With Kallie arrested for a murder she didn’t commit, she and Tess need to get down and dirty to find out who actually committed the murder. Will they be next on the murderer’s list? Or will they be able to solve the case and keep Kallie I’m going to the big house?
Having lived in south Florida for many years, this book grabbed my attention with Gasparilla. I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did, but yet here I am looking to purchase the first two books in this series.
"Mai Tai Malice (Kalliope Brooks Mysteries #3)" by Tanya Westlake somewhat felt like the last book in this particular series before it spins off to a new series that's a more PI style one and dual main character lead. Or, it's just a bridge into the next era of this series. Kalliope and her best friend are at the Pirate themed festivities when all of a sudden she's be arrested for murder. She eventually gets cleared of suspicion but still feels the need to really clear herself by finding the true culprit.
In the process of clearing her name Kalliope ends ups up hiring a private investigator. They end up working a bit in tandem. After a couple of red herrings we get to the big reveal. I honestly had kind of forgotten about that suspect, but I also didn't think things were over when they seemed to be wrapped up either.
