Resorting to Romance is the ideal summer getaway, feel-good read! Set on an island, the summer ambiance is cast perfectly. Mila and Kai are just perfect together. I love how Kai has respected the boundaries and recognized that as a single mother, Mila needs a little extra help around the B&B and supporting her rambunctious son, Noah. Kai is naturally a protector and known for his chill vibe. So, when Mila’s ex shows up unannounced and rocks her world, the fierce warrior emerges, and he goes into full on protection mode by introducing himself as her boyfriend. Watching the two of them struggle to deny what everyone else can so plainly see is sweet and endearing. They are so in love that they have both been blinded and it’s priceless. The three fairy god mothers, Noah, Shaka, and all the family and friends are such great support (and comedic relief). I love seeing this side of Kai and adored him and Mila together. Clean, sweet, while still full of chemistry and romance.

Woohoo!!! I am loving this series sooo much!!! And I can't tell you how excited I was when I found out that this 4th book was going to be Kai and Mila's story! Like happy dancing and squealing excited! Ok, I probably didn't do a happy dance for real but inside I was! Haha! I loved the little teasers we'd get about these two in the previous books and let me tell you, this story melted my heart so much. Like puddle of melted happiness!!! Kai and Mila are the most adorable couple! Add in Noah and his interactions with Kai and it's more than just cuteness overload! It's Sweet Romance story overload! All in a good way of course!!!
I've loved all of the books in this series so far (Ok, I haven't read the first book yet but I need to do so really soon!) but this one seriously takes the cake! I honestly couldn't read it fast enough! I read a few pages of it last night but was so tired that I fell asleep. But as soon as I woke up, I got ready and knew I was going to have a great morning enjoying this beauty! Today was my one morning in forever that I had some down time and oh boy did I use it wisely! I grabbed my Dr. Pepper Zero with Coconut Cream, put on my bathing suit and went outside and enjoyed a beautiful morning soaking up the rays with the Romance! Seriously best way to enjoy this book because trust me when I tell you that while you are reading it, you're going to be dreaming of warm weather and lots of sunshine!
I can't get over how adorable these two are! And they say they're just "friends!" Ha! I don't buy it one moment Kai and Mila! You two just need to see past all of your reservations and be honest with yourselves and with each other. And fake dating! Oh heavens! Just call it what it is...you're really dating and love each other!
Seriously go read this one as soon as you can and just bask in the cuteness and perfection of it all!!!
Content: Clean. The author gives a trigger warning at the beginning of the book letting readers know that this book deals with a single parent/mom raising a son but her ex wants to come back into the picture and be in the son's life. I thought that it was written very well and was very sensitive and thoughtful for readers who might have or might be experiencing that in their lives. There is no language. There are several kisses that are fantastic but not pushing any boundaries for keeping this book clean. I love that I know I can always count on this author to deliver clean and wholesome romance for me to enjoy and that I can share with my teenagers or others without worrying about content! Thank you a million times Savannah Scott!!!
I received a copy from the author through Victory Editing NetGalley Co-Op, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
Happy Reading!!!
This was such a cute fake dating romance, I absolutely loved Kai and Mila! These two had such a strong friendship and seeing them realize they both have feeling for each other was so sweet! I loved their dynamic and I was rooting for them from the start. Kai had such a sweet relationship with Mila's son, Noah - they had such a strong bond and Kai cared about Noah so much. This was such a sweet story and i will definitely be going back to read the previous books in the series!
Such a cute story. Great friends. Fake dating. An amazing single mom. Found family. Closed door romance. This is book 4 of the Love Trippin’ series but can be read as a stand alone.
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Watch for Resorting to Romance to come out June 28, 2024.
📚ARC Review 📚
Resorting to Romance ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Mila is a single mom and owner of a bed and breakfast on Marbella Island. She has her hands full juggling that, her son Noah and her three “fairy godmother” aunts. The last thing on her mind is a relationship.
Kai Kapule is the resort’s water sports manager and Mila’s friend. He’s helped her over the years fixing things at the bed and breakfast. He is Unko to Noah and has been a positive influence in his life.
When Mila’s ex husband comes back into town, Kia steps in to play her pretend boyfriend. But it’s only pretending for so long til they both realize they have feelings for each other.
This is the 4th book in the Love Trippin' series and it’s my favorite by far! I loved both these characters. Mila and Kia are perfect for each other. Loved the writing style with the dual point of view. I also liked how the others in the previous books were mentioned in this book as well. It’s a sweet closed door romcom.
Even though it is part of a series, you can still read this one as a standalone and be fine. This book publishes on June 28, 2024. It’s a great summer read! Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing for my advanced readers copy. This is my honest and voluntary opinion.
Yes I want to learn to surf now. This has been a fun series. Perfect beach read. It is a stand alone novel but why when all the books are good! Quick fun read.
Mila and Kai are such a great couple! I have been looking forward to their story since it was obvious to everyone but them that they were next thing to a couple anyway. Kai is so sweet and supportive, and it was lovely to see him realize that he was in love. Mila is very sunshiny and handled difficult situations with humor and grace. Speaking of humor, Ben just gets funnier with each book. He stole his scenes.
Set on a fictional island off the coast of Southern California, Kai and Mila's story is the 4th book in the Love Trippin' series. Back at Mirabelle Island, we get to see the brother/best friend from the 3rd book get his story. I loved how their love grew over the story. They felt mature (early 30s) including communicating with each other. His relationship with her son was so precious! And I really appreciate the author's note at the beginning of this story.
This story had:
Dual POV
Fake dating
Friends to lovers
Slow burn
Single mom
Fantastic best friend and supportive aunts
Cute dog (is back!)
Surfing
Savannah Scott remains an auto-buy for me, so excited for the next book (and conclusion of this great series)!
Rating: 5 / 5
Closed door / sweet
Thank you NetGalley and Victory Editing for allowing me to review this ARC!
This was the perfect summer read! I love a good single mom romance and this one did not disappoint. It was cute, sweet, heartwarming, and really fun. One of my favorite tropes is fake dating and this does it so well. Kai and Mila were adorable together and Mila deserved a great romance and happy ending. There is a lot going on, and everyone knows everyone and the gossip and business. I liked the found family aspect of this as well. I had a really good time reading this book!
What is better than a single dad romance? A single mom romance!!!!
I absolutely loved this book with all my heart. Kai and Mila were so adorable together that I had a big smile on my face the entire time I was reading the book. I really appreciate how they took their time to realise their feelings for each other rather than insta-love. I loved how they both prioritised Noah’s feelings before they took any step.
Kai is such a sweetheart who is ready to give anything in exchange for nothing. Mila is so kind that she wants best for everyone.
I enjoyed how the author wrote their journey with their character development that was consistent with their personality. I loved how there was no unnecessary drama or tangent thrown in. And I especially enjoyed their communication throughout. The way they spoke TO each other instead of speaking ABOUT each other was commendable.
The story was easy to follow and even though this was my first one from the series, I did not feel lost. Side characters were well written and balanced the plot very well.
Overall, I enjoyed every single bit of this book and I cannot wait to read more from the author.
Thank you so much for the ARC.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Victory Editing for providing me with this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
2.5 stars. Good enough to read to the end with a minimum of scanning.
This was my first time reading one of Savannah Scott's books. I heard about her through Emma St. Clair, one of the other authors who wrote one of the "Sweater Weather" stories.
First the positives: There were glimmers throughout the story of humor, a sweet love story, heartwarming family relationships, and somewhat witty dialogue. Also, I loved The Letter.
However, I kept feeling like this should have been a short story or novella as the moment when they finally communicated their true feelings seemed to take way too long. Also, although Mila's reason for not dating made sense initially, after a while it just stopped making a lot of sense as the story developed. Finally, what happened to Brad??? Once he gave up trying, he wasn't ever mentioned again. I mean, wasn't he planning on starting a business in competition with Kai's? I felt like that part of the plot left the reader hanging.
No profanity and some kissing.
Small island, surfing vibe, friends and coworkers like family, and everyone knows everyone's business. Lots going on, hidden feelings and secrets - oh and quite a bit of humor hidden in there amongst the insecurities and that dog you really do love, bit won't admit it. A fun and substantial romance with a great summer vibe.
This was a great romance. I liked it quite a bit. It was cute, sweet, heartwarming. Pick this one up!
Title: Resorting to Romance by Savannah Scott
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Release date: June 28th 2024
Marbella Island, where Harper, a single mom and owner of a bustling bed-and-breakfast, manages life's whirlwind with the help of her lively son, Noah, and her three quirky fairy godmother aunts.
Romance is the farthest thing from Harper's mind until Kai Kapule, the resort’s water sports manager, steps in to play her pretend boyfriend.(oh yeah!)
Kai, known for his knack in fixing everything from leaky faucets to creaky floorboards, now takes on the role of Harper’s doting partner to ward off unwanted attention from her ex. What starts as a practical arrangement soon blurs into something more as Kai’s genuine concern and charm begin to win over Harper's heart.
Together, they navigate the complexities of their charade, from stolen kisses to bonding moments with Noah, leading Harper down a path of unexpected attraction to Kai.
Savannah Scott delivered a delightful small-town romance filled with humour, heart, and a touch of island magic! A delightful tale of friendship evolving into love against the backdrop of Marbella Island's sun-soaked charm. The chemistry between Harper and Kai sizzles off the pages, turning their friends-to-lovers journey into a captivating and heartfelt slow burn.
Scott’s writing style effortlessly blends light-hearted moments with deeper emotional beats, creating a story that is both charming and realistic.
"Resorting to Romance" not only celebrates the fake dating trope with finesse (which I love) but also explores themes of family, trust, and the courage to open oneself to love again. It’s a feel-good read that will leave you smiling and swooning, perfect for anyone seeking a dose of laughter, love, and sunshine in their next romantic escape.
Scott’s integration of realistic themes and genuine character dynamics makes "Resorting to Romance" a standout addition to the Love Trippin’ Series, promising readers a memorable and enjoyable ride from start to finish. Highly recommend! Add this to your tar for your next summer read.

If you have read anything by Savannah Scott, you are well aware of how amazing her books are and how they just leave you counting down the days until she releases more. I was so excited to get Resorting to Romance as I needed more Kai (and Mila) in my life. It was such a great book, and I finished it in one evening (now I need more please and thank you!). She writes some of the best clean romance with the amazing characters.
Thank you netgalley for an arc of Resorting to Romance by Savannah Scott
This was a fun book. I absolutely Noah and his thoughtfulness and his candor. I loved the relationship between Kai and the dog. How he kept saying he didn’t care about the dog when he really did. Both of the main characters were sweet and you could absolutely feel they cared about each other but were scared. I feel that for sure with someone right now so maybe I need to fake a relationship with them. Just kidding, that won’t happen.
My plan is to share this book on Instagram on june 28th at https://www.instagram.com/robinashleyreads?igsh=MXczYmd6bmszdXN2Nw%3D%3D&utm_source=qr
