I thought this book was a cute fall time read! The setting definitely gave Gilmore Girl vibes. Wasn’t as enthralled by the plot as I had hoped, but it did keep a fast pace throughout.
Ok this was super funny. I liked how was set up a lot. Omg the magical mishaps were so good. Loved it. Now there is 2 chapters that drag on a bit and got on my nerves, but overall 98% is just perfection.
This book had a lot of potential, especially with its creative world-building and unique magical setting. I could see the effort that went into crafting such a whimsical and immersive world, and it was one of the highlights for me.
However, I struggled a bit with Scarlett as a protagonist. Her continuous self-sabotage made it difficult to fully root for her, as it felt like she was stuck in a repetitive cycle without significant growth. While I understand this was likely meant to showcase her internal struggles, it occasionally detracted from the pacing of the story.
There were some genuinely funny moments, and the humor will likely resonate with many readers, but parts of the plot leaned too heavily into being quirky, coming off as overly ridiculous rather than charming.
Overall, I think this book will appeal to readers who enjoy whimsical, character-driven stories, but it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. I appreciated the chance to read and review this, and I’m curious to see how Emily Grimoire’s writing evolves in future works.
There were ups and downs, I didn't dislike it but in the end I was a little disappointed that I finished it. The middle was the best part, the beginning was slow and the end was too fast. I did like the characters a lot though.
Love this book! Witchy, fall vibes that is great to read anytime of the year. I enjoyed the plot as well as the characters. In one word this book is charming!
This book was cute but ultimately not for me. I didn't enjoy the FMC to the point that I just didn't really care about how she was going to help fix things. The way she dismisses her sister who actually is experiencing magic issues in the beginning of the book really made here unsalvageable.
Such a cute and cozy read! I loved the vibes of the small witchy town. If you love a quick and cutesy book, this is it!
Really liked this one it was fun!!’
It scratched the same itch as pumpkin spice cafe and I really loved the small town vibes as well.
I wish I had read this in October!! This was SO CUTE! I definitely will be buying a copy to put on my shelf.
I wanted to love this. The cover pulled me in wanting magical cozy fall read. It just ended up not for me. I didn’t like the main character and there seemed to be a lot going on
This book was fun and cute but far too slow, predictable and flat for me. It would be a fun film but as a book it was just too slow and silly.
This wanted way too hard to be the Gilmore Girls, even to the author's name, and honestly I'm not really sure how it got through the publishing process. It was a mess throughout.
This has a really good premise, and it's trying to be a cosy romance but it's just... not? There's too much going on, way too much flip-flopping from the main character on pretty much every thought that crosses her mind, and the weird women only with magic thing didn't really work for me either. 2 stars.
Great romance book by a great author. Loved the story and plot line. The cover is beautiful and will definitely read from this author again
The book has a sweet premise but I couldn’t get past the Disney style magic mixed with mature scenes. I felt it needed to pick a side. Happy to read either, but together it felt meh.
The synopsis and setting was right up my street but unfortunately the writing itself was not good. It felt really juvenile to me and I just couldn’t get through it. Ended up as a DNF for me.
Thank you so much to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for an early copy in exchange for an honest review.
To be perfectly honest, I am catching up on reviews right now, and my ADHD brain has forgotten some of the specifics since finishing, but what I haven't forgotten are the perfectly cozy, witchy, Fall vibes that I needed. This book read like a hug, like you're watching Practical Magic with your friends while drinking hot cider. It just scratched that itch so well, and I can't wait to read more from this author.
Thank you Net Galley for the arc!

This book started out really well for me. I was liking it. Once i started to get more towards pg. 50, the main characters started to feel very annoying and it only got worse from there.
I loved where the vibes were going. It had big Gilmore Girls vibes. I was almost sure this would be atleast 4 stars, but it just fell a little flat.
This had so many great points but I feel like the ending dragged on with no real need too, the additional year felt unnecessary and a waste if time, I liked the characters on the whole but the way in which we waited a full year when she was just in a cage at the river felt pointless.
I gave this book a solid 4 ⭐️ stars. This book feels very much like Charmed meets Gilmore Girls meets Practical Magic. I loved all the messed up magic that immediately had me thinking of the Halliwell sisters would turn things upside down. The small town made me feel as though I was in Stars Hallow. The banter between Scarlett and her relatives had me laughing out loud at times. Scarlett and Nate were so cute, definitely enjoyed the "Williams Hardware" and flannel wearing mentions that brought the feeling of Gilmore Girls full circle. This book was cozy and great for the season. The only downside is that the ending fell a little flat and left me wanting more that never came. I did enjoy it but wanted just a little bit more.
Not my favorite. It was a cozy fall read, but the dialogue didn’t feel natural and the writing was a little rough. I felt like there were too many cheesy/cringey moments for me, and just was not a fan overall.
