I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

The Pandas Child is a beautiful story about a young boy and his connection to the forest and wild animals who live there. One day, a woman falls asleep in the forest and awakens to find her baby gone. After a three day search, the villagers believe the baby boy has been eaten by a wild animal, but his mother doesn't give up hope. After a week, she hears his cries and follows them to a cave where a female panda has taken care of her baby and kept him alive and safe. When the boy is 9 years old, visitors come to his village looking for the panda to take to their master as a gift. When they find her cub and take it from her, the young boy knows he must help this baby the way the baby pandas mother helped him and his mother and return her baby back to her. This was such a beautiful and heartwarming tale with stunning artwork. As a mother, this really pulled at my heart and is a book I will definitely be purchasing in physical format.

I didn't know what to expect when I requested The Panda's Child. It certainly wan't to have my heart broken and my emotions wrecked.

I mean that in the very best way.

The Panda's Child is one of the most beautifully illustrated, emotionally captivating books I've read in a long while. As a mother I was instantly invested; a mother awakens to find her child gone. Her village helps her look, but they soon give up hope. She refuses to do so - she is a mother, after all. She finds her child safe with the forest panda, and it is a mercy she and her village will never forget. The question is: will her child?

The Panda's Child is captivating, beautiful, and just the very best parts of literature all rolled into one. I don't often give five stars, but this book deserves it. The hope and joy Jackie Morris brought me through her story was so touching. I cannot wait to recommend this book to others.
