"Not really thinking...... Just being"
This book is a compilation of Luis Coelho’s illustrations featuring cats and positive affirmations.
It felt like reading little cat meme you could found online, it was cute but I think it is something that you should read here and there and not read the entirety in one go (like I did).
Cute but forgettable
I asked for a review copy of The Book of Purrs from netgalley because I am a crazy cat mom who is way too obsessed with my cats and thought it looked cute. I didn’t know the cat was an Internet personality or anything about the illustrator prior to seeing the image on the cover. I really wanted to like this book more than I did but I ended up only liking a few of the comic strips or image pages a lot and found that they ended up being very repetitive in terms of messages and could have easily been a lot more creative in terms of things that cats do and like. It fixated a lot on them being affectionate and then biting their humans and food. I find the motivational or pick me up messages were just fluff and not really meaningful or deep. Not a book I would purchase for myself in either an ebook or physical copy format, nor is it something I would recommend to others as something to purchase.
I am a new cat dad. This book touched my heart. The humor and inspiration both came from honest places. I saw my kitten on every page. I will be rereading this several times, I am sure. Wonderfully written and drawn. I love it!
This was such a fun read and perfect for cat lovers. The positive affirmations on the comics were so good and the illustrations were amazing and adorable
Thanks to Andrews McMeel Publishingand Netgalley for the complimentary copy of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.
I've had about fifteen cats over the years and known many more, and they've all been fantastic unique individuals. This book gives a hint of what it's like to be a cat, a cat owner, or a cat lover. Various situations we recognize are illustrated with a right-of-way feeling that stays long after the book is closed.
This was the absolute best! Loved this so much. The art style is really amazing, the artist is very talented. I loved how all the cats looked and all the beautiful colours were great. The writing was very nice and very inspiring. Very uplifting!
I've been a fan of purr.in.ink for a while now, Luis' drawings always make me smile and this book was no different. The Book of Purrs is a wonderful collection of adorable cat art and inspiring quotes, and will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside, much like a real life cat will.
Many thanks to Luis Coelho, Andrews McMeel Publishing, and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC.
These adorable googly-eyed cats will make you laugh and lift your spirits. Filled with affirmations about overcoming anxiety, rebounding after failures, or simply engaging in self-care, this book can be your daily dose of feline fulfillment. Or if you are just looking for some silly cat jokes and insightful furry observations, you’ll find those, too. Enjoy!
This is such a cute little comic. I loved it so much, it was so funny and wonderfully illustrated. Great for all ages.
Did I expect a book full of cartoon cats to make me feel feelings? I absolutely did not! I adored this book and getting encouragement/affirmations from cats is something I didn’t know I was missing in my life. I don’t know if I’ll be able to afford it, but I want to buy this book for so many friends!
This was really cute and cheered me up a lot. The illustrations are simple but I like that, to be honest. It’s just a quick hit of cuteness that hits you when you look at them. This would make a fun present for a cat lover.
Thank you Net Galley for the free ebook. I am voluntarily leaving this review. “The Book of Purrs” is filled with artwork of adorable cats. I really enjoyed the more colorful pages over the black and white ones. There were some good reminders in the book, such as, to be kind to oneself. Some of the scenes weren’t really my kind of humor. There was a bit about biting and poop, since cats do both. I thought it would have more positive affirmations in it than there were. That being said, overall it’s a cute book for cat lovers.
The Book of Purrs is an adorable book full of beautiful cat illustrations. I loved the combination of funny cat quirks and encouraging words of affirmation. I'm not one for motivational quotes, so I would have liked to see more of the cat humour personally, but I think how the book was sorted made it work well.
This book would be brilliant for any cat loving adult in need of a pick me up.
Sometimes you just need a bunch of encouraging comics with a side of adorable cat drawings. Definitely a fun read.
Cute for any adult cat lover. I like that there is a combination of funny and encouraging pages. Illustrations are simple but fun.
A cute book for anyone that loves cats!
I don't know how far this book will go for someone that actually wants to read it. It's cute, but very child level.
This is a delightful little book full of words of wisdom and encouragement through the help of feline fluffers. Some illustrations are quite funny, some are simply the words of affirmation you need to hear in the morning.
The illustrations are humorous in itself, a touch peculiar, but always adorable.
I only wish it was maybe a bit longer.
As a long-time follower of Coelho's cat comic series, I jumped at the opportunity to download an advanced copy of THE BOOK OF PURRS. These comics never fail to add some humor or sage cat advice into my life. This book is a nice compendium of some of Coelho's cat comics. It's not necessary to read the book in order and one can instead live on the edge and open the book at random.
The illustrations are adorable and neat, with the focus on each cat's eye expressiveness. There are a number of different cats throughout the comic. Each offers a variety of quick, but not necessarily forgettable quips. Their musings cover a variety of topics from contentment in the moment to cat behavior humor to expressing how much they love their humans. Some panes also acknowledge anxiety and mental health and offer advice and affirmations.
Overall this is a cute, quick read and perfect for any cat lover. It adds some levity and a dose of adorableness to everyday life.
This is adorable!!!
I had seen some of these panels online already, but a collected book made it more enjoyable to read!
I love cats and black cats. And these are amongst the cutest of them all!
Thank you NetGalley for the eARC!
This book is TOO cute! I love everything cats and positive vibes and that's exactly what this book provided. I love even more that I was able to go to the Read Now section and find this absolute gem!
The illustrations are cute and evoke happy thoughts and emotions and the quotes that go along with the illustrations are thoughtful and simple.
Overall, I absolutely enjoyed this way more than I thought I would!!
I will absolutely be recommending this book to my friends who need a little pick me up.
