I have never identified with someone more strongly than I do Mouse.
(Full disclosure: I received a free e-ARC for review through Netgalley.)
This was absolutely delightful!! I was not familiar with the Hulu show but I requested this because I enjoy comics. If I could have a print out of a good 75% of the comics as cards or postcards, I’d send them to my friends. The comics are funny, thoughtful, and incredibly relatable!! Thank you so much for the chance to read and review.
All opinions are my own.
I got this as an arc on Netgalley, and it will come out in September. This was so weird in a hilarious, yes, this is a whole mood way. I like weird humour.
Summary:
Life is full of little oddities. The creatures/characters within Poorly Drawn Comics know that better than most people. Characters such as Turtle, Snail, Bird, Mouse, and more grace the pages of this collection, doing their best to get through the day. Usually, with a healthy amount of sarcasm on the side.
Review:
I've been reading Poorly Drawn Lines here and there for what feels like ages (I know, I need to be better at staying up with the comics), so I was excited to get my hands on Hope It All Works Out!
This collection is everything I had hoped it would be, witty, charismatic, silly, and heavily sarcastic. It's a nice break from reality, while still being oddly grounded (the adventures are never so entirely out there).
If you're a fan of wit, dry humor, or sarcasm, check out Hope It All Works Out! More importantly, if you're already reading Poorly Drawn Comics, these are totally new, so take advantage of them!
Highlights:
Slice-of-life
Comedy/Sarcasm
Webcomic
Thanks to Andrews McMeel Publishing and #NetGalley for making this book available for review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I got an ARC of this book.
This was a wonderful collection. I follow it on a few social media sites, but even then there were a bunch that I had not seen. It allowed me to get a lot more in one go and I apprecaited it. Unlike some other collections, this one was not too short or too long. There was not a theme, but it just felt like being able to engage with the comic. I adore this comic and this really just highlighted why.
When the world is trash and it feels like everything is happening all of the dang time - which it is and it does - sometimes you need to pause for a laugh or two
Enter this book (which even has an ‘everything keeps happening’ set of panels!)
Some of these laughs are so relatable it hurts, and others are just a nice distraction. Either way, give yourself a minute to unplug and enjoy yourself.
All that *gestures at everything* will still be there, but at least you took a breath. And those relatable comics will make you feel less alone about the stresses and horrors!
Thanks to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the arc
These cartoons never fail to give me a good laugh. They're witty, relevant and funny-without-fail. The perfect thing to read when you need a bit of a bit of a boost! I think Mouse and I might actually be the same individual to be honest, what an icon.
A 5 star read, I will forever love these little critters and their (often misplaced) optimism and sarcasm.
I love Poorly Drawn Lines on Instagram —the sardonic, sometimes absurdist humour! Ernesto the bear being unflappable! How masterfully subtle changes to the characters' eyes anthropomorphize their distinct emotions!
I loved this compilation and the new adds, lik Seahorse; the next best thing to having prints of the comics is to have many of them at hand in this book.
If you love Poorly Drawn Comics, you’ll love this book. I’ve been a fan for a while, so it was nice to find this compilation of several comics. I recognized some from Instagram, but there were enough new ones that it still felt fresh and fun.
*Thank you to NetGalley for the advance digital copy of this book.*
It will come as no surprise to anyone who knows me that this comic collection is a 5 star read for me. I think Reza is my sense of humor soul mate honestly, every comic cracks me up without fail.
I'm a huge Poorly Drawn Lines fan so chances were already pretty high that I was going to enjoy this!
Nothing else has my nodding in agreement and laughing out loud quite like these comics - it's amazing how much can be portrayed in 2 or 4 panels.
Thank you to Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for the advance reader's digital copy. #HopeItAllWorksOut #NetGalley
I love reading Poorly Drawn Lines comics on Instagram and was thrilled at the opportunity to read this book. Mouse, Bird, Turtle, and Snail are such fun characters, charming and silly, and also - perhaps surprisingly - quite relatable. I enjoyed seeing both old favorites and new comics in this book. A quick read, and a well-needed reminder to not take oneself too seriously and to enjoy life. Would make a great gift as well!
I haven't heard of this artist before, and finding this book was truly an amazing experience. The silly jokes reminded me of my boyfriend, and with some of the characters' certain behaviour I could relate to WAAAAAAY too much, so it was a fun time and well spent. I even had to stop myself from reading it in one sitting, because I would have loved to spend even more time with it.
It also does get a bit more serious or sarcastic at moments, so if that's also up your alley what's stopping you from this book?
I would definitely recommend it!
Hope It All Works Out! is a fun and quirky collection of comics. Perfect for light humor reading. Recommended for adult comic/graphic novel collections.
I have been following this account on Instagram for a while and was very excited to see this book. I greatly enjoy the characters and the life situations that they make so humourous. I feel a real sense of connection with the mouse especially. This was a pretty quick read and I enjoyed every page.
I received an advanced copy from Netgalley. All opinions are my own.
A lighthearted and sarcastic collection of comics with dry humor. It's a quick read, and I enjoyed reading about these little critters! The illustrations are cute, and the comics are funny and short enough to quickly share with others. However, the comics can feel repetitive, and it's something that I'd prefer to read in sessions rather in one big binge.
The sarcasm, the humour and all that I feel. I have followed this web comic for a long time and I am stoked to see this book. I devoured it!
I've been following this webcomic for a while. I was excited to see this collection in a book. These comics are absolutely adorable. The animals are wonderfully irreverent.
Fun book with comics that are funny, relatable, dry humoured and sarcastic.
Fast and light read.
The adventures of Mouse, Bird, Snail and Turtle are very amusing.
The illustrations are simple and that's what makes them work so well.
We're all just some little guy with problems. This book of short and sweet comics was a delight to read, and I blew through it in less than a day. Having seen this author's work shared online numerous times, I'm very happy to have gotten this healthy dose of life-zest early thanks to receiving an ARC copy from NetGalley. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a bit of humor and relatability.
