This is my second book by Sophie Sullivan, and similar to A Guide To Being Just Friends, I didn’t read the first book(s) in the series before picking up the standalone in the same environment. I didn’t realize I was doing it again (whoops), but I just remember loving how Sullivan wrote her characters and wanting to dive into something well-written and not frustrating. Overall, the love story here was very well written and I really loved the world we were dropped into!

What didn’t work for me

The “standalone” in a series: Just like last time, I really wish I had realized this was the second book in a series before I requested it as an ARC. Although Sullivan does a really great job at filling in the blanks you missed if you didn’t read the first one, it felt like I was walking into a room halfway through the story when it came to anything about the Keller family. Though I loved their dynamic (more on that later), everything felt pretty established, and I still felt like I was missing…something. It didn’t affect the actual romance or the plot for the main characters, but it was more just a feeling.

Jillian’s ex: I don’t want to venture into spoiler territory, but I don’t think we needed the extra tension with Jillian’s husband. It made her character a little more frustrating, to be honest. I wish he were just an absent father who wasn’t really mentioned or acknowledged.

What I liked

The male main character: It’s so refreshing when the male main character knows what he wants and is all in with the female main character before she is. He wasn’t trying to play with her mind and wasn’t on the fence. He was all in—and it was so sexy. Plus, he’s a chef, which is just a bonus in general.

Family dynamics: I literally kept this from my last review because this is another situation where I loved the family dynamics. The Keller clan are just so supportive of each other without being fake—and you pretty much want to be adopted as a reader. Even Levi’s family dynamics were a bit complicated, but it seemed realistic for small-town living. Plus, there’s Jilly’s little girl, Ollie, who adds some humour and lightness to the story in the best way.

I liked Jilly from the beginning. Her high school environment was realistic. I felt like I was there with her. I feel sympathy with her backstory with her having to raise her daughter alone. I was hoping that she could find happiness, and was happy when she met Levi.

The lodge she runs with her brother is an original idea. and Sophie Sullivan writes really well. This is the second book in a series and I would like to experience the rest of the series to get more backstory, because I really liked the characters.

There's a good mix of banter, real life issues and difficult moments in the story. I feel that both characters are relatable.

Smile is a great name for the town and is very original.

Thanks to Sophie Sullivan for my eARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

Sophie Sullivan writes books you just want to get lost in. They are so comforting and this one was no different!

This second chance romance was adorable. I loved the characters and their chemistry! Loved the low angst, small town vibes happening in this book. Jilly & Levi. ❤️

Escape to Get Lost Lodge a cozy, family-run retreat brought to life in detail in this lighthearted contemporary romance. Book two in the series, but easily read as a standalone (I did!). Loved Levi and the sweet HEA. Looking forward to more!

I just loved getting to enter this world. I just loved getting to meet these characters and see what they are currently getting themselves into. This book was just a really fun read. I just lost myself in this great story and I didn’t want to put it down. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

You can always count on Sophie Sullivan to write a heartwarming romance, and Get Lost with You delivers. This is the second book in a series, but you don't need to read the first to enjoy Levi and Jilly's love story in Smile.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for sharing this book with me.

This was a nice, quiet, happy romance. No big drama. Tropes include second chance, single parent, and brother's friend tropes. Levi is a nice guy who returns to his home town and reconnects with his friend's younger sister who he'd had feelings for in the past. The book had good side characters and a nice atmosphere and setting. I would read others in the series.

The sweetest second chance(ish) small town romance! These characters were so relatable. From being a single mom, to taking care of parents, going through a divorce and dealing with a nasty ex…I enjoyed this from beginning to end. I love that Levi and Jillian got to explore their past feelings for each other. When we find out he’s loved her since he was a teen 😭 oh my heart! I loved this one so much!

Tropes:
Small town
Single mom
Second chance
Ron com
Brothers best friend

When Levi Bright returns home, he intends to build a different future than the one that he created in the big city. He did not intend on rekindling an old crush with his best friends little sister, Jillian Keller.

This was an adorable, easy read. A cute, second chance love story.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series and was so happy the sequel was equally as amazing! This is a warm, heartfelt second-chance romance in charming small-town Michigan. Jillian and Levi’s story is has strong, mature communication, which is so refreshing, and their slow-burn reconnection is believable. I adored the cozy Michigan setting, with a fun cast of characters, and such a lovely romance. Can't wait for this series to continue!

Sincere thanks to NetGalley and St Martins Press for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is a quick fun read. I did think the main characters were a bit immature for 30 year olds and the story is predictable. But I enjoyed the setting and the fast pace!

Get Lost With You was a cute read about second chances at love. Jilly had a major high school crush on her brothers’ handsome friend, Levi, who moves a way to pursue his dream of being a famous chef in a big, fancy restaurant. As would have it, he moves back to their small town in northern Michigan, and they reconnect. However, jilly is divorced with a very precocious, nine-year-old daughter, and lots of emotional baggage from her ex.

They fall into a whirlwind romance, and I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, for some drama, but that never really happened. Instead, it was one big chick flick romcom with very minimal angst.

3 stars for me, but this was a fun beach read, it was lighthearted and sweet.

I did not realize this was a sequel until after I read it, but that didn’t negatively impact my understanding of the plot or feelings for the characters. The series features books for the different siblings from the same small town, Michigan family. This one focuses on the divorced, single mother baby sister of the family and whether she should give love another shot.

I enjoyed the couple who had good banter and chemistry but the spice level was zero. Now I’m fine with things being vanilla, but I’m not a fan of closed door sex scenes or lack there of. Now if that’s your jam this book would be great. I also loved the setting.

This book wasn’t bad, but it just wasn’t as deep of a story as I thought it would be. Even though the potential was there to dig into expected conflicts and issues, it stayed pretty surface level with things either resolving quickly or not being mentioned again. The romance started with almost no notice or discussion just “oh wait we love each other” from the jump, which is also hard for me to believe. I get that there was history between them from being teenagers, but the relationship as adults moved so fast. I wanted a little more slow burn to the romance like we were getting with their trust in each other. I understood Jilly’s overwhelm but also was annoyed by her reactions because Levi was so solid and sweet. And that was compounded by the fact that their relationship was so quick.

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this ARC!

Levi has returned home, to the small town of Smile, after living his dream as a head chef the past fifteen years. His father has just had gall bladder surgery and Levi wants to lend a hand with his dad’s construction business knowing his dad would need time to recover. But his arrival was met with a frosty response from his father who was equally upset by Levi’s desire to date single mom, Jilly.

Jilly has a nine year old daughter Ollie who is her whole world. Having divorced her husband five years earlier, the residents of the small town of Smile are protective of Jilly. And Jilly is just as protective of Ollie meaning she has to be careful with her heart and who she allows in her life.

Levi and Jilly have known each other since high school. Will they be able to forge a relationship all these years later or has time, distance, and past relationships changed them too much to recapture what could have been?

Thank you NetGalley, Sophie Sullivan, and St.Martin’s Press for allowing me to read the ARC in exchange for a review.

This is a light easy romance that takes place in the smalltown setting of Smile. Levi and Jilly both have things in the past to overcome and I liked that they weren't too heavy or overdone. Ollie is adorable and I love seeing the relationship that develops between Levi and her as well as his with Jilly. The audiobook was a great way to enjoy this story and the narration really brought the characters to life.
