This was such an interesting read on a topic I didn’t know much about before I started! As a keen falconer, I absolutely love the natural world, especially birds of prey. I was aware of the peregrine fund and their amazing work to bring the peregrine population back from the brink, and I knew that the bald eagles in the US had gone through something similar but I didn’t know much else about it. Every chapter taught me new things, and I am so inspired by the author, who managed to push herself into becoming an essential cog in the world of raptors. I absolutely loved reading her story, as well as the eagles’ stories!

Return to the Sky is Tina Morris’ account of how she hacked seven bald eaglets in the Northeastern part of the United States. After having been brought to near extinction due to DDT, this creature’s reintroduction was monumental to her, to professional raptor caretakers, scientists, and to the entirety of our nation, as the eagle is symbolic of our country and its freedom. This was an incredibly beautiful account of Tina Morris and the fieldwork and research she performed in the 1960’s and 70’s. Thanks to her incredible work and immense part she played, she brought back an incredible bird to the Northeastern United States. Thank you to Netgalley for the wonderful opportunity, I adored this title.
