Rest in Peace overall is a decent thriller. I find the time jumps from past to present don’t flow well and heaves the story disjointed. The characters are like-able but remain predictable. That’s not a terrible thing just a bit more predictable. Overall it’s a good read and if you like a good who dunnit this is for you.

I've read all of the Eva Rae Thomas FBI series and this one was a struggle to complete. Eva Rae's children once again are shuttled off to grandma's or left with Matt while she's trying to rid the world of evil. Matt's son has also been sent off to his grandparent's because Matt is recovering from the injuries he received in the last book. Eva Rae is supposedly having a hard time dealing with her oldest being off to college - this family is a hot mess!! I feel sorry for the kids having to deal with parents who are preoccupied with everything but them. I know it's been that way since the beginning, but the events of this book are too much.

Additionally, I hated how the book went from past to present to past to present over and over again. Way too confusing.

Rest in Peace is another great read in the Eva Rae Thomas series by Willow Rose. It's fast paced and way too hard to put down. There were some odd inconsistencies with Matt's & Eva Rae's relationship near the beginning of the book but things righted themselves by the next chapter.
When Sarah Chapman shows up angry and drunk at her husband's house to find him murdered, everyone thinks she did it. After she's arrested the only person on her side is her friend, FBI profiler, Eva Rae Thomas. But the detective that's on her case has no interest in looking at the evidence because he's already decided that she's guilty.
As more murders take place, can Eva Rae get ahead of things and keep her family safe?

I read Rest in Peace by Willow Rose in less than a day. The author has such a way with words. Poetic and tense. I almost imagine that “little vials of lies” as mentioned in the climax would make for a more appropriate and interesting title. But I suppose that title might be a giveaway lol
There were a few things that I didn’t think seemed logical. First, the detective seemed too protective of Adam, the husband of the deceased. Regardless of it seeming like a suicide, I would assume that he’d check the bullet used before being so ready to back Adam and bash Eva Rae. Second, she’s an FBI agent. When Adam launches at her, she leaves. Not sure of many people who would flinch at a federal agent, but I would have cuffed him, lol.
Alright, don’t pointing things that could have made more sense. Kudos to the author for the ending. I didn’t guess who the culprit was, and Willow Rose did great. Sherry gave us a few possible suspects, which I can appreciate. Nice epilogue and happy to see Eva Rae and Matt are on good terms.

You’ll never guess who the killer is!

Sarah Chapman was accused of killing her husband. The only person who thought she was innocent was Eva Rae Thomas, an FBI agent. Every time you think, you know what happened, you’re wrong. Lots of twists and turns that will keep you guessing all the way to the end. I love the whole Eva Rae Thomas series.

Another good read from Willow Rose. The story is intriguing, and very well written. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves mystery thrillers, and Willow Rose fans will not be disappointed!

Thank you, Buoy Media and Net Galley, for the opportunity to read this book. Thank you, Willow Rose for the awesome Eva Rae Thomas Series, it will always be my favorite.

This book was a little formulaic, but I enjoyed the scene setting that the author wrote. I felt like I was part of the scenes which contrasted with the characters feeling a little hollow. Overall a 3 star read. I still would like to go back and start the series at the beginning and see if I feel the same way about it.

This was so good! My only regret is that this is my first Eva Rae book and now I have to get them all. The story was good with lots of twists!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review!

Rest in Peace is the first book I’ve read by Willow Rose. I really enjoyed it! It was a page turner and had a lot of mystery. There was some twist and turns although I did figure out some of the plot twist. It was still a really good read. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!

Rest in Peace was a whodunnit with people being killed left and right. Unfortunately, it was slow going and became a lesson in page-scanning. Not much was happening; each situation was dragged out with dialogue and repetition.
Those who were supposed to solve the crimes were not the brightest bulbs on the tree. Detective Ryan refused to acknowledge that there was a pattern to these murders. Never mind that there were identical notes at each of the murders. FBI agent Thomas invented lie after lie for her husband and family and then wondered why her relationship was in bad shape.
My believability factor had to be at zero if I were to believe this very contrived ending.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review Rest in Peace.

I love mysteries and had high hopes for this book but was very disappointed. Eva Rae is not convincing as an FBI profiler. She isn't even convincing as an FBI secretary. It's like she has some good skills at connecting dots but has no danger awareness - but this is not to be confused with bravery. If she even watched a murder mystery movie, she could have avoided some stupid mistakes. I was very frustrated with her. The book made the local police officer to be a buffoon - a stereotype that is common in FBI/CIA mysteries. It inaccurately portrayed the way local police and FBI agents interact on scene, completely ignored chain of evidence, created outcomes that wouldn't actually happen in real life. Eva Rae's motivation isn't even strong - are she and Susan friends? Because later she muses that she barely knows Susan; so why would she blow up her life on this quest for the truth? As for her husband, although I can accept that he is having misgivings following his injury, he bounces all over the place. He would have been in mandatory counseling in real life - why couldn't that have been woven into the story? I didn't really enjoy the story because there were so many elements that I felt were just not logical or authentic. The whodunit portion was developed well, though. I was familiar with the actual case that this story was based on and was able to guess the culprit early on.

While I was committed to finishing this story because I wanted to solve the mystery, I found it difficult to stay interested. I have only read one other of the Eva Rae mysteries so I do not know her very well. However, I felt in this story, she did not come across as a strong FMC which was disappointing. Her home drama really pulled me away from the tension of the mystery mainly because Matt’s depression became overwhelming. The portrayal of Sarah’s alcoholism was interesting.

Rest In Peace is the 15th book in the Eva Rae Thomas series. and once again this is a entertaining read and one that kept me turning the pages. Sarah Chapman is found holding the gun and her husband is dead. What follows is a story line that has plenty of twists and turns and the bodies keep piling up. I would recommend this book to this book to those that enjoy thrillers.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher and I am leaving my review voluntarily.

Willow Rose is a prolific author of several series that range across several genre. . Each book is a good, quick read that can be read as stand alones but the series as a whole is better when read in order. Rose brings back all the traits we love in the Eva Rae books and adds in a murder where the suspects are many and the clues few. I had my personal suspect list and managed to get a few right but Rose is famous for her twists that send readers in the wrong direction.

This story is book 15 in the series.
I have only read a couple of them and I knew what was going on from the beginning.

Definitely books that can be read as stand alone.

Eve Rae is a tough agent who will stop at nothing to get
the “bad guy”. She is a mother of four, has a life partner who she adores and her life couldn’t be better.

But there are times in one’s life where you can’t control the narrative and you have to try to deal with what’s in front of you.

Title: Rest in Peace (Eva Rae Thomas FBI Mystery Book 15)

Author: Willow Rose

Genre: Thriller/Mystery

Rating: ★★★★☆
Release Date: 8th May 2024

Willow Rose's "Rest in Peace" is a gripping and chilling instalment in the Eva Rae Thomas series that had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. This thrilling mystery is packed with twists, turns, and a relentless race against time.

Sarah Chapman is furious and drunk as she drives home, ready to confront her husband, Steven. But when a neighbour rushes to help after hearing a commotion, he finds Sarah with a gun in her hand and Steven dead in their bed. Sarah is arrested, but she insists she’s innocent.

The only one who believes her is FBI profiler Eva Rae Thomas, who knows Sarah personally and is convinced of her innocence despite the incriminating circumstances. As more bodies turn up, Eva Rae starts to see connections that others miss, leading her on a frantic quest to prove Sarah’s innocence and catch the real murderer before it's too late and her own family becomes a target.

What I Loved:

1. Engaging Protagonist: Eva Rae Thomas is a strong, intelligent, and determined protagonist. Her personal connection to Sarah adds depth to her character and drives her relentless pursuit of the truth.
2. Twisty Plot: The plot is filled with twists and turns that keep you guessing. Just when you think you have it figured out, another layer of secrets and lies is revealed, keeping the suspense high.
3. Fast-Paced Action: The pacing is superb, with a sense of urgency that propels the story forward. Eva Rae’s race against time to uncover the real murderer and save her own family keeps you hooked.
4. Chilling Atmosphere: Willow Rose expertly creates a chilling atmosphere, with each new body adding to the tension and the stakes. The sense of danger is palpable, making for a truly thrilling read.
5. Complex Characters: The characters are well-developed and multi-dimensional. Sarah’s plight evokes sympathy, and the dynamic between Eva Rae and the determined detective adds an interesting layer of conflict.

Sarah’s drunken state and the ensuing chaos create a memorable and unconventional start to the mystery. This unusual setup immediately grabbed my attention and sets the stage for the unraveling of a complex and compelling case. It made the story different and the character realistic.

"Rest in Peace" is a fun, fast-paced, and chilling thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end. Willow Rose delivers a masterful blend of suspense, mystery, and drama that fans of the genre will love.

Eva Rae Thomas’s determination to seek justice, even when faced with daunting obstacles, is inspiring and makes her a character you can’t help but root for.

This novel is perfect for those who enjoy a good mystery with plenty of twists, a strong female lead, and a race against time.

Wow!

There was no way I was guessing who did this one.

So at the beginning of these books, there is always the point of view of the person of interest. But usually, the first point of view that you read for, is not the person who actually committed the crime. I never realized though, that I would never guess who did it in this one.

I am going to be honest and say that I was really disappointed with Matt and Eva's relationship after what happened in the previous book. Especially at the beginning of this book. If Matt was my husband and all he wanted to do was sit in front of the tv and not do his exorcises, I would have placed the TV remote where he had to get up and get it. But I also believe that tough love is sometimes required. But then, closer to the finality of the book, they are on great terms again.. but they literally didn't even talk it out. Just seems too quick of a turn around for me.

Sarah Chapman is angry at her husband. She’s also drunk… very drunk as she drives down their street, ready to face him. When a neighbor hears the commotion and rushes to help, he finds her inside, gun still in her hand, and her husband, Steven, dead in the bed. Sarah is arrested and taken away but claims to be innocent. The only one who believes her is FBI profiler, Eva Rae Thomas! Good book!! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one! This book had a bit of everything! It had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, mystery, a fantastic who done it and done crazy twists and turns! The story was very interesting! I highly recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
