I read this book several months ago now, but it still sticks with me. What a great, Art Deco feel to the novel! I enjoyed being transported back to the 1920s and seeing the movie-like characters interact with one another. I didn't particularly love some of the Africa story (it dragged quite a bit in places), but overall the threads running through of brotherhood (particularly between twins), humanity (particularly with the tribe and most especially its chief), and humility were poignant, and this is a book I wish had been more successful. I would put it up there with something like The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, I feel. Very enjoyable, very memorable. It was like living in 1920s Hollywood, and I loved that.
