason. How can this be? Why has he come back now, is he back to finish what he didn’t ten years ago and kill his daughter? Laura must find him before he finds Lily. However, Lily has put her own life in danger as she has started a social podcast looking for answers and possibly her father.
Overall rating 5/5
A.J. McDine has done it again! Such a nail biting, gripping thriller to the very end. McDine has you convinced as a reader that you know all the facts, and the story's plot line but throws a curve ball twist in the end that has you gasping “wait, what, who” , well at least I did. I listened to this book which was narrated by the wonderful Tamsin Kennard. As always she has such an impeccable ability to make the listener feel as if they are immersed within the pages of the book.
*Thank you to A.J. McDine, Tamsin Kennard, Bookouture Audio, and Netgalley for the ARC copy. I am freely leaving my honest review.

3 stars
I just didn’t enjoy this domestic thriller as much as I usually do. I can’t tell if it was the lack of character development or the storyline that didn’t mesh with me, but it could’ve been a little of both. There were also a couple of repetitive parts where I think almost the same lines were being repeated in two different sections of the book. It might be an editing error or some serious Deja vu. I also wasn’t digging the “big reveal” near the end. It just really fell short for me, unfortunately.
The narrator was a delight to listen to though and I’d be happy to hear her again.
Thank you to the author, NetGalley, and Bookouture Audio for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ten years after her sister was brutally killed, Lara has gotten her life back together and things are going well for her as a wedding photographer....until her sister's murderer shows up in the background of one of her photos.
I absolutely loved this one! It hits the ground running, giving you a brief glimpse into Lara's perfectly normal life before jumping right into the crux of the story and filled in the backstory in a way that built the suspense. Parts of the story were wild but never crossed into unbelievable, the story was complex but not convoluted. the characters were real and flawed but not annoying..... everything was just really well constructed. The ending was a good surprise but once you get the plot twist you realize there were little hints along the way which is so hard to do. I absolutely could not put it down, can't wait for more from this author!

Wow!! This book truly had me hooked from the beginning and had me until the very end. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator made it even better. I loved all the twists and turns, red herrings and just the wild ride! The ending blew me away, highly recommend!

If you’d love a good, addictive psychological thriller, read The Photo!
I had several suspects in my mind. AJ McDine created a suspicious world & then took my mind for a spin in the end!
Tamsin Kennard once again narrated perfectly! I’m never disappointed with hearing her read me a book!
Thank you, AJ McDine Bookouture, Bookouture audio & netgalley for my ecopy & audiobook! All opinions are my own.

Thank you to Bookouture Audio/Netgalley for the opportunity to listen to this book early! This book is gripping from the beginning until the end. It will have you guessing the whole time! I thought I had caught on pretty early as to what was going on but let me tell you, I did not! It’s a twist you won’t see coming. Don’t miss out on The Photo!!

This fast paced book captured my attention right from the start. I loved the way in which Lara’s work as a photographer was woven into the story of her family tragedy—the murder of her sister and nephews and disappearance of her brother-in-law ten years earlier. The story is set in motion when Lara snaps a photo that seems to include her missing brother-in-law, and around the same time her niece, who survived the murder of her mother and brothers, starts to remember some details about it. As they piece together bits of information the plot thickens. There is a lot of family drama and a few red herrings thrown in, and some significant twists. This is a definitely a thriller to check out! Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this audiobook.
