This story will speak to all those kiddos who thrive off of their routines. Jamie has a robot in her socks that acts like an imaginary friend and security blanket at the same time. When she is faced with a change in schedule, can her Grandmother help her work through the anxiety or will her robot come to the rescue? I loved the raw emotions Jamie has throughout the book and the way the adults tried to work with her throughout the story. The illustrations are bright and colorful, and when combined with the rhyming on each page, the book will appeal to children of many ages. I particularly love how this book will connect to children who have anxiety themselves. Add this book to your library and classroom storytime.
Little Jamie has an imaginary robot friend with her at all times. The robo friend is there to make sure that everything goes according to the routines and mannerisms Jamie is used to. A lovely little story that shows that everyone can have a little robo friend if they get anxious or stressed.
The art style is very unique. You don't really see a lot of childrens books with this kind of style, so it was refreshing to see something new.

This books was a cute idea with the robot representing the girl’s fears and preferences. The novel was colorful with fun illustrations. The girl in the story had her own voice that I think many children would be able to relate to. The main character spends a day with grandma, who does a lot of things that are not the way “mommy does it.” Her robot, special buddy, shouts No! It has a good message to show kids that trying new things or doing something differently can be okay. I think many children would enjoy this book!
This was such a cute book with a sweet message. The illustrations match perfectly with the story. I really loved when the grandma also showed how she too struggles with things being perfect like the child. It’s a great way to show kids how adults also struggle daily just like them. This would be a great book to read to littles about patience and learning to adapt in different situations.
The metaphor in this seemed a little hard to understand for some kids (I’m reading with my 4 y/o niece), but the illustrations are lovely, the rhyme is engaging, and I appreciate the way it explains anxiety in an approachable way.

There's a Robot in My Socks is a super cute picture book about a young girl and her imaginary robot. The robot clearly represents her moods & need for structure with little change.
The illustrations on this one were super adorable & I loved the personification (or robotification) of the girl's emotions. This book is a great way to illustrate how it can feel to deal with changes big and small, & I appreciated the way the family listened to the girl in the book and dealt with her struggles.

A delightful story!
I read this book to my 5-y.o. who absolutely loved it! It is the story of Jamie, who has an imaginary robot "friend" which reflects her emotions. Jamie is particular about some things, which need to be exactly a certain way. As she spends a day with her grandma, things start going south and her robot get really unhappy.
The story is told in fun rhymes and is beautifully illustrated. The story can be a bit abstract and the kids need to be able to understand that the robot is imaginary and a reflection of Jamie's feelings. I was actually surprised at how well my kid understood this.
A great book to talk about touchy feelings!
My kids loved the idea of the robot and were really pulled into this story. From a parent stand point I really enjoyed the story and that if afforded me a chance to have a bigger conversation with them about change. As someone who suffers from OCD I was also happy to have a way to explain to my kids why I have certain things that have to be done just right. The illustrations were absolutely beautiful and this is definitely one that I would recommend to fellow parents.
The concept is fun and original, the visuals are nice and bright, but on the emotional front, I thought the story wasn't as compelling and engaging as expected.
This was such a great read for my 5 year old son. He is obsessed with robots. I loved how the plot is that it’s okay to be messy at times.
My son is on the spectrum and likes routine so this hit home with him and at the end he kept saying it’s okay to be messy. He made me read it twice in the same night. This is a great book and the illustrations are colorful and great for children.
I love the way they addressed the concept of having an imaginary friend and also how they represent the child and the way they think. The little robot was able to represent the child’s emotions in a very cute way through fun illustrations, and I like how to the parents and other family members handled to concept of the robot rather than brushing it off.
Didn’t love this one- the idea is there to make some kids that have aversions to things or rigid routine, and very much represented lots of grandmas to always reach for a sweet treat to hush a grand child.
I don’t think this is the best way that imaginary grandma can help, and I think it could have been executed with other redirection techniques.

Overall, I liked this book! The drawings were so colorful and detailed, and gave the story so much life. The expressions drawn on each character's face were impeccably executed, and it really helped convey emotion and tone to the reader.
So why did I give the book 4 stars? Only because of the title. I was a little confused about how it's "There's a Robot IN My Socks" when it seemed more like it should have been "There's a Robot ON My Socks". I think this because nowhere in the book is the Robot IN the socks. The Robot is always next to the girl, and is sometimes seen on the girl's socks.
However, I immensely appreciated that the author emphasized that it's okay to have your own quirks. It's a really good message for readers to get out of this story.
I loved this story! I work with kids and I think this book would be really good to read when they are struggling with change. The pictures are really cute and the main character acts age appropriate for their character.

This was a pleasant read about a girl who doesn’t cope with change well. I have a some with similar tendencies so it was nice to share the book with him.
The illustrations were lovely throughout and really gripped the attention of my 6 year old.
The story was good - it sparked conversations between my son and I about his routines and how it’s ok to do things a bit differently sometimes.
My only qualm with the book was the rhyming didn’t work in places - the flow and rhythm was a little bit off.
There's a Robot in My Socks is a vibrantly illustrated tale of a child dealing with anxiety from her OCD away from home. The concept of spending a night at Grandma's for the first time is relatable and the emotions shined through on the main character's face. This would be a great addition to elementary - both to the library and the counselor's office.
My family has so much fun reading this book at bedtime! My kids absolutely loved it. It was such a fun adventure and the illustrations were so well done. My kids loved the main character. Cute book!
"There's a Robot in My Socks" is a fun read aloud that children (and adults) who have a specific way of doing things will find very relatable. I read this to my son and it prompted some good conversations about how sometimes sticking to our way is important, but other times we can let it go, or try a new way! The illustrations are also fun and engaging. Overall, I'd highly recommend this book to young readers- especially ones with this specific personality!
