I love Moon's books. The problem I have is that I don't catch all of them at the right timed. This book did not make a lot of sense due to not having read Oath of Fealty, Kings of the North and Echoes of Betrayal. I am currently reading Limits of Power that fits into that series. I would have no idea what was going on without Crown of Renewal. So I like the book, the themes and the characters but I STRONGLY suggest reading them in order. Perhaps a summary at the beginning of each book would make them stand alone better but this did not stand alone well.
