A very comfy cozy witchy book for fall! I enjoyed this a lot. Scarlett is very interesting and I think a lot of the characters malign her more than she deserves. I will say, as much as I enjoy Gilmore Girls, the small town aspects of this book would have been more interesting and realistic if they didn't feel copy pasted from the show. I already watched it, I don't need version 2.0 witches. But if that's what you're looking for, here you go!

A cute fall read that had me laughing a lot. I enjoyed the snark, humor and some pop culture references. All in all it was a sweet story about coming home when you feel unwelcome and finding where your true home is. Family drama and romantic drama abounds. Will recommend for my fall book lovers. Thank you for the opportunity to read it!

Impractical Magic follows Scarlett who receives a call from her estranged sisters and knows something is wrong. She has not been home in years but knows she has to. Her mother's inn is cursed and she has to help. Scarlett is a witch and her town has magic. But there is something wrong with the magic. While Scarlett is home she runs into her old flame Nate. Not only does she help the town but she might have feelings for Nate again.

This was a very cute fall romance book. Overall I really liked this book. It had very cute and cozy vibes. It also had quite a bit of action. However, I felt like this book was very repetitive which was annoying. It also had a bit of family drama that I did not care for. But I loved the relationship between Nate and Scarlett. I loved the fall vibes of this book. I think this is a great read for this time of year. But this was not my favorite romance book. But with all this said I would suggest this book.

Thank you Emily Grimoire, Avon Books, and Netgalley for the ARC of this book.

Impractical Magic was a cozy read that somehow simultaneously felt a little slow and a little rushed. I didn't get the Charmed and Gilmore Girls vibes I was hoping for, but maybe that was just me. It's a cute story, just needed a slightly different delivery for me. I want my attention grabbed from the start and this wasn't it for me, but I could see other people enjoying it!

I had high hopes for this book but no matter how much I tried to enjoy it, it just felt like there was something missing.

I loved the premise and the different magical lore was really interesting and I also loved the description of New England in Autumn but overarching storyline and execution of the plot just weren't for me

The book is advertised for fans of Gilmore Girls and Charmed which I am completely a fan of. However I was only able to read about 20% of this book as I just couldn’t get past the overall writing style. It felt very rushed and crammed in my opinion. I am not trying to drag this debut author and the book may be perfect for someone, but it just didn’t do it for me.

I wanted to love this book based off the blurb, but it just didn’t do it for me. It felt like the author took things from every witchy, pumpkin spice, fall, hallmark movie/book and tried to cram it into this book. As always, my opinions are my own, and this may be perfect to someone else.

Oak Haven is a town where magic is still present and is where Scarlett's sister and child hood crush reside. People who live here never leave, except Scarlett did just that after a horrific accident resulting in her father's death which she blamed on herself. After her sisters told her that she was urgently needed back home since magic was going haywire, she reluctantly returns. There she has to face her past trauma with her family as well as her childhood crush.

Crazy thing begin happening in Oak Haven like books attacking people in the book store, needles becoming polyamorous, flamingos in people's yards. It is up to Scarlett and her sisters to solve the problems and figure out who is behind releasing dragonflies that are throwing the balance of everything off. While I was suspicious of the culprit from the start, I really enjoyed reading about how it got to that point.

I enjoyed Scarlett reconnecting with her childhood crush Nate. I do think Scarlett was a bit too stubborn, but her reasons were justifiable. I like that they were able to move past the tension and all of the other problems that seemed to be preventing them from moving forward.

This was the perfect cozy read for the fall season. I enjoyed every bit of it and I liked that the chapters were short enough for me to sneak a chapter in here and there throughout the day. The characters were very well thought out and all stood out individually. Thank you Netgalley, Avon Books UK, and Emily Grimoire for an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a an enjoyable read. It was definitely a cozy mystery that would be a good fall read. Scarlett was a good main character full of flaws. I enjoyed the chemistry between Scarlett and Nate and enjoyed seeing both of their character growths throughout the book. The setting was a cute charming magical town and the townspeople were all entertaining. It definitely would appeal to fans of Gilmore Girls. All in all a fun read.

I tried so so so hard to like this book. The premise is really cute. I however couldn't get over the writing style. It felt incredibly adolescent and very negative at times, so I unfortunately didn't finish it.

This book was a great concept, however, it was a hot mess. I don’t wish to drag a debut author and I’m so thankful for the chance to read it, however if your readers can see that a whole chapter was just a slightly changed scene of a town meeting from season 2, episode 5 of Gilmore Girls, there might be an issue.

The 2 main characters and indeed the whole family needed professional help. I wanted to love this because the synopsis sounds amazing, but it just was not there.

This was billed for fans of The Gilmore Girls and Charmed, I tick both boxes and this was not for me.

Scarlett is going home for the first time in 10 years. Except Scarlett’s New England home isn’t like anywhere else, it’s full of pumpkins and the majestic trees that are the source of magic in the town. There’s something up with the magic and the town needs Scarlett’s help.

The things I liked: the mad cast of town characters, the magic system which was very well thought out and the beautiful aesthetic of the town described.

My main problems with this book are that there was too much dialogue (which wasn’t witty banter), the romantic leads were flat and unconvincing and the driving conflict of the story was flimsy.

If cast well this could actually make a really cute series but as a book did not work for me.

Thanks you #netgalley for my #arc

I really enjoyed this book! I loved the cozy small town vibes and mystery aspect that it brought. The story was super cute and always had you second guessing who’d done it. I loved the MFC Scarlett’s character development, especially towards the end.

I honestly couldn’t stand Scarlett’s main character woe is me attitude for much of the book. I wish there was some more back story on her relationship with her mom and sisters and how they treat her so you understand why she has the feelings she does. It all comes together in the end but I do feel like some more context would have made the reader like her and understand her alot more.

3.5 ⭐️

A cute witchy read for the fall. Scarlett and her two sisters are tasked with saving their magical town. The story follows Scarlett who had been home in 10 years because of a traumatic accident where her father died and she blamed herself. As soon as she’s back in town she’s constantly reminded of that guilt. She and Nate seem to hit it off quickly, as if no time had passed, all while trying to figure out how to save the town with her sisters.

Overall the story was cute and if you like small towns, witches, and a little mystery, you’ll enjoy this book!

Thank you Avon Books UK and NetGalley for this ARC!

Wanted to love this because of the Gilmore Girls and Charmed comparisons but it fell flat. Definitely was a not well done knock off of Gilmore girls with some magical elements thrown in.

Unfortunately this book was a hard read. I wanted to love it based on the inspired by Gilmore girls reference on the cover but my gosh… Inspired by is a stretch. They took direct things from Gilmore girls and planted them in the book and just changed a very minor thing. The characters lacked originality and depth. Even their professions lacked originality. I have been watching Gilmore girls for 20 years and I really wish the author would’ve actually done “inspired by” instead of dropping in things like “oy with the poodles already” and just changing the animal. Nate’s hardware store with the best coffee in town… Scarlett’s family inn…. Come on! Everything in this book was surface level. I couldn’t connect to anything.

I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

Scarlet returns home after 10 years of self banishment at the request of her sisters. Magic in their small New England town has gone awry and they need all hands on deck to solve the mystery. Will they fix magic, will she reunite with the boy she always loved, will she feel welcome or will she want to escape back to her non magic life.?

A quick easy read. Perfect for a fall weekend when you just want a little escape from reality.

An adorable read with small town witchy vibes and all the autumn feels! It was a cute, cozy read perfect for the season but I will say it did drag a little bit. The ending wasn't my favorite but I still enjoyed it overall.

"Impractical Magic" brings all the cozy, witchy vibes you'd expect from a small-town autumn read, but the plot and character development feel a bit underwhelming. While the setting is charming, the story itself lacks the depth to fully engage. It's a decent choice if you're in the mood for something light and seasonal, but don't expect anything groundbreaking.

I received an advance copy of Impractical Magic thanks to NetGalley & Avon Book in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed this book. I was primed for something light and cozy as the weather is finally becoming bearable. I'd give it 3.5 stars. I thought the ending was a little disappointing which is why I didn't give it 4. The book was exciting and then the ending just dragged for me and was a little bit too easy considering the rest of the book. Overall though I loved the story and would read another by this author.
