I love short stories and this is an impressive and engaging volume. These stories have a touch of magic realism. You are drawn into the story but what you read is not what it seems and you have to peel away the layers of each story to really hear and understand what is being said.
I was lost most of the time as I read these stories but it didn’t matter because I was still able to revel in the beautiful and mystical prose. I loved the story about the company executive who quits his job to raise animals and make mozzarella. I was drawn into a world where I wanted to do the same, as do so many people in our world today with unsatisfactory work. I too want to work the fields and not have to deal with the foolishness of the work place.
These stories left me thirsting for more and made me realise that the distractions and unhelpful people in my life need to be minimised. They take up too much time, time that should be spent in the beauty of books like this.
