As a mystery thriller fan, how could I resist that title? It’s certainly tantalising. Jess Pendle has been determined that she will not be a victim of domestic violence as her mother has been but here she is as Lewis looms over her and this time she’s really hurt. History is repeating itself. She courageously decides enough is enough and once the police statement is made, they give her an information leaflet for a support group. For some, the past will catch up with them.

I like the premise of the novel and it makes a lot of valid points from the perspective of members of the support group. It doesn’t hang back in certain areas, deservedly so and is thought provoking on aspects of morality. For example, what constitutes a hero? It’s scary, dark, fear inducing and there’s much understandable anger and frustration. I admire the strength of these women and their desire to take back the control they had lost. There are twists, there’s some tension but the wheels start to come off for me and it gets too far-fetched for my taste.

I’m not a huge fan of the way it’s written, it’s a bit one dimensional in places. There needs to be more substance, for example, some characters need further development. The ending is abrupt, one of those decide for yourself ones but I think it could be setting up for another book and I would like to see how one intriguing scenario plays out.

Overall, I applaud what the author is trying to do here in raising issues that need to be addressed, especially with regard to the law.

With thanks to NetGalley and especially to HarperCollins/One More Chapter for the much appreciated EPUB return for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book; it’s such a unique and interesting thriller. When I first started reading, I thought it was a little predictable, but I really didn’t see all the twists and turns coming. This is the first thriller I’ve read where I found myself rooting for the bad guy.

I also liked how it brought awareness to domestic violence; this book, dare I say, was empowering to all the women out there who struggle with domestic violence. The only thing I didn’t love was the ending; I thought it was a little abrupt and left some things unresolved. I’m hoping there will be another book. All in all, I really recommend this book.

The Serial Killer Support Group by D B Stephens puts a fresh twist on the preconceived notion of a serial killer, and it's a premise that is completely and refreshingly original in its execution.

Jess joins a support group for survivors of domestic abuse where she finds a group of women with whom she can identify at an almost primal level. As they share their personal experiences and support for one another, the women bond even further as their abusive partners begin to fall victim to a serial killer who is clearly on a mission of vengeance.

Many thanks to HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for an ARC.

What these women have been through is so heartbreaking. So frustrating that no one ever gives them the help they need. That no one ever gets justice. It's about time someone took justice into their own hands.

Really fantastic book that was well paced with some amazing characters and a great plot. I thought I had figured it out and I had NO CLUE what was going on. Loved it until I got to the end and it just ended without resolving some big parts of the story, so I took off a start from that. If it had had a better ending, it would have been a 5 star read for sure!

This is definitely my level of thriller, I wasn't concerned about trying to figure anything out before we were told it, so although probably obvious I didn't guess the twists and turns. I enjoyed the twist of assuming we knew who the killer was but actually being wrong - I did kick myself a little for just accepting this as it was a bit too obvious so I should have guessed.
I think if you like Frieda McFadden and that sort of level of thriller you'll like this one.
I also think this story had some very good points about domestic abuse - about victims not feeling believed, about not much being done to help etc - definitely made me think.

The Serial Killer Support Group drew me in with it's title and premise. I was really in the mood for a fast-paced thriller, so picking this up seemed like a great choice.

I really liked some of the characters in this book, Jess and Sophie's dynamic was very interesting and I wish we would have seen them interact more. The author did a very good job at representation of children with autism in this book, and portraying the struggles for these children and their parents.

Unfortunately I didn't really end up connecting to this book. The writing style wasn't really for me, and I felt a certain lack of tension. I guessed most of the plotpoints and twists pretty early on, which made for a less exciting experience. I was really struggling through the first half of this book, but the last hundred-ish pages did pick up a bit.

There were some stylistic choices in the writing that I didn't really like, such as some words being used repetitively. A couple of times I noticed certain adjectives being used in multiple sentences back to back. I feel like this book could have benefited from some more editing, as I noticed some typos as well, which I will include in the note for the publishers.

I really wanted to love this book, but unfortunately it just wasn't for me. I have seen a lot of other people speaking very positively about this though, so if you're interested in this, I'd definitely recommend just giving it a go.

Thank You to HarperCollinsUK, One more Chapter and Netgalley for providing me with the ARC for this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a ride!! A support group for women who are experiencing domestic violence in their relationships, but takes a turn when they feel there is no way out. Besides what is worse than a group of women ready to put their foot down?!
Great book! Loved the short chapters!

Many thanks to netgalley, the author, Harper Collins and One more chapter for approving my request to read this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this fast paced story in which we meet Jess who joins a support group for domestic violence survivor's after finally admitting to a doctor she needs help to flee her violent partner Lewis.

This book really sheds a light on a very sensitive subject and highlights how many lives it affects and is very well written making you feel the survivor's emotions throughout.

I'm looking forward to more books from this author and I'm really hoping for a follow up to this one. I will most definitely be recommending this book to others!

This is one of my favourite books.
After Jess finally fleas from her abusive ex Lewis, she attends a support group for women who have been through similar things. They have all been in contact with DS Jones, but nothing is being done reports not completed, files not actioned but why? Lewis is still harassing her, but is she still afraid of him.? I was totally engrossed in this, it reminded me a bit like 'I spit on your grave '.. when the men of the ladies who attend the support group start being murdered by someone only known as ...... THE CARETAKER. Fingers point towards the handyman of the community centre Geoff, but is it him?? Or is it someone else? Things are not all as they seem.
A sensitive topic and I thought it was well written.. loved it! Addictive! Highly recommend

This book was so much fun to read. It had some touchy subject matter, but I really enjoyed it. It involved domestic violence, a support group for survivors, and some pretty gruesome murders. I don't want to give the story away, so I won't tell you too much about it but let's just say it was one you found yourself rooting for the "bad guy".
The writing in this is very good. When you read it, it mostly flows well, and each chapter flows into the next one easily. The characters are well thought out and you find yourself really liking or hating them.
This book is quite gory at times so if you aren't good with that you may not enjoy this one. It does also heavily revolve around domestic abuse but most of that abuse isn't detailed incredibly graphically.
I liked this one a lot.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this (the title piqued my interest), but my goodness it was good! The author had me hooked from the first page to the last. I loved the characters, their development, the ending. A great psychological thriller with twists throughout. The author notes this is the beginning of a series and I look forward to the next!

The book begins with Jess, abused by her partner, who ends up in the hospital on NYE. The hospital staff intervene and give Jess the number to a support group for DV victims, where she meets a group of men and women sharing their own struggles and achievements. When things start happening to their abusers, the media gets wind, and Jess learns she can lean on the group for more than support.

A disclaimer that the subject may be too difficult for some readers as the author does go in detail about and describing DV. On another note, the author did an excellent job in writing the all too true struggles with the justice system for such crimes,

When Jessica joined the support group for women affected by domestic violence she found friends who understood her pain and helped to rebuild her self esteem and self worth but someone is out there taking care of the men who violated the members of the group. Who is this vigilante dividing the people with their opinions on if his murders were justified. This was such a page turner. I was so engaged with the story and the characters were good.

Justice will be served… one way or another.

When Jess Pendle finally gathers the courage to leave her abusive boyfriend, she knows she needs help. Skeptical but desperate, she joins a local support group for survivors of domestic violence. She expects quiet sympathy, maybe some shared stories. What she doesn’t expect is a sisterhood stronger than she ever imagined—women (and men) who truly understand, who lift each other up, and who know exactly what it takes to survive.

But something is happening to their abusers.

One by one, the men who tormented them are turning up dead—killed with precision, executed with chilling efficiency. Whispers ripple through the group about The Caretaker, a nameless, faceless vigilante who seems to be watching over them. Is it one of them? Someone on the outside? Or could their support group be more than just a place to heal?

As Jess gets pulled deeper into the fold, she starts to question everything. The blinds close. The meetings change. Justice blurs into something far darker. And soon, she’ll have to decide: How far is she willing to go to protect herself? And is revenge the same as survival?
