This was a book I read years ago first when got approved for the Netgalley arc and then again later a few months ago when I read 'When I Was Eight'. It touches upon so many struggles all at once: of forging new identities while keeping in touch with what we were before; of family and relationships; of assimilation and culture; and of the harsh truths that led me to the writing of this story. A powerful and poignant read that tugs at heartstrings throughout and one that I can identify with on some grounds at least.

I love how Annick Press is dedicated to bringing authentic voices to stories about First Nations people, This well-written picture book is an excellent example of it.
