A little girl decides to build the most magnificent thing. Her pug dog is her assistant. She tries a few times to build it. When it’s finished it doesn’t feel or look right. She tries building it square and round. She gives it legs and antennae. She makes it fuzzy. But still it is not magnificent. She decides to go on a walk. Then she discovers there is something right about each of the things she’s made. She gos back to work. Will she succeed in making the most magnificent thing?#blog #book #magnificentthing #ashleyspires
This is truly a wonderful children's book. The drawings are delightfully simple, but full of the passion and emotion of a little girl on a mission. A fantastic read-aloud book that both children and adults will enjoy - I know that I did.
This book is magnificiant, and the message it sends is more than magnificient. I loved what's mentionned in the first illustration, the fact that you're already a special person with lots hidden inside, all you have to do (hardest part) is reach out and pull it.
It is about never quitting, and the fact that it is OK to get frustrated from time to time and take a little break, alowing us to look back and realise that all those experieces we consider as "failures" are the little pieces that will make the wrong things become "THE" magnifiecient thing.
PS: I won't be spoiling the end by posting the last illustration! and the illustrations were delicious.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the copy!!
The Most Magnificent Thing happened to me: my wish came true and I was approved for this little gem.
This is the short story of a little girl and her canine companion/assistant, as she sets out to make the most magnificent thing in the world.
But as much as she tries, nothing really turns out the way she wants it to. So her frustration builds up, until one small incident makes her explode. The one who comes to her aid is her assistant. The dog suggests a walk and the little girl relaxes. Also, she's able to see what's not working with her invention, so that she finally builds the most magnificent thing.
This picture book truly is a beautiful thing. It shows children how hard and frustrating the creative process can be. And how they should never give up, just take a moment to relax. I highly recommend this for children of all ages.
Very cute book with a great message about working hard and not giving up immediately. This book perfect for everyone not just for children.
I'm an entrepreneur and always explore a new idea to make a new 'thing' to sell, so I'm going to make the most MAGNIFICENT thing! I know how it will look and how it will work. All I have to do is make it, and I make things all the time. Easy-peasy!
But of course it's not easy. I fail, I cry, I'm mad. I’m no good at this so "I QUIT”. My friend suggests me to take a walk. It’s not much help at first. But before long, I start to feel different.
After that I'm trying again.
I fail again, I cry again, I mad again.
Yes this book is about me! I'm an adult.
What a lovely uplifting book to read to my great niece. She loved it and started suggesting ways to make the magnificent 'thing' better. A good positive well written and beautifully illustrated children's book.
What a delightfully wonderful little book.
The illustrations are beautiful and such a great message to send to children-that to use your intellect, imagination, and even though you might get a little upset to stick with it, and you can accomplish anything.
Plus having a dog as a sidekick doesn't hurt either.
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley for an honest opinion. My thanks to Ashley Spires and Kids Can Press for the opportunity.
