Caitlin Moss has a way of crafting characters that feel undeniably real—flawed, complex, and deeply human. Goodbye Again isn’t a story about waiting for a happy ending; it’s about life unfolding in all its messy, beautiful unpredictability.
From the moment Julia meets JP Chapman on a cross-country flight I was pulled into their connection - it was so effortless. But love isn’t always straightforward and over the span of five years, life, careers, and missed opportunities pull them apart, while an invisible string keeps drawing them back together. Julia’s late grandmother, visiting her in dreams, offers wisdom that just might lead her to the truth.
Moss weaves a story that leaves readers emotionally invested—rooting for Julia and JP, frustrated by their choices, and captivated by the journey. With a balance of wit, heartache, and serendipity, Goodbye Again is a reminder that love doesn’t always follow a straight path, but the right person is always worth finding again.

This is a good book. The two main characters are Julia and JP. They meet on an airplane going to Seattle. She is going to a baby reveal of her sister’s and he’s going to a college roommate’s baby reveal, the same one. They spend a weekend together. They decide to be together, it lasted six months. They continue to meet up but something pulls them apart. It goes on for five years. Finally they meet up on a plane, decide they are not going to let anything come between them and their love.

Goodbye Again

“Being with JP was like being vividly conscious of each heartbeat of falling in love.”

This is the type of book that I don’t think you can properly review!! You just have to read it. You have to experience it for yourself. I thought oh this sounds like a cute book….CUTE? No honey, it’ll destroy you Caitlin said 🥹 This book is such a rollercoaster and I never wanted to get off. It’s heartbreaking, I had love butterflies, and anxiety butterflies, it had me smiling and kicking my feet, but also felt like a I would never be the same once I finished 😂 Like did the last 100 pages change my brain chemistry? Yup. I’m so sad it took me so long to read this one, don’t make the same mistake I did!! I loved it after the first chapter and predicted a five star read after the fourth.

“I want the very best for you. And I hope when you think of me it’s all good things.”
I smirk “And I hope I haunt you.”
“You already do.”

It is single POV and I would give up coffee for dual POV, but it did work here. We do get some spice, but it wasn’t overly descriptive, but enough in my option! I think this one could work for the no spice readers (or can at least be quickly passed when reading). The only thing I wish we got was like a bonus epilogue chapter, just more time with them at the end!! Also, if you were a fan of One Day In December definitely pick this one up! I’ll be thinking about it for forever and ever. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I received this book as an arc, but unfortunately didn’t get to it until now, but lucky you it’s out now so go get it! Thank you @netgalley @caitlinmossauthor !

I’d like to thank Netgalley and Caitlin Moss for this ARC! A feel good romance that was beautifully written and I devoured so quickly. Loved everything about this book.

This was such a surprise, but in the best way! I don’t usually read right-person-wrong-time romances, but I absolutely loved this one. I was rooting for the characters the whole time and felt devastated whenever the timing wasn’t in their favor. Their development was so well done, and the side characters were incredibly lovable. I even teared up multiple times!

What can I say about this book, but this was an emotional rollercoaster.
When I started this book I didn’t know if I’d like it, but I enjoyed it so much more than I thought.
I have felt right person, wrong time before and it cuts deep. But I don’t think I’ve read a book with this trope before so that was something new.
What amazing characters, Julia and JP had the best chemistry I’ve ever seen and their story has to be one of my new favourites.
Thank you NetGalley, publishers and the author Caitlin Moss, for sending me advanced readers copy of this book. I highly suggest to everyone that they should read this book.

I absolutely loved this book. It made me feel all the things. Caitlin truly knows how to write a BEAUTIFUL love story. And the spice isn’t overly done, it’s done tastefully. Truly one of my favorite reads

Just wow,... Again another emotional read, is very hard to even have the proper words to define all my feelings while I was reading this book but the characters were very well built and they story was very well developed, I can understand why some people didn't connect personally for me this was a good book and a wonderful story

I loved that this book toed the line of multiple genres while addressing concepts like fate, grief, magic, and different facets of love. It was charming and made me both laugh and cry. Very big thanks to NetGalley for the eARC

In this unconventional but fascinating and emotional new romance novel, Caitilin Moss brings readers to Chicago where two people -- Julia Waters and JP Chapman -- continue to meet in the unlikeliest of places. When a Seattle fortune teller informs them, shortly after their first meeting on a plane, that their futures will be forever entwined, Julia and JP have no idea how complicated the next five years will be because love does not work in straight lines or easy ways. With dream advice from her late grandmother and only her heart to guide her, Julia must trust herself and the advice she receives to discover why she and JP have such incredible chemistry. The characters are, naturally, the star of this unique and fascinating novel, and this romance storyline is like no other in its complications, obstacles, and triumphs. The chemistry and tension between JP and Julia is particularly enjoyable, driving the plot forward and making things more complicated in some unique and fascinating ways, and readers will love the tropes and twists ahead of them. Well-written, emotional, and uniquely compelling, this is an engaging, interesting, and unorthodox romance novel that readers, either looking for a happy ending or an emotional rollercoaster, will love.

Goodbye Again is a heartfelt exploration of love, loss, and the complexities of moving on. The writing is beautiful as it's capturing emotional nuances and creating a deeply reflective atmosphere. The protagonist’s journey through grief and personal growth feels raw and relatable. However, the pacing of the story is uneven at times and the plot occasionally feels repetitive.

2.5 Stars
I had high expectations for this book, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to them. I started out thinking JP would be the perfect romantic hero, but as the story progressed, I found him to be a major disappointment. He came across as a coward, avoiding commitment to Julia even though the chemistry between them was clear. It was frustrating to watch Julia keep waiting around for him to make a decision, especially when it felt like he was stringing her along without truly choosing her.
As for Julia, I really struggled with her character. She seemed overly desperate and caught in a toxic cycle of constantly chasing after someone who wasn’t fully invested. Her actions—like trying to insert herself back into JP's life through his wife—felt manipulative, even if she didn’t fully realize it. It was hard to root for her when she didn’t seem to have the self-respect to walk away.
While the author tried to redeem the situation with some contrived moments and the typical "right person, wrong time" excuse, it didn't work for me. The story felt like it was justifying unhealthy behavior rather than exploring the deeper emotional stakes of the characters. By the time the book hit its most dramatic moments, I was just exhausted by the back-and-forth and couldn’t really find any joy in the supposed romance.
Overall, I couldn’t fully get behind this relationship, and it left me feeling frustrated rather than satisfied. Donovan was the only one who seemed to avoid the emotional chaos, so at least there's that.
I received a complimentary copy of the book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Caitlin Moss is forever a fave, this book was everything I love and adore in her books. She hits the nail on the head every time.

I loved this Book! Thank you @netgalley for the arc of this book. I absolutely adored the FMC and fell in love with the MMC. This is more than your typical romance book. It has heart it has depth, It has character believable character development. It has funny moments, sad moments, ( check trigger warnings) but most of all m, it had. Alive story that you felt on your bones as the reader. This is the first book I read from this author and the way that she was able to make you feel the span of years that went by in such few pages was remarkable. She did an exceptional job at making you feel the longevity of JP and Julia's love. I find that I am able to predict what will happen in so many books. Even though I knew that this would be a happily ever after as it is a romance novel, there is a big turn of events I didn't see coming which had me sobbing. I love being surprised in book! Highly recommend. @netgalley

I fell for this story like Jules and JP fell for each other: hard and fast, "...twisting into my life and leaving marks on every part of me..." I keep trying to find the perfect comparison to sum up how this book made me feel and I think to say reading it felt like sipping a cup of cocoa or a smooth glass of whiskey or a cool drink of water (maybe all of them at different times?) works best.
It's just... so good. *sighs in contented reader*
I love their love, and once again Caitlin has given us a story that doesn't need over-the-top drama to keep things interesting. Instead she did what she does best: writes about life — which can be complicated, simple, ordinary, magic — with characters who have true depth.
And JP and Jules... man, each time they're together it feels as natural as breathing, and reading their love story and getting a peek into their life was such a treat.
This books has:
-right person, wrong time(s)
-airplane meet-cute
-strangers (with shared connections) to lovers
-vending machine fortunes
-invisible string theory
-toe-curling/makes you squeal/like a cozy blanket kind of love
Plus so much more! Wine stained carpet. Couscous. Kevin. Uncle's Ashes. Olive Garden. Ranch and Taquitos. Sexy lingerie "sweats." Plastic egg fortunes.
I feel like I'm privy to the best inside jokes and secrets because of this story!

Thank you Caitlin Moss and @netgalley for this advanced reader e-copy in exchange for my honest review.
📚”Fated to meet.Destined to love.Bound to fall apart.
In Julia Waters’s world, everything is easily explained. Simple, uncomplicated, logical. Until she meets JP Chapman on a cross-country flight, the handsome kindergarten teacher charms her with his wit, humor, and irresistible smile. While spending a magical night wandering the streets of Seattle, the two stumble upon a fortune teller who predicts their futures will forever be entwined.
But sometimes the road to love isn’t a straight line. Over the span of five years, careers, different cities, and missed chances stand in the way of them being together….”
♥️this was my first book by Caitlin Moss and I am so excited to check out more by her. This book was beautiful, raw and a little heart wrenching. The story of Julia and JP was lovely and so real. Timing truly is everything. I was completely invested in their love story and was yearning for them to finally get their timing right.
There was such emotion in this book - Julia’s relationship with her mother left me teary quite a few times.
I hope you will read it and love it as much as I did. @caitlinmossauthor I absolutely adored this book. Thank you for trusting me to be an ARC reader. ♥️ I hope this will become a movie - would make the perfect rom-com!

Goodbye again is the first book I've read written by Caitlin Moss. This book takes you on an emotional rollercoaster.
When Julie and JP meet on a cross-country flight they have an immediate connection that is very sweet. During their first night out together they decided to see a fortune teller who says to Julia "you will have many loves, but most of them will be him". What does that mean??
This book takes place over 5 years and it describes "right person wrong time" perfectly. you will find yourself feeling a multitude of emotions until the very last page.
Thank You @netgalley and Caitlin Moss for the copy of the e-arc to review.

I devoured this one in just a couple of days, it was that good!!! The chemistry of these two was just so on point. I absolutely love the right person, wrong time trope and this was executed perfectly.
I absolutely loved the one liners from Julia and JP. The chance meetings and how raw the feelings and emotions were. My gosh, it was just so beautifully done.
I also adored the dreams with her grandma. It brought tears to my eyes every single time and made me miss my grandma dearly.
I will absolutely recommend this to everyone and I already want to read it again!

I truly don’t think I could ever read anything by Caitlin and not be crying like a baby! This book was no exception and had me weeping until the end!
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, there is something so poetic and beautiful about Caitlin’s writing. I highlighted a good 42% (IYKYK) of this book! So many quotes and feel good moments that I need to remember.
The story and love shared between JP and Julia is beautiful and tragic. So many chances until they finally got it right! I don’t even know what other words or things I can say to describe my love for this book, but please go find out for yourself when it comes out in September!
I’ll never be able to look at Taco Bell the same again! And now I want a tiny taco tattoo to forever remember this book!

This book was overall entertaining and engaging. It definitely took me on a rollercoaster. This was my first book read by this author but I’d read some more of their work.
