I love this series! It’s the perfect mix of cozy mystery and thriller. Being set in (fictional) rural Benedict Alaska adds to the uniqueness of this series. The quirky cast of characters are well developed and interesting making you care about each and every one.

Travis, Beth’s kidnapper from a year ago, has escaped custody and is on the run searching for Beth. Luckily for Beth most of the town is looking out for her as usual. Will Travis be caught and pay for his crimes? Will Beth survive another attack? Read this book to find out for yourself.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a fast paced cozy mystery/thriller with short chapters. It’s a quick read that holds your interest from beginning to end.

This is the 6th book in the Alaska Wild series. As usual the author does a fabulous job of describing the settings of the story and of building the suspense. Travis kidnapped Beth (the name she’s going by now) and when she was able she changed her name and moved to a little known town in Alaska. Everyone there now knows her and is willing to watch out for her. Along with getting news Travis has escaped from prison she soon is involved in a puzzle that includes a mine and Sasquatch. All the characters—except Travis—are very realistic and easy to like. I haven’t read the first 4 books of this series and found it easy to follow because there is plenty of backstory included in the narrative.. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.

After a year spent hiding in the Alaskan wilderness while her kidnapper was sought by the police back home in Missouri, Beth Rivers is about to come face-to-face with the man who turned her world upside down. Beth’s kidnapper—and her father’s one time partner in crime—has managed to escape custody and he’s on his way to Alaksa to find Beth. To hopefully evade Travis, Beth and her boyfriend decide to take a camping trip. Meanwhile, back in Benedict, Beth’s parents, the police chief, and a handful of other friends are prepared to take down Travis should he show up in the small town. Beth’s and Tex’s camping trip takes them by the isolated community of Blue Mine. While there, they learn that several of the Blue Mine citizens have met tragic ends. The community is also allegedly being stalked by Bigfoot. Setting aside her concerns for her own safety, Beth and Tex decide to help one of the Blue Mine women transport her husband’s body back to Benedict so that the police chief can determine who murdered him. Things quickly go sideways when the body is lost in a rainstorm. Not only is Beth running from Travis, but she also has Bigfoot on her trail. Instead of retreating into the wilderness, Beth decides to remain in Benedict to await Travis’s inevitable arrival.

PERFECT STORM is a thrilling addition to the Alaska Wild series. The Travis storyline has been building since the first novel, and it finally comes to a head in PERFECT STORM. While PERFECT STORM can be read as a standalone—there is enough backstory to get the read caught up with the past year of Beth’s life—but I would recommend reading the entire series. Having just binge-read the series, the story of Beth’s kidnapping and her new life in Alaska was fresh in my mind. I was looking forward to this final confrontation between Beth and Travis, and I was a little disappointed that it was over so quickly. The focus of the novel bounces back and forth between Travis’s impending arrival in Benedict and the string of recent murders at Blue Mine. The Blue Mine plot takes up a lot of space, but there is ultimately no real conclusion. It serves more as a distraction for the main characters and ruins the carefully laid plan of the group dealing with Travis while Beth and Tex are safely camped out it the backcountry. I’m looking forward to the next novel to see how Beth’s life changes now that she is no longer looking over her shoulder for Travis.

Perfect Storm is the 6th book in the Alaska Wild Series. I have read all of the series from the first book, Thin Ice. Beth Rivers is the main character who came to Benedict, Alaska to escape Travis Walker who kidnapped her and held her captive for three days in a white van. he was caught and put in prison. Detective Majors was the detective on her case informed Beth that Travis has escaped from prison and has threatened to find her and kill her. She is living at the Benedict House run by Viola. Benedict is a small village out in the wilderness. She is debating leaving but the people who know why she is there tell her that they will protect her. it is decided that her boyfriend Tex will take her camping and to an isolated cabin where she will be safe. She and Tex leave.

While on their journey they run into a woman named Jin who is taking her dead husband. Brill, to Gril, the police chief of Benedict, as she thinks her husband had been murdered. Tex recognizes her and tells her that she should go back to the murder scene so that they can get more information. When back at the Blue Mine camp where a small group of people live. Two men are sitting around a campfire guarding the camp. One of the men, Lonnie, tells Tex that four people have been killed and they think it is "The Beast" who is doing it. The beast is half human and half animal. Big Foot? Tex and Beth believe it someone in the camp is dressing up in a costume. While there two trappers, Bruce and Francis come through and recognize Beth. They are on thier way to Mason Ridge to check on their traps. The other person who is at the camp on and off is a man named Peter.

Tex, Beth and Jin go back to Benedict with the body on the horse. They stayed in a clearing where Tex and Beth originally stayed on their way up. Tex went to check on Jin during the night and found that Jin had already left with the horse. While waiting for Tex Beth thought she saw The Beast outside her tent. Tex and Beth left the next morning as it had been raining hard out the day before so Tex didn't want to follow after Jin. Getting to town they found Jin there but without the body of Brick who had been lost in the river as Jin was crossing it.

Tex, Beth and Jin go back to Benedict taking the body with them. They camp where Tex and Beth did on their way up. During the night Tex goes to check up on Jin and finds that she has already left with the horse and body. They leave the next day to go back to Benedict where t hey find Jin already there but without the body. It had been washed away when she was crossing the river. When mentioning Peter's name both Gril and Donner look at each other. Peter Murray lives in Benedict and has been missing from his cabin for about 9 weeks. Beth is surprised to find both of her parents there. They haven't seen each other since her father, Eddie, had left her mother, Mill and Beth when she was young.

Gril tells Jin that she is to stay in town and that he will go back to Blue Mine but Jin again leaves Benedict. Gril decides he will check on Peter's cabin and sends Eddie and Donner back to the camp to check on what is happening. Tex would stay at Benedict House to protect Beth. Later Gril comes and tells them that a body had been found and they need to go and get it. After getting the body Beth slipped and hit Tex and they fell into the river. Tex was able to get out but Beth went further down and was pulled out by a man in dark clothes and ski mask. She feared that it was Travis but later it was Stellen, the police chief from the St. Louis area. He was looking for Travis.

The body is taken to the doctor's house and upon opening the material that surrounded the body found it was not Brick but Peter Murray. They realized that Jin was on the run. They all went back to Benedict House to make another plan.

There is too much going on to put on paper so I will leave it to the reader to enjoy to the exciting ending.

Thank you NetGalley and Minotaur Books for this ARC.

Yes, I am addicted to this series with its suspense, crazy plot twists, and ingenious red herrings.
Beth is an author who has been hiding out in a remote area of Alaska from the man who kidnapped/traumatized/brain injured/stress disordered her in her hometown of St Louis but although he was sentenced, he has recently escaped prison and is after her again. The fear in her has escalated and now there is another threat in the area that has implications for all of her friends and more.

3.5 stars
I've fallen yet again to my own greediness for ARCs into not realizing the book I'm requesting is part of a series. It's clearly indicated, but I guess my brain just overlooks that part. That being said, there were no issues following what was going on. While I think reading the 5 books that preceded this may have enhanced the experience, nothing was taken away in not doing so. The writing is great and all the characters are so enjoyable (with the exception of Travis of course). Our main character Beth's mother is a hoot and a half...and there's even a Sasquatch mixed in amongst them. I want to talk myself into giving this a 4 star rating, and a probably should. I guess maybe I'm just not a big fan of outdoor wildnerness adventures/misadventures, but if you love a good mystery, a few twists along the way, and strong characters, you would do well to pick this one up!!!

Beth Rivers needs to disappear from Benedict when her one-time kidnapper Travis escapes from jail and is on his way
to find and kill her. Unfortunately, Blue Mine, the place she intends to hide with her boyfriend Tex has had some mysterious deaths/murders. They return to Benedict with one of the Blue Moon residents so Police Chief Grif can investigate. Do the deaths/murders have anything to do with Travis? The danger level stays high for Beth and those protecting her.
Sixth book in the series - best read in order.

Perfect Storm is the sixth book in the Alaska Wild series featuring Beth Rivers who has escaped to Benedict, Alaska after being kidnapped and held and terrorized before escaping. Beth learns her kidnapper has escaped prison. The town of Benedict rallies around her to protect her. I enjoyed the return of all the familiar town residents introduced in the previous books. The setting of Alaska continues to play a pivotal role in the story. Adding mystery is the death of a villager and members of a mining community. I enjoyed this book and recommend it to fans of Paige Shelton and for new readers to her series. I am looking forward to the next in this series.

I enjoyed Perfect Storm, especially the beginning of a tentative relationship between Beth and Tex, but the story would have been improved with a bit more backstory as to the kidnapping of Beth by Travis Walters. The haziness of the crime along with the sketchy descriptions of her parents led me to believe from the start of their being complicit in some way. The uneasiness of their relationships did create in me a similar feeling to that Beth had for them. I received an ARC from NetGalley, and the opinions expressed are my own.

Oh this book was just absolutely incredible. It kept me on the edge of my seat from the start to end. The setting was perfect. And I fell in loved with the characters. Highly recommend!

Back in Benedict with Beth and Tex, in this Alaska Wild series.

Travis has escaped. Beth and Tex decide to get away for a bit and go camping. But not for long. When they spy a person leading a horse with a body hanging over it, their camping comes to an end.

Who is the dead person? And how did he come to be with Jin at the mine. And why is someone killing the people at the mine?

With more than one suspicious person playing hide and seek in the woods surrounding the town, they will need to divide to conquer.

The characters in this series are so well-done. Even Bigfoot.

Always a good mystery to solve with this one!

Another good book in this series. It resolves a series wide plot so I hope that does not mean the series end. You really care about the characters.

Beth’s kidnapper has escaped prison and threatened to find her and kill her. Beth, who barely survived the first kidnapping, is scared of Travis finding her, but also angry. She has hidden out in a remote Alaskan town where everyone looks out for the community which includes Beth. Beth is a strong character and has built a life, including finding love. As her friends rally around to protect Beth, they learn of deaths at an isolated mining camp. Who is killing the miners and where is Travis? The two mysteries bring tension and action and the story quickly caught hold of me and kept me reading every spare moment. I love the characters and the location.
Thanks to St. Martins Press and NetGalley for the ARC.

“A walk is always good for the soul.”

This series keeps getting better! This one held my attention from cover to cover and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to hike in Alaska again without looking for a light blue sock with Mickey Mouse embroidered on the back.

As always, readers get a little more of the backstory and the jigsaw pieces of Beth Rivers’ life start to fit together. I loved the trek to Blue Mine, the murder mystery and the appearance of Bigfoot. Jin was a fantastic character; she kept throwing me off with her unpredictability.

I think the biggest lesson for me was to be aware of complacency.

Shelton creates an atmospheric mystery for sure, but she is a master at keeping her readers guessing and doling out just enough information to keep us turning pages. I eagerly await the next installment in this series.

I was gifted this copy by St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

Thank you to NetGalley & St. Martin's Press for this ARC of Perfect Storm by Paige Shelton in exchange for an honest review! This is the sixth installment in Shelton's Alaska WIld series. I do feel like you can just read this book and you'll be able to figure out all of the information/details you need to understand the characters & their backgrounds pretty early on! That being said I think this book in particular will be better served if you've read at least some of the earlier books. You'll have a great appreciation of the characters obviously, and also what situations are finally coming to a head for them.

I was excited to read Perfect Storm, and I think it's my favorite of the Alaska Wild series. It has some really great suspense that I enjoyed. And like I always find with this series, it's an excellent mix of a cozy mystery and a thriller. Though this book in particular was probably the most thrilling of the series in my opinion. Another great adventure in Benedict! I would say Perfect Storm is a book you'll struggle to put down, especially if you've read the earlier books. You'll be very invested in finding out what happens next!

Again I find that I'm a fan of Beth! She's a strong protagonist. But there's really no character that I didn't like. And like always the setting is an absolute favorite of mine. I feel like the setting was a very present feature in Perfect Storm and I really appreciated what it adds to the story!

This is a book I'd recommend to anyone looking for a well-written mystery, but if you've already read this series you absolutely have to continue with this installment!

I enjoyed this book. I especially enjoyed the conclusion. I’m hoping that this is not the end of us following Beth’s journey.

Beth's adventures in Alaska continue! I enjoyed this book and the continued development of all the characters in Benedict although it isn't my favvorite in the series. The plot sometimes wandered a bit and a few things seem to not settle with the current situation. I still got into this story and can't wait to see what's next for Beth and all her friends! Many thanks to the Author, publisher, and NetGalley for an ARC, opinions are my own.

WOW WOW WOW!!! Paige Shelton delivers - and then some - with Perfect Storm. Beth Rivers has been "hiding" in Benedict, Alaska, since her traumatic kidnapping. Now, her kidnapper, Travis, has escaped from jail back in Missouri and appears to be heading for Alaska. Beth's friends are all on high alert to protect her. Her boyfriend, Tex, takes her camping in the Alaska wilderness where they come across Jin, a woman from a mining community who insists that Bigfoot is murdering men (including her husband). The twists just keep coming as Tex, Beth, and Jin head back to Benedict to alert Gril (the local sheriff) of the murders. To complicate matters, Beth's divorced parents are both inserting themselves in protecting her. And, I need to mention, the supporting cast in this series is one of the best around! This is the sixth installment of the Beth River's series - you don't have to read the others prior to beginning this one as the author catches the reader up - but you will want to go back to the beginning as this series is soooo good! A great big thank you to Ms, Shelton and St. Martin's Press for an advanced reader of Perfect Storm. I absolutely loved it! The opinions expressed are my own.

Book six in Paige Shelton's Wild Alaska series. It's my favorite of her fives series but in all honesty this one was not my favorite. I liked the characters in this series and I love the setting (even though I'm not at all convinced that it is even close to being realistic), but I didn't love the plot of this one.
