Like Jack Hilton, I'm a born-and-bred Lancashire lass who now has the great fortune to live in Manchester. So when I heard about the discovery of this obscure book - by chance, hidden within the countless treasures of the Working Class Movement Library in Salford - I simply had to get my hands on it. Part-autobiography, part class commentary, part-Modernist experiment, Caliban Shrieks is an essential addition to the annals of working-class literature. Fierce and distinct and bulging with rage, it's miraculous - thank god it was found at last!
