I’ve always seen Coelho’s posts on Instagram and loved them. This book is the perfect collection of those adorable cats that give you a smile when you feel down with motivational messages or silly depictions of what cats do.

LOVED THIS SOOOO MUCH 😻
most of the quotes were really awesome and motivational and some of them were funny and suitable for a cat 😸
i think this book would make a great gift 🫰🏼

"In The Here,
In The Now,
No Worries,
Only Meow."

If you look at the cover, this might appear to be a book for children, which it is not. But Luis Coelho has created an illustrated book about cats, sharing their thoughts on being a cat.

The illustrations in this are simple but share the thoughts of the moment in each frame - a thought shared by a cat, of course. As this illustrated story continues, some of the thoughts are funny, some profound, and some feel as though they share the thoughts as we do - the anxiety we humans are prone to have, at times. Short little rhyming phrases, a poem that portrays their inner thoughts.

’Every bite is a love bite when you love bites’

The illustrations, which are shared similar to a comic strip style, are charming, as is this book. Simple wisdom is dispensed in brief sentences, and the illustrations add a lot of charm to this book.

Favourite phrase:
’When everything
seems to be crappy
a little kitty
can make you happy’

May the purr be with you

Such a cute collection of comics about cats! It’s full of positive thoughts and humor about cats’ biting habits. There was not a lot of variety in the subjects tackled by those silly comic panels, which is why it felt a bit repetitive when you read the whole book in one sitting, but my favorites were undoubtedly the ones about love bites, because I felt those were the ones that every cat parent will be able to relate to. It was cute and fun, and I defy anyone not to find those big-eyed cats adorable.

Although I did not find this book very entertaining - I am much a fan of cats, but am always looking for funny cat books for my friends who run a cattery - I think it might be something my students at school enjoy. I thought it would be more humorous, but it lended itself to more inspirational. I liked the pictures, the cats were cute.

Thank you Netgalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing. I think my students will find this book enteraining and it's always nice to have a easy read sometimes.

I've loved this artist since I saw his cat drawings on Instagram forever ago. I adore this book. He knows exactly what uplifting phrases you need and it is obvious that he is a cat lover. I also appreciate the fact that his drawings feature black cats.

As a cat mom I felt this graphic novel on an emotional level. This was absolutely adorable and humbling as my cats seem to live by some of the messages these cats are saying. I did think it was a bit repetitive at times, but it didn't really effect the reading experience. Otherwise this is an excellent read for anyone who loves cats!

These comics are so cute, and I love that this is a fun collection of them! There were a few that I hadn’t seen yet, and they made me laugh and also maybe cry a little bit. <3 I look forward to seeing more of these out in the wild, and also grabbing the book so I can look through these pages whenever I need some laughs or encouragement!

First of all, I don't have a single negative thing to say about this book. As a dedicated cat mom, this was absolutely adorable and I enjoyed every single freaking page. Luis Coelho's illustrations are like catnip for the soul—completely irresistible and utterly delightful. Each page is a heartwarming reminder to find joy in the little things, whether it's chasing dreams (or tails) or refilling that oh-so-important food bowl. This book is the purr-fect gift for any cat lover in your life.

Now, I must share that this review has been thoroughly vetted by my resident feline experts, Tortellini and Azlan. Tortellini, my tortoiseshell diva, had this to say: "This book is meow-nificent! I give it four paws up and a tail flick for good measure. It perfectly captures the essence of my daily routines—striking glamorous poses, demanding treats, and ignoring inferior humans."

Azlan, my orange furball who shares the one brain cell with all the other orange cats in the world, gave a typically succinct response: "I tried to sit on this book, but being an advanced reader copy on a phone, it cunningly evaded my attempts. However, the vibrant illustrations and thoughtful words did catch my attention between naps. For a digital delight, it was surprisingly purr-sonal."

In conclusion, if you're looking for a dose of paws-itivity and feline wisdom, "The Book of Purrs" is the cat's pajamas. Whether you're a lifelong cat lover or just in need of a good chuckle, this charming collection will leave you purring with joy.

Who is on Instagram might habe already come across Luis Coelhos cute and afformative or just funny or relateable cat comics.
Their style is unique and recognizable, the black fluffy cats with big eyes set in soft colours with witty words stand out.

This book is a collection of the best of the comics. Some of them are cute and for laughs, some of them make the reader feel seen in their everyday despair.
And some of the comics would make great motivational posters you‘d wish to put on the wall.

A very nice book for cat lovers and comic enthusiasts alike.

As a big fan of this comic series and the owner of three cats, this was a delight!

Packed full of motivational, kind and kitty humour, the Book of Purrs is a chaotic match for the cats we know in our life. Those creatures are the light of our lives and help us through a lot and sometimes the reason we develop eye twitches.

Princess Fuzzypants here: Normally I do not read books well in advance of their publication date but I got hooked. And I do mean hooked. I kept saying just one more page and could not stop. I read about half the book one day and came back to finish it. I had no resistance. It is that good.

There is so much wisdom in this book, much of which speaks to how we see ourselves and our place in the world. Some of it is just so funny. And it is all true. When the kitties are sharing feline wisdom about themselves I think everyone who has ever been owned by a cat can relate. The artwork is just adorable. When this book is published I want a copy for myself and I want to interview the author for my FaceBook page.

If I could, I would give it more than five purrs and two paws up. I loved every single page.

This is a cute superfast read. The sort of book you have on your coffee table or office desk. As a cat lover, I could definitely relate to much of it! I was provided with a free copy by the publisher and this review is my honest opinion.

These illustrations are precious! I love how expressive the kitty eyes are.

Also the messages swing between deeply thoughtful and hilarious.

This would make a great encouragement/cheer up gift or stocking/basket filler for anyone who loves cats.

The artwork is absolutely adorable and I love the witty, inspirational lines to go along with them. It's a book you can go back to on any page and enjoy. I can see it being given as a gift or on a coffee table for anyone to look at. Definitely a must have for cat lovers!

Thank you for the ARC!

For cat lovers ... although it's about more than cats! The Book of Purrs is cute, calming and inspirational. It made me smile and chuckle and cheered me up. It incorporates the quirkiness of cats with caring, advice and encouragement. The drawings showed some funny cat poses and expressions. I enjoyed reading it all at once, but it would also work well as a page a day read. Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the digital ARC.

This book was adorable, I loved the artwork, which I knew going in I would as I follow this artist, but the words and collection overall was fun, wholesome etc. One page would make me laugh, the next smile and it's just such a fun diverse collection of affirmations and cats done in a delightfully uplifting way. I can't wait for it to release, and I hope I can get a physical copy I absolutely adored this, I might actually reach out for a physical copy from the publisher so I can make a few tiktok videos on it. I expected to like it but I adored this collection. It would also make a very good deck of affirmation cards.

If you ever needed a little book of wisdom from cats, here is the book for you. Here are 96 pages of cats' thoughts, and the author seems to have channeled them well. Based on his instagram account of the same sorts of comics, this collects thoughts just like they came from your favorite cat.

One example: “You deserve someone who look at you like you are the best thing that exists and then bites you.” So typically cat like.

Other times, it is more like a reflection. “In the here. In the now. No worries. Only Meow.”

And other times, it is just something you wish your cat would say: “Sometimes the world is cold, so I made this soup for you.”

And one I totally agree with “Existing is complicated. But napping solves most of it.”

The drawings are whimsical, and it is written like some affirmation books. YOu are only supposed to check on it day by day, not sit and read it all in one gulp.

Definitely a coffee table or gift book. Light, and fluffy, much like a cat.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review. This bok will be published on the 22nd of October 2024.
