I absolutely love anything that gamifies reading - group sprints, bingo boards, themed readathons. I think they're such a fun way to make reading a bit more social and also give us more incentive to work through long TBR piles! My July ended up being incredibly busy with work (long gone are my days of summer camp fun!), so sadly I wasn't able to participate in Camp NetGalley as much as I would have liked. I think it's such a fun concept though and I really hope that it continues in future years!

Than you NetGalley for this fun summer activity.

This was something different and I really liked it. Bingo was fun. Next year a scavenger hunt would be fun.

Camp NetGalley was quite interesting! I didn’t expect to have as much fun with the content but to my pleasant surprise, it actually was filled with fun activities for readers! The Bingo Board was fun to do. I look forward to more activities like this through NetGalley in the future.

I think it might help to have a Q&A portion so that we can remember or know exactly what you would like us to critique. :) I am not sure if I missed where we could maybe join a chat to talk with other reviewers and get to know them! Also, maybe at the beginning have the list of activities that will happen throughout camp and when they are happening so people can plan them easier!

This was such a fun activity to participate in! Thank you NetGalley for continuing to come up with creative ways to engage with books

I added the link below for Birds Aren't Real: The True Story of Mass Avian Murder and the Largest Surveillance Campaign in U.S. History by Peter McIndoe, Connor Gaydos

I requested this one based only on the blurb. I have never heard of the birds are not real movement until now.

I have been converted.

I am all in.

I am also able to laugh at the absurdity of people falling for some of the way out there theories.

This is not a "story" so I cannot review it that way, but if you want to have a good idea of how one can easily fall into some of the "how in the world did they get there" then this is the book for you.

My favorite part was pumpkinhead. Now it all makes sense to me.

I thought this was such a fun way to enjoy reading this summer! I love the idea of an exclusive badge for participating, and I thought the packet was full of fun ideas of how to engage and enjoy the summer camp experience! The bingo board was a particular favorite of mine! I definitely hope this comes back next year!!! One thing you could add is some recipes to pair with different genres of books? Like smores with chocolate chip cookies instead of graham crackers for cozy mysteries best read around the campfire, a cinnamon roll recipe for sticky sweet romance books best enjoyed while in a hammock, etc.

This was such a fun idea! Though I didn't participate as much as I would have liked, I enjoyed viewing all of the activities available, and the chance to get a badge. I hope this will be a yearly event...I retire this year, so I should have lots of time to participate then!

Camp NetGalley was a fun activity. I do wish there was some sort of way for more interaction but it was enjoyable to see everyone’s IG posts!

While I ended up not completing Camp NetGalley this year, I think this is a really great concept. I look forward to hopefully completing it next year. The packet is well designed and adds a bit of additional fun and incentive to work on your NetGalley TBR!

I downloaded Servant of the Earth by Sarah Hawley as a Camp NetGalley promotion title. Entering the fae realm can be a hit or a miss. Boy, when it's a hit it's a hit. Yes, you will hit the traditional tropes in the story, but my feelings are that's okay if nothing new or extraordinary is introduced. As long as the story's pacing and readability/understanding of the world-building is well-written I am going to recommend to my colleagues and friends, which is what I will do with Servant of the Earth. Thank you to PRH and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this DRC.

Thanks for offering such a fun summer camp experience! To fit the theme, my talent show entry is a camp-related book. It's been a great summer!

Thanks for the chance to add a fun twist to my summer reading. The bingo was a fun idea and this definitely helped me focus on my shelf a little more.

Loved this summer challenge! It got me reading books that I'd put off for a long time, and I finished some great overdue reviews. Thank you to Netgalley for organizing!

My submission for Camp NetGalley is below.
As for the Camp, I felt that it was a fun thing for those who had the time. Mine was not my own during this period, so I was unable to participate.
I commend the Bookish team for their clever ideas.

I didn't do as much as I had wanted to with this but I'll try again next year! I think it's really nice that the site does this for its users.

I reached an ARC of The Drowning House through NetGalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. Thank you to the publisher Poisoned Pen Press and Cherie Priest for the opportunity to read and review!

The first half of the book sucked me in, and I was so engrossed in the story. The perspective flip flops between two childhood friends, who return to an area they frequented as children to support their best friend through the loss of his grandmother…when that friend has disappeared without a trace they start investigating and happen upon some magical history to a house they practically grew up in.

The character development was pretty dynamic, and I enjoyed the camaraderie between the two main characters as they dig through the past and present for clues to what has happened to their friend. The supernatural aspects threw me off a little bit, and made the book a little more eerie than I was expecting. All in all I would recommend it as a fast paced, slightly creepy read!

What a fun idea, concept and execution!

Although I had some things that kept me away from most of the month of July (boo!), I was able to jump in at the very end and at least participate in spirit. I now know that the 2025 Camp will be a MUST DO!

Thanks to the Bookish team for putting this together. It is clever and I am now having reader's remorse (is that a thing?) for not participating more this summer.

See you in July 2025!

This was a really fun idea! I always love summer reading challenges and events, I do a reading challenge at my local library every summer and this reminded me of that!

A summer camp for book readers, don't mind if I do! Loved this idea how to get more involved with Netgalley, on social media and get people reading, just wish I had participated in it more than I have this summer. Can't wait to go back to Camp next summer though!

My only critique would be that the instructions to follow along and participate were not super easy to follow - if they were a little more straight forward that would be great!
