Very adorable children’s book. The illustrations were great and the story was MAGNIFICENT. I loved how quirky it was and I loved the dog sidekick
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again! That is the moral of the this delightful and amusing tale. A story I think children will read and ask to be read over and over again. The illustrations are simple but the emotions shine through. Highly recommended. Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for an ARC.
A cute story of a little girl and her dog (her assistant) who want to create something magnificent. The classic, “if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again” scenario. The little girl gets frustrated and takes a walk which helps her to figure out just what she needs to make her perfect creation. This is a great book to teach kids about making mistakes, how to handle frustration, and about not giving up. 4/5 stars.
This book is so adorable I loved it because the girl was trying to invent something truly magnificent I love seeing kids using their imagination and her assistant was adorable.
A wonderfully illustrated little story about being creative. I love how the book showed the emotion of getting frustrated and angry and then how important it was for her to take a break, do something different and then return for a new perspective on things.
A great book for an elementary classroom!
Thank you NetGalley and Kids Can Press for granting my wish!
Oh.My.Gosh. This book was MAGNIFICENT!!!
This is an adorable tale of a young girl, her bff/dog/assistant and the making of their creation or the most magnificent thing.
The pictures are wonderful and the two main characters are so freaking cute!!!
I loved all the play on words throughout the book, super fun story to read!!!
I can't wait to share this with the tiny humans in my life.
This is a great story to teach kids not to give up on their dreams. A little girl has a dream of building something magnificent. She makes several attempts, but none of them seem quite right. She gets angry and walks away from the project to take her dog for a walk. When she returns, she uses parts of each one to create something special.
The illustrations are brightly colored, and the story sends a wonderful message. It would make a terrific character-building story to add to a home or school library.
A really fun read with a nice message. Enjoyed reading it very much and am hoping it gets translated to French eventually so I can pick it up for my class.
This is one of my favourite children's book this year! What do I love? I love seeing this bright toddler getting a magnificent idea and trying to create it from scratch. I love how she goes through the process of thinking about it, designing it, finding what she needs, and then building it. More importantly, I love how she tries and fails over and over until she gets so frustrated she needs to take a break and go for a walk. In the end, she does manage to build what she wanted and it's magnificent, even though it's not perfect. What an amazing way to show kids that they need to keep trying and that they shouldn't get discourage by the lack of perfection!
I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thanks!
PS: the illustrations are quite pretty too.
I absolutely love this book and find it to be a great addition to the Growth Mindset curriculum at the beginning of each year. I have read this to my kids and found that they really understand and can relate with the little girl in the story. I think it's interesting how the kids receive the message that you can do anything you want, just keep trying, don't give up, and don't let the misunderstandings of others impact your ability to reach your goals. Fantastic Read!
What a lovely little story..... ideal for young children to teach them never to give up, you have to keep trying. Drawings a great, a nice simple story. Would recommend
An absolutely adorable book! My 6 and 4 year olds really liked this book. I like the dialogue it opened up and trying your best, but not expecting things to be “perfect”....and that you can always try more things. I thought it had a great lesson to be learned! Loved the illustrations.
A charming little children's book that will teach your child to never give up. Even though at times you may get frustrated all it takes is a little perspective. Beautiful story with stunning illustrations.
An adorable story about a girl and her assistant dog on a quest to make the most magnificent thing. A cute lesson in story telling never to give up on your dream. The illustrations are lively, and the dogs role is cuteness beyond words.
I had to buy the book myself to review it because the copy i was sent through netgallley didn't work unfortunately. I am sorry for the delayed review.
This book was really sweet, it is a story of a girl and her pet dog, who had a dream to make new things. However, she never feels succesful after she's done, she gets disappointed when everything goes absolutely differently that planned. After all, we see how she starts to she the good things in her efforts after she allows herdelf to take a little break-and this is the lesson lesrnt by this tale. Failure may sometimes not be the case. It may be giving up, or not insisting or not giving things a second chance, that makes us feel empty. I totally recomend this book and in my opinion it makes a great story to be studied at schools by students, because it can definitely make a better person out of anyone.
This is a truly magnificent book for all kids especially now with so much expectations on kids. This book is about determination, never giving up, and seeing the end goal till the end. I would highly recommend this book to all readers! The illustrations were excellent too!
THIS BOOK IS ADORABLE. Seriously, I cannot say enough good things about it - it uses synonyms, it addresses feelings of frustration and anger and what to do when that happens, how to treat a pet, how to unlock your creativity, and the illustrations are great. 10/10 would definitely recommend (and I'm planning to already!).
Cute short book about not giving up, taking a step back and going at it again - and succeeding . A message not just for little readers/listeners!
A great read for any storytime! You teach children how to work and learn problem-solving. We meet a little girl who is frustrated by her inventions. Nothing looks right, nothing is what she imagines it to be. She goes through countless tries and when she can't figure it out she is hit with perspective and a solution. Wonderful story with great illustrations.
A cute book teaching children about not giving up no matter how hard the task, also always be creative.
