What an excellent and informative children’s book about octopuses. I learned a lot from reading this, and know my sons will enjoy the book as well. The scope of content is ideal for young readers!
Thank you NetGalley and Owl Kids for this advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
I would like to give a huge thank you to #NetGalley and #OwlkidsBooks for eArc copy of What About an Octopus in exchange for my honest opinion.
As an elementary education teacher I am always looking for book I can introduce into my classroom for me to read and for my students to enjoy.
What About an Octopus is a fun and engaging text which introduces information about octopus in a great way for students and young children to understand and enjoy. This is important because students I find are always interested in learning about things so introducing the story in the way this was written will keep students interested. It would definitely recommend this story to anyone.
Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy! I loved this octopus story. Great facts about these animals and a sweet story to follow along. The illustrations are beautiful!
What About an Octopus? is a delightful picture book about a young girl who searches in the ocean for a seashell & finds an octopus instead!
The illustrations were spectacular, & I loved how many details were hidden on each page. I thought the pacing was really nice, and it was easy to follow the young girl's journey as she looked for and learned about the octopus on each page. I also appreciated the octopus facts that were scattered throughout the book, and I found myself learning more about octopuses throughout the story.
Thanks to NetGalley, Deborah Kerbel, and Owlkid Books for the chance to read & review!
I was pleasantly surprised by this book! At first, I thought this book would be boring and too advanced for the intended audience. I was proven wrong! There was a clear story of the main character's adventure when they come across an octopus while searching for shells. Each event that happened with the octopus was perfectly set up for the author to throw in a fun fact on every page spread. I have zero doubt that kids will read this book quickly become fascinated and obsessed with octopuses. I know this because every fact I read was actually interesting and relevant. I even learned some stuff! Lastly, the pictures were so detailed they were almost interactive, which will definitely keep readers engaged throughout the entire book (ex. page 24).
Bravo!
There is nothing better than a educational book that has a storyline to keep young readers attention while they learn. I will be ordering a physical copy once it is available.
The illustrations are so cute. I have two little girl (2 and 5) and they thought that the colorations and depictions were so interesting. There was a lot to see in each illustration. We like to take time to look at what is in the details. For example, "Can you find a starfish?". This book gave us that.
As for the content, 10/10. There was a cute little story about a girl looking for seashells and found a friend in an octopus. Between each interaction between the little girl and the octopus, there are facts about octopi with an additional list of facts at the end. It is nice to learn something yourself when reading with my girls.
I am always looking for fun and educational books for my littles to learn. I am a strong believer in making learning fun and fit something educational in as often as possible. When kids learn and don't realize they are learning, it make a mother's job easier.
Thank you NetGalley, Deborah Kerbel, Dawn Lo, and Owlkids Books for allowing us to review.
