This book was so much fun to read. It had some touchy subject matter, but I really enjoyed it. It involved domestic violence, a support group for survivors, and some pretty gruesome murders. I don't want to give the story away, so I won't tell you too much about it but let's just say it was one you found yourself rooting for the "bad guy".
The writing in this is very good. When you read it, it mostly flows well, and each chapter flows into the next one easily. The characters are well thought out and you find yourself really liking or hating them.
This book is quite gory at times so if you aren't good with that you may not enjoy this one. It does also heavily revolve around domestic abuse but most of that abuse isn't detailed incredibly graphically.
I liked this one a lot.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this (the title piqued my interest), but my goodness it was good! The author had me hooked from the first page to the last. I loved the characters, their development, the ending. A great psychological thriller with twists throughout. The author notes this is the beginning of a series and I look forward to the next!

The book begins with Jess, abused by her partner, who ends up in the hospital on NYE. The hospital staff intervene and give Jess the number to a support group for DV victims, where she meets a group of men and women sharing their own struggles and achievements. When things start happening to their abusers, the media gets wind, and Jess learns she can lean on the group for more than support.

A disclaimer that the subject may be too difficult for some readers as the author does go in detail about and describing DV. On another note, the author did an excellent job in writing the all too true struggles with the justice system for such crimes,

When Jessica joined the support group for women affected by domestic violence she found friends who understood her pain and helped to rebuild her self esteem and self worth but someone is out there taking care of the men who violated the members of the group. Who is this vigilante dividing the people with their opinions on if his murders were justified. This was such a page turner. I was so engaged with the story and the characters were good.
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Justice will be served… one way or another.

When Jess Pendle finally gathers the courage to leave her abusive boyfriend, she knows she needs help. Skeptical but desperate, she joins a local support group for survivors of domestic violence. She expects quiet sympathy, maybe some shared stories. What she doesn’t expect is a sisterhood stronger than she ever imagined—women (and men) who truly understand, who lift each other up, and who know exactly what it takes to survive.

But something is happening to their abusers.

One by one, the men who tormented them are turning up dead—killed with precision, executed with chilling efficiency. Whispers ripple through the group about The Caretaker, a nameless, faceless vigilante who seems to be watching over them. Is it one of them? Someone on the outside? Or could their support group be more than just a place to heal?

As Jess gets pulled deeper into the fold, she starts to question everything. The blinds close. The meetings change. Justice blurs into something far darker. And soon, she’ll have to decide: How far is she willing to go to protect herself? And is revenge the same as survival?

Thanks to Netgalley and Harper Collins for the ARC of this book.
Absolutely loved this book. Subject of coercive control and spousal abuse obviously a very important one so very on point. The characters were all extremely well formed and believable. I was also impressed by the inclusion of the detective trying to do her job with an autistic daughter. Will certainly look out for more books bynthis author,.

A true thriller lover, I wanted to be infatuated with this book. Unfortunately, it just felt average to me.

Jess is dating Lewis, who abuses her. She joins a local support group with other ladies (and men!) in her situation. Suddenly, the ones who were abusing these partners start dying at the hands of “The Caretaker”. Who is it? Who is killing all these people?

I almost DNF’d it about halfway through. It felt like a long time to get to the good part and then did pick up and kept me going because I enjoyed the middle. The end was also lackluster and predictable. Unfortunately, not a winner for me.

The cover and title are amazing though!

What a book! Absolutely loved this and I'm so excited that it's going to be a series....yippee! Jess and her friends are fabulous, strong feisty women and the whole book was addictive from start to finish. I so rarely rate thrillers 5 star but this one deserves it.....brilliant.

Firstly a big thank you for the opportunity to read and review early .
I’ve read several of this authors books under a different name and they have all blown me away .
This was no exception !
Firstly i was a survivor myself so it was interesting to say the least !
Empowering in a way so well done for such excellent emotive writing that evokes feelings whilst still being a psychological thriller with unexpected twists and turns .
I can’t wait to hear other people’s thoughts on this as it’s such a clever concept .
Really enjoyed this and kept me turning the pages not knowing what to expect !

This was a really good read, but definitely check your trigger warnings before reading. It was much serious than I expected it to be based on the title. I felt it was very well written but I felt it ended so abruptly, hopefully that’s as there will be a second one? I also didn’t feel the blurb explained the premise accurately, it was much deeper and not as much about the therapist leaving. I don’t want to give spoilers so would say either way it’s definitely worth a read !

When Jess is beaten up by her boyfriend she goes along to a support group for victims of domestic abuse and not only makes new friends there but finds more support than she could have possibly imagined.

What I liked about this book. I thought this was an original idea which was well executed on the whole. It is an emotional read which goes between the viewpoints of Jess and The Caretaker, someone who is targeting the women's former partners.

What i wasn't sure about. I would have liked to have seen more character development. This is clearly going to be a series and i'm interested to see where it goes.. If it continues in the same vein I'm not sure how the characters will develop if at all. If however conflict arises among the group, raising moral and ethical issues, it could become much more interesting.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.

Jess is a victim of domestic violence. Her partner Lewis is a bad man. When she needs to go to hospital to be treated, a doctor gets Jess to admit she needs help, and gives her a leaflet for a support group. Attending the group, Jess makes some new friends. She also befriends a detective-Sophie. When the ex’s of the support group begin to be murdered by the Caretaker, Jess and Sophie are too close for comfort.

This one had me gripped on reading the title. And what a read it was. I couldn’t and wouldn’t put it down. Fast paced, gory, and dare I say empowering! I thought the caretaker was going to be someone obvious and I could feel my disappointment starting. I was wrong, and so started the second and explosive part of the book. This is must read!

Just loved this and was sad when i finished it!
It made such a change to read something so different.
I was engrossed from the start and totally believed in the well written characters.
A little far fetched at times but its fiction.
Some questions left hanging at the end so i cannot wait to read the sequel.
Best thing i have read for a while.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.

Thriller readers are in for a treat with DB Stephen’s’ new book, The Serial Killers Support Group. It was a great read!

I've read many psychological crime thrillers recently but this is a refreshing take on the genre which I loved.
When Jess attends a support group for survivors of domestic abuse, she discovers they do more than discuss feelings. With a fresh support and friendships, she takes steps to regain her freedom at a time the media and police are on the hunt for a serial killer, The Caretaker.
Told in the POVs of Jess, The Caretaker and Sophie a detective, I was hooked. Each character felt real and instantly became invested in them all.
It's a thrilling novel of friendship, loyalty, rediscovery of self and murder. I didn't want it to end so excited to learn it is the first of a series.

3.5 stars

This book has outed me as a not very nice person, because there was more than one occasion I felt justice was served, rather than thinking how awful more crime was being committed .
It's a really good idea , and I enjoyed the different characters, and showing that domestic abuse doesn't fit one mould.
There were some things that seemed far fetched (I'm not even talking about the main plot) but overall, it was a good read.
I feel this story has further to run, and I'm here for it.

Loved this book and can't wait for the sequel! It begins with "The Caretaker" blinding a man leaving the bar by throwing acid in his face. Then we move to Jessica whose ex, Lewis continues to threaten her. Detective Sophie is on the case as too many men are dying at the hands of the mysterious Caretaker and she's determined to figure out even as she recognizes they "deserve" it as they've abused women. The novel is frightening and hopeful all at once as we see the underbelly of society and what good people will do in the face of adversity!
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!

The Serial Killer Support Group by Darren O’Sullivan is an interesting twist on domestic violence and how women who are the victims are able to walk away and seek help.
Jess unwittingly became a victim of domestic abuse and knew she needed help, she found a support group which met weekly and were all victims of domestic abuse. The police were not much help and it was only the weekly meetings that seemed to offer some positive help.
Then The Caretaker made an appearance and the abusers were being abused themselves and then they were being killed. The police were trying very hard to find the man responsible but didn’t help themselves by arresting the caretaker of the community centre where the meetings were being held.
He had to be released when another abuser was killed whilst the caretaker was in custody.
Only one police officer got close to finding out who was really The Caretaker but she doesn’t have the evidence to prove it.
This looks as if it will become a series, with Jess and Detective Sophie. Salam being part of the next storyline.
I would look forward to reading the next book, if it ever comes out.
Highly recommended

Justice will be served…. Therapy just got deadly! When Jess Pendle agrees to attend a support group to meet other women who have lived similar experiences, she doesn’t expect much.
The group has been set up for like-minded women to come together, but when their therapist leaves, they close the blinds and find a new, and altogether more deadly way to support each other…
Great read! Wow! Great group of women! I loved the characters! This book had suspense, intriguing, murder, mystery, a shocking who done it and some crazy twists and turns! The story was very interesting! I highly recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

This book is hard to review because they really don’t want to give anything away in the blurb! I mean, it’s right there in the title, but the basic gist is that Jess (the main character) seeks out a support group and finds more than she bargained for. She meets other women who have similarly struggled and don’t feel that they’re receiving justice so they take it into their own hands. The ethics of the characters are debatable, but the author makes good arguments for their stance, and anyone who’s been in a similar situation would understand.

It at first seems like a typical whodunit but the crimes that occur are becoming impossible for the police to solve. We see from the lead detective’s point of view, as well, and she’s quite a sympathetic character. Sophie struggles with finding time to devote to her family and her job while trying to keep secrets about her past from coming out. The line between her personal and work life blurs in a way she never expected.

It’s noted at the end of the book that this will be part of a series and I can’t wait for the next one because there are many unanswered questions about Sophie in particular that are intriguing. The characters are all likable, which is rare nowadays, and I want to know what happens next with them, especially because of that ending!
