This book is definitely not my style. I found it difficult to follow for the first 80% and I guess this is supposed to reflect the state of mind of the MC. I can imagine this book could be used in English Lit classes where the readers discuss the motives and mindset of the characters so if this is the kind of reading you like, then you'd probably love this book.

The MC lost her child but we don't know the details until the 80% mark. She's struggling to cope (understandably) and one day, starts driving and doesn't stop until the car breaks down. Then she walks, hitches and takes a bus, ending up in Mexico. This is where she starts to process her grief but it's still quite abstract. One of her new friends asked her what happened and that's where we get the full story.

I will admit to teary eyes at this point because we get to see her raw grief. The arrival of her mother is where the MC starts to show some real growth and the book ends with her moving towards a better future.

This book was heartbreaking. The feelings that Abby experienced just bled off the pages into the world. The random bursts of grief, catharsis, everything was so visceral. The other characters were equally as interesting and the book still left the reader wanting more even though it was just so hard to read.

Thank you NetGalley and Guernica for a copy of this book.

I liked this book! I think the main character was hard to like and to root for. She was going through a lot. The beautiful sceneries were well described, but the format of the book was a bit hard to get through on the NetGalley app. I wish it was on the kindle app to be easier to read and navigate.

Thank you to NetGalley, to the author, and to the publisher for this complementary ARC in exchange for my honest review!!!

This was incredibly hard to read in the app, I wish I would have just gone to Kindle like my other books. The format made it extremely difficult to get into.

A beautiful book, heartbreaking story. Kind of stream of consciousness writing..... drifting, dawdling, meandering. But it's beautiful writing. The only thing I did not like about the book was the main character. She was 90% unlikeable to me, regardless of her situation and what happened to her. I feel she wouldn't be likeable even if that had NOT happened to her.

But besides her, this is an engaging story, captivating scenery, and beautiful book.

This book was truly touching, and I could not put it down. It read incredibly cinematically, where I felt like I was watching what I read. A woman loses her son tragically, and gives up everything, and just moves to a small town in Mexico. This one is going to stay with me for weeks.

This novel deals with grief, specifically the grief of a young mother who loses her kid in an accident. This is not a topic I am especially sensitive to, but I know some readers might be, so you might want to consider this before reading this novel. After a while trying and failing to get her life back together after the death of Joseph, her son, she ends up traveling from Canada, where she's originally from, to a seemingly desolate town in Mexico.

It took me a while to get through this book. I took hour-long and even day-long pauses because it is dense. The mood is generally sad, which obviously is expected, given the subject matter. Something that helps going through it and actually enjoying it even if it's a heavy read is the cinematographic language. It felt like watching a movie or a show. I recommend reading this novel, but doing so slowly, taking your time to process.

"Blessed Nowhere" is so well crafted that I had to read it slowly in order to savor each sentence. It is the story of a woman who runs away from her life after the loss of her son. She leaves her beloved dog behind, gets rid of most of her possessions, and drives to Mexico. How she continues and comes to terms with her grief is something you will have to read to find out. Gritty, dark, and painfully authentic, this book is like nothing I have read before. Highly recommended. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
