This is a cute superfast read. The sort of book you have on your coffee table or office desk. As a cat lover, I could definitely relate to much of it! I was provided with a free copy by the publisher and this review is my honest opinion.

These illustrations are precious! I love how expressive the kitty eyes are.

Also the messages swing between deeply thoughtful and hilarious.

This would make a great encouragement/cheer up gift or stocking/basket filler for anyone who loves cats.

The artwork is absolutely adorable and I love the witty, inspirational lines to go along with them. It's a book you can go back to on any page and enjoy. I can see it being given as a gift or on a coffee table for anyone to look at. Definitely a must have for cat lovers!

Thank you for the ARC!

For cat lovers ... although it's about more than cats! The Book of Purrs is cute, calming and inspirational. It made me smile and chuckle and cheered me up. It incorporates the quirkiness of cats with caring, advice and encouragement. The drawings showed some funny cat poses and expressions. I enjoyed reading it all at once, but it would also work well as a page a day read. Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the digital ARC.

This book was adorable, I loved the artwork, which I knew going in I would as I follow this artist, but the words and collection overall was fun, wholesome etc. One page would make me laugh, the next smile and it's just such a fun diverse collection of affirmations and cats done in a delightfully uplifting way. I can't wait for it to release, and I hope I can get a physical copy I absolutely adored this, I might actually reach out for a physical copy from the publisher so I can make a few tiktok videos on it. I expected to like it but I adored this collection. It would also make a very good deck of affirmation cards.

If you ever needed a little book of wisdom from cats, here is the book for you. Here are 96 pages of cats' thoughts, and the author seems to have channeled them well. Based on his instagram account of the same sorts of comics, this collects thoughts just like they came from your favorite cat.

One example: “You deserve someone who look at you like you are the best thing that exists and then bites you.” So typically cat like.

Other times, it is more like a reflection. “In the here. In the now. No worries. Only Meow.”

And other times, it is just something you wish your cat would say: “Sometimes the world is cold, so I made this soup for you.”

And one I totally agree with “Existing is complicated. But napping solves most of it.”

The drawings are whimsical, and it is written like some affirmation books. YOu are only supposed to check on it day by day, not sit and read it all in one gulp.

Definitely a coffee table or gift book. Light, and fluffy, much like a cat.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review. This bok will be published on the 22nd of October 2024.

The Little Book of Purrs is a delightful little book filled with adorable fuzzy, big-eyed cats and rather profound advice.

I honestly thought this was just going to be a cute humorous one, but the text here is very much about healing, mental health affirmations and being kind to yourself. Yes, there's the odd one about food bowls and "love bites", but the overarching theme is about support.

Spoiler warning - the last 2 items in the book had me in tears.

A lovely little book that embodies the healing powers of pets, particularly for those battling mental health struggles, this book will do best as a physical copy, so you can read a random page a day - it's not designed to be read cover to cover.

~ Many thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review~

This was adorable. I loved the artwork, and the text was very sweet, and sometimes laugh-out-loud funny. There were a lot of platitudes, but I’m willing to accept that cats think in platitudes.

This precious book just made my heart happy.

I am immensely grateful to Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for my copy.

I know that I don't exactly read a lot of comics, but I've seen Luis Coelho's art before on Instagram and I couldn't resist adding The Book Of Purrs to my shelves. This is actually an e-copy of what will be a hardcover when published, and I was lucky enough to have access to it early. I have to say that this would make the perfect table book and/or gift for any cat lover! The Book Of Purrs offers you a collection of inspirational messages and positive affirmations, giving you a dose of feel-good on each page to help cheer you up whenever you feel a bit down. I do have to say that the messages and illustrations were a bit repetitive in points, and I think this bundle works better in a small dose at a time instead of reading the whole collection in one go. It's the perfect book to have at hand for whenever you need a little mood enhancer, opening it to whatever page is next and let those kitties warm your heart. The illustrations themselves are simple, but very much effective and absolutely adorable. Luis Coelho has a clear style and it works in perfect harmony with the affirmations offered. Cat owners will recognize more than one situation along the way! All in all I ended up having a great time reading this comic collection.

The Book of Purrs is a book full of funny and inspirational comics, paired with adorable black cat illustrations. I loved the funny comics and how accurate some of them were. The illustrations were so cute, especially when the cats had big pupils.

Perfect for cat lovers.

The Book of Purrs is full of delightful black cat illustrations. I’ve followed the artist on Instagram, so I knew I had to check this out. I love the mixture of sweet, quirky, and feisty phrases paired with even sweeter, quirkier, and feistier kitties. By far the best part of this collection is the artwork with the variety of poses and expressions on the feline friends. The only critique I have would be to try mixing up some of the messages to avoid repeating similar messages across the short page span. Overall, though, this was a short, fun, engaging read.

The Book of Purrs is an artfully illustrated coffee table book full of cats, compassion and a few bites!

It is full of beautiful affirmations and encouragement, with a healthy dose of reality and humility that only a cat can deliver. I found it relaxing to flick through, and the standalone comic strips are great to consume as a bite size pick-me-up.

The illustrations are soft, glowing and engaging, perfectly capturing the duality of cats, and bringing emotion to each page. I’ve already bookmarked a few pages!

Thank you Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for a copy of this book. Opinions expressed are my own.

Thank you Andrew Mcmeel publishing, NetGalley and Luis Coelho for the eArc of The Book of Purrs.

Being a cat lover all my life, I loved this short illustrated book by Luis. The illustrations are simple with a lovely colour palette and most in a story book type setting or panelled. The little ditties/inspirational sayings are cute with a black cat theme. Usually about purrs, healing and the occasional love bit! I loved the one with the two kitties conferring, saying that this human ( the reader ) they would happily purr for.

I feel that giving this to someone at any age is appropriate, especially if they are a cat lover. Would love to see a series of these books with different coated/types of cats!

A nice 4 stars

So cute! The art was sweet, and all of the little sayings nd messages were very sweet. This would be a fun gift for a friend, or a cute coffee book.

"The Book of Purrs" is a cute collection of comics about cats. There are silly panels about how cats look super sweet and then bite you, and encouraging panels that rhyme and are "feel good" thoughts, like "you are perfect the way you are". It is very short, only 98 pages, and you can easily read in a few minutes. The illustrations are super adorable and the cats are drawn very fluffy with huge eyes in a very unique style. The book is a great mood booster, as each panel aims to either make you laugh or bring a positive spin to your day.

My only negative thought about this is that many of the comics were repetitive; I think there were around 4 that centered around cats biting, and many that were pretty much the same "positive rhyme" and for such a short book I think the repetition in unnecessary. I wish there were more of a variety of silly panels.

I would recommend this book for cat lovers, people who love cute illustrations of cats, and people who want an uplifting book to just sit down with for a few minutes here and there. 4/5 stars

I always love these kitty memes so of course I was excited about this book. And it did not disappoint!

It’s filled with absolute cuteness. You have all the kitties with their big eyes (which remind me of my kitty Jazzy!) and every kitty has either a sweet or a funny saying.

I think this book would be a wonderful present for everyone who loves cats, regardless of their age. I could just as easily get this for my niece as for my mom.

I got to read an early ebook edition on NetGalley. Thank you!

Adorable art, and by turns humorous & inspirational. The art does get a bit repetitive, sometimes repeating frames, or even full pages changing only the captions, and some of the "motivational" bits are a bit trite.

Best read, as the forward recommends, taking in a single comic strip at a time, not in a single sit.

This book is a precious mix of silly cats biting or being too nosy as well as affirmations for tough days. Some of the sentiments do get repetitive, but the point of the book isn't necessarily to be read linearly, but rather to open it up when you need a pick me up. The cats' dialogue is also a bit stilted at times, but cats don't speak English anyway.
