I’ve been looking forward to Henry’s story since Icebreaker. I pre-ordered it the moment it was available, and squealed when I saw the ARC approval in my inbox. I can confidently say that he and Hannah Grace did not disappoint.
Henry, as expected, is perfect and, having what I lovingly refer to as “raging ADHD”, I found that I related to him far more than I anticipated. It was incredibly validating to see these experiences on paper, especially the part about firm touches. Halle was adorable and, as a fellow eldest daughter with anxiety, I saw so much of myself in her as well. Not to mention that Henry and Halle complement each other so well and make such a cute couple.
I absolutely LOVED the fact that Daydream, being the third book, made Maple Hills really start to feel like a series. With connections to characters (obviously) and moments from Icebreaker and Wildfire, including bonus chapter content, this book feels very settled into the series. It was so fun to experience.
A huge thank-you to NetGalley and Atria Books for this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own..
loved this so much! The depiction of ADHD and how it can manifest was so good! Coupled with the people-pleasing oldest daughter. I loved Henry and Halle so much. Issues of consent and comfort, honest and clear communication, setting boundaries with family, making and bring a good friend. There was just so much good about this. No miscommunication tropes. No third act break up. Slow burn with less descriptive spicy scenes than her earlier books. But that just felt so right for these characters! My favourite by this author.
(My only regret is that ex, Will, didn’t get more of a comeuppance.)
