I am a fan of Natasha Mostert's writing AND her imagination. The Midnight Side was her debut and it had all the elements that I've gotten to expect from a Mostert's novels. A supernatural tale of secrets and obsession revolving around a message from beyond the grave.
Isabelle's journey from South Africa to London starts with a phone call from her cousin Alette. Turns out Alette died 2 days before and left her an inheritance but with very specific strings attached. This story is a combination of a thriller with a touch of horror. I recommend this one to those who love thrilling tales of supernatural.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Portable Magic Ltd for gifting me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
A woman who is dead still able to haunt and get her way? Very interesting. You spend the whole book trying to figure out what's going on. It shows what level of obsession some people have.
Atmospheric and mysterious.
Many thanks to Portable Magic and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
This was so fun and thrilling to read - I loved the atmosphere that London provided and the mystery that was brought to life.
A supernatural story full of twists and turns and with a surprising conclusion. Another great read from Natasha Mosteret

The heroine was a moron, the ghost calling her "sounded fishy", the narrative style left me cold, and I simply couldn't bring myself to care about the living or the dead characters and what happened to them (or didn't).
I AM SO EMBARRASSED ... JUST NOW FINDING THIS ONE ON MY KINDLE/AMAZON. WAS NEVER READ SO NO REVIEW COMING AT THIS LATE DATE. MY SINCERE APOLOGIES.
Once again, there are parts that you just want to skip over especially if you have read her other books.
An interesting, chilly supernatural tale, that is very suspenseful. This was my introduction to the Author, and I am now a fan. I love thrillers that are psychological, and this one absolutely delivered on that. Who would not freak out if they got a phone call from a dead relative, no matter how open-minded you are for the supernatural?
