A series of comics about how cats love you and want to be happy.
The art is adorable. The messaging is full of feels.
Honestly one of cutest books I’ve ever flipped through. Would make a great coffee table book for that cat obsessed person in your life!
I'm not sure what I was expecting when I decided to read this book especially since I'm not a fan of cats, but I was pleasantly surprised. This was a cute book and at times it was funny. The illustrations were amazing. I'd definitely recommend this to cat lovers and those who are looking for encouraging words and affirmations.
this was absolutely adorable, and I'll definitely be getting a physical copy. I love the art style and the void kitties are so precious.
This is a very cute and delightful book. I think this would fit perfectly on a cat lovers coffee table!
Huge thanks to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the e-arc
This is a short compilation of mini comics and illustrations that range from comedy to inspirational quotes, I was feeling a little down at the moment and they cheered me up, so that's good!
The artwork is really pretty and I really love cats, I think anyone who likes cats is going to enjoy this book. Is really short but really cute
There's a big chance you already crossed the path of those little fluffy cats with their big eyes on the Internet. In "The Book of Purrs", Luís Coelho brings together his drawings of adorably cute cats and associates them with equally cute little phrases. Motivating, reassuring phrases about ourselves, our worth and our anxieties. Each page is a little pep talk in a single sentence that assures us how beautiful and resilient we are.
You can read this book in one go (as I did), or in several chunks, opening it whenever you feel the need to be reassured and feel better. A few feel-good sentences and cute little cats, like a shot of intravenous serotonin.
If you like cats and little motivational phrases, with a touch of humor, then this little book is for you!
CUTE! I really love this. It's such a fun book to pick up. It brought a smile to my face to see the lovely drawings and the positive messages!
Thank you NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the ARC!
As a resident cat lady I adored this book! The illustrations are super cute and it would delight any cat lover. I appreciated the positive affirmations and the silly cat humor. This would make for a lovely gift for the person in your life who has cats or loves cats!
Very sweet, and timely, re-readable, slightly one-note on cat personality | I completed a multiple day training on suicide prevention right before reading this, and let me just say that the book was the perfect mood-lifter. I could see someone just picking it up for a pick-me-up flip through now and then, and I think it would be effective (maybe especially for teens). Somebody is going to buy it for a young child and be upset about the use of the word "shit" twice, I have no problem with it but am mentioning it to try to stave that off. I really thought the whole book was gentle and kind. The only criticism I really have is that all the cats are love-love-bite, and that doesn't describe any cat I've had in my life. I know it's a common joke about cats, and some cats are like that, it's just not my experience, so it grew slightly dull that it was the payoff of most of the panels.
ARC provided free of charge, which did not impact my review
I mean this is an a complete 5 star read for me!
Thank you to Netgalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I've been following this creator on instagram for a while now and was elated when I saw they are publishing a book full of their adorable works! From cute comics about mischievous cats, to being an object that 100% biteable, to emotional and supportive life tidbits that come in cat form - this is a funny and heartwarming graphic novel/comic!
This would make an excellent present for any cat lover or just anyone who enjoys the antics of cats + could use some pulling on their heart strings every once in a while.
Highly recommend!
I love puns. I love cats. I love cat puns. This cute little coffee table book really scratched that itch! This would make a great cat lover gift.
Thank you for the ARC, NetGally
A good coffee table reader for a any cat lover. Seems like it would be fun to pick up and just flip to a random page as opposed to reading like you would another book.
OMG OMG OMG
okay I had no clue what I signed up for going in and was this what I expected?? no
am I disappointed in the slightest? also no absolutely not
it’s basically cat memes but this is both hilarious and heartfelt & it’s put together in a way where I’m basically getting whiplash from wanting to laugh to wanting to cry
absjdjdj AND THE ART IS SO GOOD THEY SO FLUFFY I WANNA PET
I adored this and devoured the illustrations with the whimsy of a child. It was everything I wanted it to be and more. I love cats with a passion so when I saw this book available at Netgalley for ARC grabs I knew I had to try and get it.
This book is a well balanced platter of emotions. One second it will have you laughing over a joke on purrs, another second you will be shaking your head at a panel that replicates typical cat behaviour (aka involving lots and lots of biting). But then sprinkled throughout the book are pages with profound wisdom and simple comforting truths that will tear you up from inside and touch that tiny space in your heart that craves the love and warmth on a hard day. Sometimes it's just a reminder that life is hard and it's okay to not be okay, other times it's a pat on the back affirming that you are enough as you are and you don't need to prove that to anyone.
I loved the variety this book had, it sprang from one topic to another like a boomerang and engaging all my emotions like I imagine a real cat would. Luís Coelho has managed to create a bundle of joy and warm hugs that anyone will feel proud to own a copy of. It reminds me of one of my favourite books, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy, where no matter which page you open you are greeted with something simple and yet profound enough to touch your heart.
I thank Netgalley and the Publisher for providing me with a copy of the book.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an arc of this book!
I found The book of purrs incredibly cute and emotional.. It's a perfect book for cat lovers, specially if you can relate with the anxiety mantras and hopeful futures. I just wish we had seen more of them and maybe different topics around the kitties. But that's just Coelho's style as well.
“I am the kitty
I am so sweet
Come close to me
I bite your feet”
I enjoyed this book of feline ‘thoughts’, especially the parts where it involves ‘biting’ because that’s exactly how my own cat is. Most of the comic strips are adorable and funnily cat-like, but there are some pages where I feel that they’re just human-thoughts forced into a cat form. Nonetheless, this was a fun read still!
Many thanks to Netgalley for the review copy 🐱✨
I know there's an audience out there that would absolutely adore this for its cute illlustrations and this cutesy kind of humor, but that audience is not me. I feel like this is something that would make a cute gift for your mother.
I really enjoyed this book, I love Paul Coelho’s style of art. The cats in this book were really cute and I think this book would make a good gift for a cat lover. I also liked the positivity throughout this book and feel it would be good to look back on to feel better if having a bad day. It is a short book and doesn’t take long to read but it suits the style of book well and there’s enough pictures and designs that it’s ok that it’s shorter.
Ich fand das Buch toll, ich liebe Katzen. Es sind wirklich schöne Illustrationen und kurze nette Worte. Wirklich süß und kurzweilig. Ein Buch zum immer wieder anschauen und lesen.
