I loved this book. Hailey and jays chemistry was great!! I love Christmas stories and this one was great!
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Hailey loves her job but is excited about winter break. When she gets a chance to go away she jumps at the chance. She hopes to write music while she is away. I enjoyed this book.
Infused with Christmas joy! Reading Debbie Macomber’s A Christmas Duet is akin to drinking a delicious cup of hot chocolate by the fire on a snowy December day. Like the best of the Hallmark Channel’s holiday fare, this book is all heart - and Christmas music, love and joy and other tropes a plenty. Sure the romance plotlines are preposterous, but this oh so cozy novella is designed to get us all in the Christmas spirit, and that it does! And I loved the songwriting plot and the settings in an isolated log cabin and the nearby village. A very merry and quick read!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Ballantine Books for a complementary ARC. Opinions are my own.
I have been a Debbie Macomber fan for years. When I need a book that feels like family, I grab one of her books. A Christmas Duet was just that book for me.
Hailey was a high school band teacher with hopes of becoming a songwriter. It was time for the holidays, and she just could not make herself go home to be with her family. A friend offered her the use of their cabin and Hailey jumped at the chance to go and give her the quiet she needed to write songs.
This time was hers to do as she wanted but with her family unsure of where she was and how long she would be gone they did everything they could to find her.
She did not foresee what her future was to be but when she met Jay they felt so comfortable with each other.
The relationships with the characters in this book felt so real to me and I enjoyed this book so much.
I recommend this book to everyone who needs a book that touches your soul. Thank you NetGalley, Debbie Macomber and Random House Publishing Group for the ARC of the book The Christmas Duet.
This is my personal review.
When you want to slip into the cozy warmth of the holidays, A Christmas Duet is a perfect choice. Macomber once again brings her uncanny ability to capture sweet romance and wrap it with all the Christmas magic and holiday feels that kept me glued to my seat and engrossed in Hailey and Jay’s story. Hailey and Jay share an instant connection and I loved the chemistry as they got to know one another and share their love of music. The small town of Podunk has its own Christmas magic and seeing Hailey grow in confidence with her music and her own boundaries was a treasure. The family drama is cringey for sure and I still think someone deserved coal in their stocking, but that is the beauty of forgiveness. Curl up with a warm cup of joy and loose yourself for a few hours in this winter wonderland.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.
Hailey Morgan has always wanted to be a songwriter but I an assistant high school band teacher. As the holidays approach she is dreading to go home to family and her meddling mother. When a close friend offers her the use of the family cabin she jumps at the chance. After a few disasters she settles in to spend all her time writing. Family drama still finds her and disrupts her quiet time. Even with the challenges Hailey is determined to move along with her music. Small town romance and family make for a fun read.
A Christmas Duet is a sweet read filled with fun, often quirky characters. It leaves the reader feeling good about love, and maybe a bit frustrated by pushy mothers.
🎁Merry Christmas in July!! 🎄
I was so excited to get an ARC of Debbie Macomber’s newest Christmas book. She’s one of my favorite Christmas authors and her stories are always so cute with plenty of Christmas spirit and cheer.
This book follows aspiring songwriter Hailey, who spends Christmas at a remote cabin in a small town in Oregon. She wants some peace and quiet to work on writing her songs. Once she arrives at the small town, she meets Jay, who also loves music, and the two of them grow close to each other.
This was such a sweet story. I liked the music aspects, and how music basically brought the two main characters together. The characters were well developed and the book was easy to read. I also loved all the festive elements, especially the little Christmas festival that the town celebrated. The romance happened fairly quickly, but the book itself is pretty short, so that didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the story.
I don’t know how Debbie Macomber does it, but I always seem to enjoy her Christmas books. They put a smile on my face and get me in a festive mood for sure!
If you like Christmas books, definitely pick up this one. It was a cute and festive read.
Excellent book from Debbie Macomber. She is my favorite authors. I look forward to reading her books, especially the Christmas stories. I found it hard to put this book down. The chemistry between Hailey and Jay was do magnetizing. I couldn't wait to find out how it ended. Glad Zach is not in her present. Happy for her sister, Daisy as well. All over a great read.
The story centers around Hailey following her dreams to be a song writer. She goes to her friends family's cabin and meets Jay as she encounters animals in there. Jay helps her get rid of them. Sitting down she grabs her guitar and starts writing a song which Jay loved. Later she performs the song at a winter festival where it goes viral on you tube. Meanwhile she went to the cabin to be alone and her family tracks her down to spend Christmas with her. First her sister shows up, then her parents and her ex boyfriend. She gets rid of the ex. Her sister' S boyfriend shows up and ask her for marriage.
Later on a big song producer shows up and wants to sign Bailey on but she is determined to sign with Jay. After a conversation with her he wants her to sign with the sing producer but she doesn't want to.
He says he is staying in Seattle and hangs up. She decides she is going to go there to meet with him. She needs to get the address from his mother. She goes there and finds Jay is there. After seeing him and exposing everything to him she decides to sign a contract with him. He asks her to marry him so they can make a duet with him.
Hailey Morgan's dreams of writing music and of being a professional musician have been sidelined by her full time job as an assistant band director. Upon learning that her ex-boyfriend will be spending Christmas with her family, she is desperate to escape that agony. An opportunity for quiet time to focus on her music becomes available when a friend offers a remote family cabin for Hailey's use. A beautiful cabin awaits, along with the quaint town of Podunk, a charming Christmas atmosphere and a talented, handsome musician named Jay. Hailey and her sister Daisy (who pops in unannounced) explore their own love interests (Jay and Charles) and whether the relationships are possible.
As a reader, I was irritated and frustrated by the unannounced visitors ...who not only visited...but assumed they would be allowed to stay. I wanted Hailey to turn everyone away (except Daisy...after their heartfelt conversation) or leave them at the cabin and head elsewhere. The selfishness of her family and of the ex-boyfriend give this Christmas story too much negativity for me.

A Christmas Duet is a standalone Christmas romance by Debbie Macomber. This wonderful book had me feeling all the feels. I loved the characters and their stories.
I will be buying this as Christmas gifts this year because I want to ensure everyone I know gets to read this!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Debbie Macomber never disappoints! Christmas Duet is a beautiful Christmas novel. A solo trip tor Hailey is what destiny had planned for this Christmas. Until Jay walked in to get rid of some critter roommates. From there, being solo was just not an option. Over the course of the days leading up to Christmas, Hailey ends up coming face-to-face with more than she planned. Will she find what she is looking for in the end? The story was beautifully written with the characters coming to life before your eyes! A definite must read.
Wonderful quick Christmas read! I always love Debbie Macomber books and this one was a winner! It has your typical happy hallmark feel, with love and unexpected suprises along the way. I loved the ending, even though I knew it would happen that way. 100% worth a read! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!
I expect a Christmas romance from Debbie Macomber to be excellent and this one does not disappoint. Wonderful characters, a small town, snow filled setting and plenty of chances to cry happy tears
The holidays never feel the same without reading Debbie Macomber; and this truth carries forward with her newest book-A Christmas Duet. This holiday romance is the perfect way to kick off the holidays. I highly recommend curling up with a cozy blanket and cup of hot chocolate while reading the love story of Hailey and Jay.
Hailey, a music teacher from Portland, takes advantage of spending the holidays alone in an isolated cabin. She wants to refocus on music which she has a passion for but had lost track of. Jay, a local hometown celeb of sorts, connects with Hailey and they quickly find a shared love for music. Some family and holiday drama threatens to interrupt the blooming romance between Hailey and Jay-can they navigate these challenges together or will this be a short lived holiday fling?
This book is exactly what I expect out of a Debbie Macomber book. It is a comfort read that I can quickly consume while imagining a winter wonderland with characters that will be enjoyable. It proves that Debbie continues to be the Queen of Christmas Romance.
My only suggestions? I have two. 1. The mom is ridiculously annoying and pushy. It is part of the character but had me absolutely cringing. 2. I missed a holiday recipe at the end of the book. I was hoping for a cookie or frittata recipe as so many delicious dishes were mentioned. Oh well, I just need to crack open one of Debbie's cookbooks and find one!
This one was really cute. I love a good Debbie Macomber Christmas book. I look forward to reading them every year, so I was super excited when I was approved for this. I love how wholesome they are. And they always help get me in the Christmas spirit. This was no different. It had all the Christmas vibes. I loved Hailey and Daisy and their love interests Jay/Jethro and Charles. It wouldn't be a DM book without a happy ending and this one delivered in spades! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Author Debbie Macomber gives us another wonderful romantic holiday novel.
Hailey Morgan has always had dreams of becoming a professional music writer. She works as an assistant high school band leader in Portland. As Christmas approaches, she dreads the thought of spending it with her family and her mother’s constant questions regarding her love life and when there will be grandchildren.
Hailey’s friend offers her the use of the family cabin in a small, out of the way town of Podunk, Oregon. She jumps at the chance to spend the time writing songs and having time just to herself.
Many characters and activities happen while she is there, turning her plans upside-down.
You will definitely want to add this book to your holiday reading material. I loved this book and highly recommend it to those who enjoy Debbie Macomber’s books. Thanks to Random House – Ballentine and NetGalley for the advance copy of this book. The opinions expressed are my own.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Random House for providing me with this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This is a lovely, cozy Christmas story with all the elements that make reading a Debbie Macomber book such a joy. I enjoyed the main characters and the sweet romantic story along with getting quite annoyed (in a good way) with the ex-boyfriend and the main character's mom. This is one of those stories that I will look forward to reading again and again to get me into the Christmas spirit.
I'll will be posting this on NetGalley and GoodReads for now and then additionally on BookBub, Kobo, and Amazon once the book is released.
