I was expecting a lot more from this book. Unfortunately, it was very slow to start, and by the time the actual crime happens, i kind of felt over it and was not really impressed with whodunnit.

An intriguing psychological thriller with an amazing web of strong characters woven into the plot. So cleverly written.
Once the pace picks up the book cannot be put down until the end.

There were so many wrong and feasible leads where you can believe you know the ending, but then you find something else to follow within the characters and realise there is another direction in which you are heading. You really are left at times wondering who to believe as all o come through as very plausible.

The tension builds throughout .

An excellent read

His Truth Her Truth by @author_noelleholten 🪢

We’re introduced to Beth and Joe, a couple living together in the idyllic setting of Gladstone Village. After Beth’s father dies, and receiving minimal help from Joe, she finds herself at the bottom of multiple bottles. Joe has his own problems too; his business is on the brink and he’s terribly worried about Beth’s downward spiral.

A mysterious tip-off to the police about a home invasion gone wrong finds Beth and Joe both stabbed in their home, clinging onto life but each holding a knife. What has truly gone on here and will we ever find out the truth?

Told from both Beth and Joe’s POV’s, we’re reminded that not everything is as it seems and there are most certainly two sides to every story. The alternating viewpoints build tension and confusion, making it difficult to flit through the pages where some very dark and disturbing topics lie. Neither Beth or Joe are extremely likeable, but both have their issues and flaws and make some VERY questionable decisions that sometimes didn’t really fit with the story. Beth’s POVs affected me more than Joe’s and it was sad to see her slowly losing herself as time went on, they do say grief does strange things to people.

His Truth Her Truth is split into two parts, before the incident and after, and I felt like the book ramped up in the second half. I found the first half to be quite repetitive, especially on the topic of Beth’s drinking, but the short and snappy chapters were holding my attention. Holten’s writing is attractive, comprising of countless twists and turns which makes for an enticing and thrilling read. Yes, the characters had their flaws, but faced with the many decisions and scenarios, we would probably have our flaws too.

All in all, an exciting domestic thriller with unreliable narrators that will have you questioning everything and everyone. A huge thanks to Noelle, Harper Collins and One More Chapter for the e-ARC. The Kindle version of His Truth Her Truth releases on 1st March 2025 and the paperback on 13th March 2025!

An enjoyable book but did seem to be a bit of a slow burner. I found part 2 that comes at around 60% ramped the story up a bit more. I really liked that the chapters are short and snappy. A good storyline but nothing out of the ordinary.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy!

This book is a fast-paced, twisty thriller that keeps you hooked from start to finish! I really enjoyed being kept on my toes while reading!
The dual perspectives of Joe and Beth make for an addictive read, with plenty of secrets and surprises along the way. Noelle Holten’s writing is sharp, and the suspense builds perfectly. I will define picking up more of her books after this.
If you love domestic thrillers with lots of tension and unexpected turns, this one’s definitely worth picking up!

I have read many books by Noelle Holton, so I was incredibly excited for this one and it certainly did not disappoint!

That time old saying of there being 'Two sides to every story' really comes into play in this book, as we explore the lives of a couple in what can only be described as a toxic relationship, and shows the effects it has on the two victims and their point of view surrounding it all.

The twists and turns this story takes as the plot progresses is remarkable and had me on the edge of my seat! an absolute must read!

I was really excited by the premise and was keen to see how it'd play out. I lived the alternate povs and you're never quite sure who's pov you can trust. For me the book dragged. A lot. It's a really slow burn and very character based. I would have preferred a bit more thing actually happening to keep the plot moving forward. The characters also seemed just overall, really unlikeable people so I struggled to ever care. It did have a good ending hut it felt like maybe some of the themes were half delivered on and you could have gotten away with cutting the book down quite significantly without it impavting the plot and it might have made it feel a less of a drag

I found the first half to be compelling than the second half, but overall, I liked the back and forth between the two people to try and figure out what happened to them. Some twists were good, some were not, and the ending didn't totally shock me.

I've been trying to get through this one for a week. Part of it was down to me being unwell, and I found myself unable to focus on it enough to read. Once I felt better, I started again and found I was still not connecting with this story. I found it incredibly slow, some of it didn't feel like it made sense, the ending felt rushed and there just didn't seem to be any kind of resolution or explanation as to what had happnened.

It's an emotional, psychological suspense with unpredictable protagonists that explores toxic relationships. It begins with a tragic event and then steps back in time to explore its root causes through the viewpoints of the two victims, Beth and Joe. The narrators are unreliable, and you are never sure whether the people they come into contact with behave as they perceive. It spends time building Beth and Joe's world, which ultimately implodes, but it's worth the wait. The twists are unpredictable and impactful, and the ending is satisfying.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

Beth’s consumed by the death of her father, Joe, her fiancé, is more concerned about his work. Both are as insufferable as each other and I didn’t grow to like either of them.

Grief affects people in different ways and I found Beth’s reaction quite relatable. Joe just didn’t know how to support her but it was exhausting reading how he felt obliged to act in certain ways because of how people were speaking to him as opposed to how he actually felt.

The alternating POV’s are great to add to the story but the book felt long unfortunately. I do think it could’ve been shorter.

It’s a classic case of “who can I trust?” And I was definitely confused at times.

The title of this book makes it clear that someone in this story is lying, but which one? Beth and Joe are engaged to be married when Beth's father dies and Joe's emotional and physical support seems to be lacking....alot. Both try to pretend everything is fine, but it's obvious to readers that they are headed for some sort of drama. When the emergency call goes out, both characters are injured, bloody and armed. The next chapters are devoted to their stories as each gives their side, but we know someone is lying. Noelle Holten has hidden the truth well enough that the police digging will prove both less than truthful, but what happened that fateful night?

Noelle Holten's His Truth, Her Truth is a gripping and emotionally charged thriller that delves deep into the complexities of truth, trauma, and the blurred lines between right and wrong. With compelling characters and a suspenseful, twist-filled plot, Holten crafts a tense narrative that keeps readers hooked until the very last page.

The story follows two characters, each with their own version of events, forcing readers to question the reliability of both perspectives. Holten skillfully navigates the intricacies of unreliable narrators, revealing layers of deception and hidden motives as the story unfolds. The alternating points of view between the two protagonists give the novel a sense of unpredictability, allowing the reader to piece together the truth from conflicting accounts.

One of the strengths of His Truth, Her Truth is Holten's ability to create characters that feel complex and multidimensional. The emotional depth of the characters, particularly in how they handle their trauma and conflicting emotions, makes their journeys compelling and relatable. The exploration of psychological tension adds another layer of intrigue, keeping readers invested in how the characters' stories will ultimately collide.

The pacing is well-maintained throughout, with a steady buildup of tension that culminates in a thrilling and satisfying conclusion. The plot twists, though at times predictable, are executed in a way that keeps you engaged, and Holten does an excellent job of tying up loose ends while still leaving some lingering questions that will stay with the reader.

However, some readers might find certain aspects of the plot a bit familiar, especially in the genre of psychological thrillers, and a few of the character motivations could have been explored more deeply. At times, the narrative can feel a bit repetitive in its back-and-forth between perspectives, but these are minor drawbacks in what is otherwise a captivating and well-executed thriller.

Overall, His Truth, Her Truth is a strong, emotionally resonant novel that will appeal to fans of psychological thrillers. Noelle Holten once again proves her ability to craft an engaging, suspenseful story that keeps readers guessing while exploring deeper themes of truth, justice, and the impact of trauma.

A psychological thriller with plenty of twists and turns. Who is telling the truth? Who is dead?

Two bodies are found in a home following an anonymous call, but what happened? Joe and Beth are living together and all seems well but things start to unravel when Beth's father is taken ill and unfortunately passes away. Her life starts to spiral and Joe doesn't know how to help her as he has his own worries and problems that are starting to escalate.

Then their bodies are found inside their home......but not both of them are dead. What happened and who attacked them?

This is a great psychological thriller where you have the story as seen from both Beth and Joe, but who can you trust and what is the truth? Plenty of twists and turns that will keep you guessing.

Beth Stanford and Joe Tasker are engaged. Police discover them covered in blood each with a knife in their hands. What happened here?

Joe runs Tasker House a charity that helps vulnerable people. Beth is a paralegal for a law firm.

Beth gets a call that her ill father is fading quickly and she must go to him. Her mother left them when she was young and it was her beloved father that raised her. She reaches the hospital to have a few final words with him before he passes. Beth is totally devastated and grieving deeply. She begs Joe to join her but he is very busy at work so it’s a few days before he can join her. By then, Beth is furious with him.

Beth has always had a lot of emotional issues and anxiety and is taking medication for them. However, to cover her grief, she has also started drinking heavily to which is bad as it does not mix well with her medication.

After the funeral, they return home. Beth tries to return to work but doesn’t have herself together well enough so is told to take some more time off and to seek grief counseling. Her's and Joe’s relationship is contentious as her drinking is making her mean. But it all blows up one night leaving both of them stabbed and clinging to life. Will they make it?

This book is very busy and twisty. Beth’s drinking is over the top and I just could not find any sympathy for her. Joe may have done some shifty things but I believe he loved Beth and I can’t say that I would have been as sympathetic to her as he was. The ending seemed a bit forced and the book is entirely too long.

There's a crime scene in Gladstone Village, the quintessential British village. Beth and Joe, an unlikely couple and rather unlikeable characters too, once you get to know them, are lying in the middle of this crime scene each clutching a knife. The story then goes back in time and in alternating chapters Joe and Beth tell their "truths". Both are keeping secrets from the other person, there relationship is hanging by a thread, and both are dealing with domestic abuse cases that are very similar to their own situation at home.

I enjoyed the concept of the story far more than the execution. The sub-plot of the domestic abuse cases, which had a lot of potential, felt like the author ran out of time/steam/ideas to fully incorporate it into the narrative. The ending was predictable and seemed rushed.
