A very very cute book with so many adorable cat comics, absolutely loved it. An easy and fun read!
It was beautifully illustrated, and the comics were fun, adorable, emotional and just full of cats, so in short PERFECT.
This was such a cute, heartwarming but also funny read! The illustrations were really beautifully made and the colors were amazing. On every page cats and their thoughts were accurately captured and there were so many things in it that made it so incredible heartwarming! I got the urge to show my cats everyone of the pages to them (especially to my black cat). I can honestly recommend this to every cat owner. I just loved it!
This was a wonderful collection of sweet little affirmations alongside wonderful illustrations of cats. I think there’s something here for everyone; and it’s sure to leave one feeling warm and fuzzy. It wonderful to be able to see more of the clearly carefully chosen work from an artist who’s work I regularly enjoy on instagram! Thank you for illustrating cats, this was a wonderful read ~
This book was the cutest book ever! It makes you giggle and smile over its funny jokes and feel a warmth inside you whenever you feel down. I would definitely recommend reading it and I hope it gets the recognition it deserves!
This book was such a cute motivation book with adorable drawings of cats. It made me smile and laugh a lot. I think it would be the most wonderful little pick-me-up for when someone is feeling sad. I really hope that it gets the recognition it deserves!
I found this comic to fun and charming. I had not read this authors comics before but found I really enjoyed his artwork and sense of humor. Some of the ideas seemed a bit repetitive but overall I liked the uplifting messages and insights.
No one can resist a kitty, and especially a purring kitty! Wonderful drawings of kitties and motivational words contained in a wonderful book! I will read this again and again at different times of my life to take inspiration from the kitties.
Thank you to Andrew McMeel Publishing for publishing and sharing this wonderful ARC with me.
Portuguese illustrator Luis Coelho's delightful collection of comics—an extension of his popular Instagram @purr.in.ink—is filled with affirmations and encouraging reminders to find joy in making mistakes, chasing lost dreams, and refilling empty food bowls, and accepting bites are a sign of love.
I am not a fan of Inspirational bruhha but somehow when it's delivered by fuzzy black kittens and cats I just melt.
Each panel is frame worthy just based on the artwork alone. The colors are so beautiful and the cats are just adorable.
I found myself taking screen shots of so many of them just so I could have them close when I needed to hear that noatter what,my cat loves me and thinks I'm very biteable
Inside you will find illustrations focusing on self-care, meditation, encouragement, love, and silliness. I love the silliness. It breaks up the Pollyanna feeling that can overcome me when I read too many inspirational writings, and they make me smile.
I admit the ending wasn't expected by me but it fit. It is life with cats, and life in general. Just beautiful.
Highly recommended.
Thanks to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the eARC in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.
Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the eARC. I adore Luis Coelho's cats on Instagram, and I really enjoyed this collection. While there are a number of illustrations from Coelho's Instagram in this book, there are also fancier ones that I believe are new (and IMHO, even prettier). While it is somewhat hard to tell without the physical book, the layout is clever, pairing complementary ideas incredibly well. There is a decent range here, with illustrations focusing on self-care, meditation, encouragement, love, and silliness. I would have preferred a little less silliness, but that's just a matter of personal taste (am not into poo jokes). I love that the book can be read in any order (as the introduction points out), but the set order works just fine. The ending is fantastic, mirroring life! This book seems to be a great opportunity to get Coelho's art for a very affordable price. (The cover is supurrrb!) I look forward to the work coming out in physical form (hopefully, on paper that makes the art look its best). It will be purrr-fect!
This is 100% cute and funny. I love the art in this book and really enjoyed each page. This is something that appeals to many.
I think I picked the wrong couple of days to read this book because now I miss my babies so much??
It’s a series of the cutest kitty comics, some motivational, some aggressive (in a cute way).
I have enjoyed this author's Instagram and his comics for a while and was excited to get a chance to read this book. I find the artist's style to be quite enjoyable and the short comics are fun and engaging and thought-provoking. I only wish that the book were a little longer. I have at least one friend that I intend to recommend this book to when it is published.
I received an advanced copy of this book from Netgalley. All opinions are my own.
What an adorable book! If you love cats, you’ll love the little details and the heartwarming quotes on every page. Of course there’re the devilish cat thoughts!
Thanks to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the ARC!
Aww this was an adorable book! I loved it! As an adult this warmed my little heart while reading <3
Thanks so much for the arc!
This is everything I could want in a book and more. I adore these cat illustrations with pages of funny, interesting, and relatable words! Easy 5 stars and recommendation to my audience.
I read this with my cat on my lap, queue the librarian stereotypes, and yes I was wearing a sweater. It was thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. It was cute and funny, and even thought provoking. This would make a great gift for the cat lover in your life and I've already thought of a few.
I wanted to read this in appreciation of our own black kitty who reminds me daily to take time for myself and found The Book of Purrs to be chock full of terrific and adorable kitty illustrations and really positive, often meditative, messages.
This is an enjoyable book to purrrruse to get your daily fill of floofy yet regal black kitties and necessary messages to be kinder to ourselves.
Overall wonderful for (middle school grade and up) kids and adults alike, the majority of the messages that go along with the cats are extremely positive and great affirmations. ** Some of the messages are more profane than mindful so parents will want to look through this before offering to younger readers.
Thank you to Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for the PDF
This is the type of graphic novel that doesn’t have a story, each panel is his own thing. I think this would be fun on a rainy day, a bit like taking a tarot card? Instead pick a page of this book and pull that smile to the surface. Or the book to keep in your night table and enjoy a page before bed?
If you read it as a whole, which I did, for this review; even tho the panels are not connected, you can’t deny that it’s still cute and makes you smile and just go all “awwww”. But I think it’s better enjoyed one page at a time. They are encouraging and funny and if you are a cat person like me, it’s bound to make your heart warm.
The way it’s drawn it’s adorable, I think it went perfectly with a black cat at the centre. They are such simple illustrations, but they are jut the perfect amount of details and cuteness in them.
Oh wow, this was adorable. And honestly had me tearing up a little with the last few.
Would be great for anyone who's already a fan of the artist, someone who loves cats, or someone who just needs a little bit of love.

The forward says this is ideal in random order at random times and that’s the right call. I could see this as something to gift a high school graduate or to someone with an office, people who can turn to it randomly and have a laugh or a pause or something.
The art is really cute and the colors are nice. The fonts were pretty easy to read, too.
Side note, this made me really glad my cats aren’t biters.
