Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this audiobook.

This story is good for a summer read. It’s light and fun. However, the narrators were not it for me. The male narrator was very monotone so it was a bit hard to get through. I would recommend reading the ebook or a physical copy rather than listening to the audio. I will be reading the next book in the series on my kindle.

Thank you for this audiobook Netgalley. It overall just fell a little flat for me. Love the small town romance vibe/girl taking time for herself but overall just wasn’t my cup of tea!

Common tropes, summer vacation rich girl meets local guy and they fall in love. I had high hopes for this book because my last Heidi book was highly emotional and this one felt flat

I received the audiobook arc from NetGalley.

Reviewing the audiobook specifically: I had the speed going on 1.75x and it still felt slow. I probably could have bumped up to 2x. I liked the narrators; they did a good job performing the book and gave the characters more personality.

The four star rating is because this is a cute, fast paced book, but also not my absolute favorite. The tropes are: small town and vacation romance, Ivy League vs blue collar, miscommunication, slow burn. There is some spice. Dune is the perfect man and Caroline is more simple than you’d think at first glance. The resolution between the two was mended abruptly and the ending wasn’t satisfactory. Overall, I’d say this is a good book for a palette cleanse between heavy books.

I usually adore stories about the tension filled summer romance between the townie and the out of towner but this one fell a little flat.
I couldn’t seem to care about any of the characters.
I enjoyed the narrator so that was a plus. But it was just hard to get into.

Summer on Cape Cod, a local boat tour captain, an Ivy League recent college graduate spending one last summer of freedom trying to find herself before starting the fast paced career her father chose for her…it is a pretty typical plot line. The characters add a neee depth and dimension to the story, though, which really makes this story stand out from some of the others. If you like small town, beachy summer romances, give this one a try!

I liked the female narrator on this audiobook, and also the male’s voice, but when the male narrator was voicing the female, I wasn’t a big fan.

Anyone looking for a beach summery romance this is for you!

We have city girl Caroline who is looking for an escape from her business driven world and falls right into the arms of Dune, the town's playboy who is known for his flings with out-of-towners. This book is sweet and light hearted. A little insta-love but I think that the third act relationship issues make sense and weren't too farfetched. I love a good bad-boy so I was hoping for a little more bad boy elements to go with the playboy reputation but the romance was sweet.l

I recommend this book to anyone looking to pick up a New England style beach romance with low stacks. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this story.

It was a good typical romance, girl from affluence and local boy meet up. I enjoyed it but it was a little bit too predictable for my liking.

This was a great read but I was not able to finish it. I only had it for one day and then it disappeared from my app. But I got to more than 50% and I will be listening to the rest! I fell in love with the island setting and I want to live there! I would rate this 4⭐️ based on the reading I did finish. So good!!!!

In this story we have Dune and Caroline in this beautiful and spicy story that starts with Caroline deciding to spend her summer after graduation in a small town. She decided to do a boat trip around the town and that’s where she meets Dune. They both knew there was something there from that first look. Though Dune’s history and Caroline’s future could end this before it really begins. I loved this book so much and ugh Dune is so dreamy, what a guy!

3.5 ⭐️

Attempting to take a break from her buttoned up life, Caroline heads to Seaport for the Summer after graduating from Yale. There she meets a boat captain and her new boss, Dune, who also happens to be the local playboy. Together they give boat tours to the local tourists while trying to deny their growing feelings for each other. As the summer is nearing the end, can Caroline go back to her normal life and will Dune ever see their relationship as more than just a summer fling?

Samantha Summers is a great narrator! I enjoyed listening to her. I wasn’t a fan of Stephen Borne as a narrator myself, but he definitely sounded like an outdoorsy surfer guy. His voice grew on me throughout the book, but it still took me out of it a little bit.

Caroline just believed everything bad in Dune from some random guy she never met before? Her immaturity drove me crazy that she just disappeared and didn’t talk to him, even when he was counting on her for work. I don’t mind miscommunication tropes, but I just don’t really buy completely believing someone you’ve never met before about the man you’re in love with and not giving him a chance to explain anything. It almost made me want Dune to just move on since he deserved better!

I didn’t feel fully invested in Caroline and Dune’s love story, but I did like it. Besides the main conflict that never should have happened, I loved the ending. It was sweet and cute with a little bit of sexy thrown in. This is a perfect beach read!

Thank you to NetGalley and RBmedia for an audio ARC in exchange for my honest opinion!

This one just wasn't for me. I just couldn't ever get into it. The story kind of dragged for me. I didn't connect with Captain blue balls aka Dune or Caroline at all. I was really hoping to love this one. I thought the narrators did a great job. Huge thanks to Netgalley and Tango Audio for allowing me to listen and review this book.

Caroline spends the summer after her Ivy League graduation in Seaport and falls in love with Dune, a charter tour captain. Everyone in Seaport knows Dune, his family and his previous hook ups. There were a ton of spicy scenes, however all of them were lacking emotion. I never fully connected with Caroline as a character. There were very few side characters, and I didn’t believe in the insta love between Caroline and Dune. The dialogue between Caroline and Dune seemed very juvenile. There was a lot of telling and not showing in the story. Not every book can be for me.

A summer in a quaint New England town where there’s a cute boat captain who’s interested in you? Sign me up. Caroline is spending what she thinks is her last summer of freedom before she starts her corporate job, that her dad planned for her. Dune was not a part of Caroline’s summer plans.

This book has is all, banter, romance, a cute town, family members who but into your business - in the most endearing ways

Thanks to #netgalley and the publisher for this great summer audible.

I have one word for this book: cringe.

I ultimately DNF'd at the 15% mark after excusing at least 15 cringey moments. Him calling her Care Bare after their first night knowing each other, which he uses as his "flirty exit line"? Barf. Her saying she can forever swim in his eyes? So overdone. I try not to be a harsh reviewer, but this was unavoidable.

The Lobster Trap by Heidi McLaughlin and Kassidy Maye is the first book that Heidi co-wrote with her daughter Kassidy and they did an amazing job. I loved Dune and Caroline’s story so much. This is a small-town romance set in the beautiful beach community of Seaport. What starts out as just a summer romance turns out to be so much more with lots of drama that keeps you hooked. I thought the narrators did a great job and make it an enjoyable listen. I really loved this book and highly recommend this audio book.

Cute. Quick listen that touches on all the notes and tropes one would want from the genre. The characters are likable, and the story moves and a great pace.
There are some inconsistencies in description, but not enough to detract from the story as a whole.

Thank you NetGalley and to the publisher for the audio ARC of this work in exchange for my honest review.

⭐️ 4.5/5. An ‘Elle Woods decides to summer in a small seaside town and then falls for the playboy boat captain’ romance novel. ❤️🛥️🦞 🌊 👠 This is a feel good, self-discovery novel that’s perfect for summer. There’s witty banter, dual POV/narrators in the audiobook, spicy time on a boat, and a great epilogue. Also, the detailed descriptions in this book made me feel like I could really visualize everything!
My only complaint is that at one point the two main characters have unprotected sex. I think books portraying this without discussing any consequences can give people bad advice and lead to uninformed choices. Aside from that though, I really enjoyed this book! Also, the audiobook just published earlier this week. I’d highly recommend adding this to your summer reading/listening list!
