Holy heck this had me on the edge of my seat until the very end. The twists and turns were so unexpected and I thought I knew what was happening until boom everything flipped and I had no idea what I had just read but in the best sense of the word.

What a super fast paced,  edge of your seat thriller. Drawn in from the beginning all the way up to the climax. The fate of the country is dependent on the main character, who lost her father in the September 11 attacks. Lots of action and thrills. Left me breathless and wanting more. This does not disappoint.

I was given this book as an ARC from net galley in return for my honest feedback. I was captured by the very first page. I was in 7th grade when 9-11 happened, so I was old enough to understand. Madison was given a chance from the fiery first page to try and save the country again years later after 9-11. The story had so many twists and turns and just when you thought you were done holding your breath, you continue holding it because you just don’t know what’s going to happen. I loved this book, I loved the outcome. The writing was truly captivating.

Star Rating: 4 Stars

Thanks to Netgalley and Raconteur 888 Press for gifting me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

So these kind of thrillers are usually not my thing, but holy hell this was fantastic! It's been a long time since I read a book that kept me reeled in. It was genuinely like a movie. Right when it was starting to slow down, something happened to pull you right back into it. I did feel it was a tiny bit longer than it needed to be but that's more of a personal preference.

I have to say I love the way L.V. Pederson wrote the characters, especially Maddie. Her resilience and strength was absolutely amazing and something to aspire to.

If you love thrillers, conspirary theories and fast moving books, this is the book for you.

Jump into the thrilling world of Nine Minutes Eleven Seconds by L.V. Pederson, a must-read for anyone who loves gripping thrillers with mystery and a touch of conspiracy. In my opinion, perfect for anyone from generation x to the young adult fiction reader. The tale weaves together suspense, action and unexpected turns, leaving readers wanting more.

Main Characters

• Maddie: As the main character, Maddie is hard to like at first. But after understanding her circumstances, you learned to love her quirkiness. Despite her past mental health struggles, she is very intuitive and observant but can be easily manipulated.

I consider it a strength that Maddie consistently seeks help for her problems. Maybe, it is not Maddie who has issues, but those who have been appointed to help her? You decide. Maddie proves that she's capable of extraordinary feats.
• Niles: A complex character whose motivations are clear and less pure. He will solve the case that he has been working on his entire career, be damned the fallout. In my opinion, Niles creates a very dangerous plan involving two very young vulnerable players (Maddie and Will).
• Khan: A character shrouded in mystery. Is he really the mastermind or just following orders from a higher power? Are there more Khan’s in the shadows? Hopefully, we will find out more.
• Will: Acts as a grounding force amidst the chaos yet carries his own baggage. Does he help or hinder the investigation?

Who Should or Should Not Read the Book

Nine Minutes Eleven Seconds is tailor-made for thriller enthusiasts, young adults (only because the emotional age of Maddie and Will is so young), and those who love a good conspiracy theory (most generation xers) and everyone else in between. If you enjoy a fast-paced read that keeps you on the edge of your seat, this book is for you. However, if you prefer lighter, less intense narratives, or find conspiracy theories offensive, you might want to sit this one out.

Plot Summary

Set against a backdrop of intrigue and danger, Maddie, starts a new job, in a brand-new city, trying to make a new start for herself. But her old demons just seem to follow her. Maddie just cannot shake the feeling of being followed. Seeing the same people in strange clothing every day, are they following her? Is she going crazy? L.V. Pederson does any excellent job describing her feelings and explaining her paranoia. You feel sorry the lousy hand she is dealt in life.

Will and Maddie seem to be cut from the same stone. Does Will rise to the occasion or does he only let Maddie down?

Niles has been chasing Khan for years. Is he willing to make Maddie the sacrificial lamb to solve the case? Does he play the “only you can save your country card” on her. You will have to read the book to find out.

My Opinion

L.V. Pederson emphasizes themes of resilience with Maddie and Will. You must give him credit when creating these two characters and all the suffering that they had to go through. The action is non-stop and keeps you on the edge of your seat all the way through. As for Khan and Niles, it was the typical good vs evil scenario. I do look forward to future books with these same characters. Do I detect the start of a series? The storyline has a made for TV series vibe to it.

First, I would like to say thank you to NetGalley and Raconteur 888 Press for an advance reader copy of Nine Minutes Eleven Seconds by L.V. Pederson in exchange for an honest review.

If you’re looking for a fast-paced, action-packed, thriller novel then this is the book for you. Nine Minutes Eleven Seconds by L.V. Pederson peaked my interest from the start and had me hooked from beginning to end. This was a very easy book to breeze through in a few days due to the fast paced nature of it.

The book starts off with the story of how Samantha Dockett is killed by a hit-and-run driver. Fast forward and Madison Maxwell is unknowingly siting in the dead woman’s cubicle at Know, Inc., a data mining company with a Vice President who looks so unbelievably familiar to Madison. As the book unfolds, Madison digs into her four boxes of past research on a man that changed her life for the worst. As a child, she waved goodbye to her father at Boston’s Logan Airport the day before her birthday, not knowing that the plane he was set to depart on would be the American Airlines Flight 11 that crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center on 9/11.

Since that fateful day, Madison has been obsessed with figuring out what happened to Mohamed Attar, the terrorist behind the 9/11 attack, whose body was never found amid the catastrophic destruction of that day. That day changed Madison's life forever and she has lived with not only sadness, but guilt as well, for not telling her father to stay for her birthday and allowing him to get on that plane. After starting her new job at Know Inc., Madison's new boss, T.J. Kahn, smiles and she recognizes the corners of his mouth are strikingly familiar, she digs into her research and believes that he is Mohammed Attar. Madison attends a support group and becomes friends with Will, an extraordinarily talented computer hacker and they begin their research and journey to try to prove Madison's theory about Khan's identity.

Once Madison and Will begin to make progress on Khan's identity the FBI, CIA, and NSA get involved and quickly begin a plot to take down Attar once and for all.

Overall, I truly enjoyed this book and give it five stars, I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Scary plot

This has the very realistic plot of someone trying to shut down our whole grid system. It is the biggest threat to America (and actually most developed countries of the world). It kept my attention from the start to the end.

Madison is still haunted by her father's death on 9-11 and the guilt she feels because of what she thinks is her part in his death, She met a guy, Will, at a support group. Will is impossibly cute, rich and smart. Madison suspects her new boss is actually one of the mastermind sbehind 9-11, a man who supposedly died in the plane attack that killed her father.

Some parts are a little unrealistic, like her job offer that came out of the blue. Some things bugged me, like Will, after a few dates and a replacement phone, had tracking of Madison's phone. But all in all it was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Madison is starting her day with a new job. Nervous, as everyone is when they start fresh employment, she slowly gets into the elevator to begin her day. Madison's dad was a victim of the 9/11 plane, American Airlines 11 - which shapes the rest of her life, including her senior thesis in college. Upon meeting her new boss, she gets this feeling of deja vu, like they had already met previously in her life. She shrugs it off, but eventually figures out that they did in fact meet before. But, where? how? And why is her boss so much of a picture engrained in her memory? Will Madison solve this mystery?

So, I will say that I enjoyed this book overall. The pace of it, the fact that it was a thriller and it was my style of a book. However - I feel like this maybe hit a little too close to home, so I can't give it five stars. I myself thankfully didn't lose anyone in 9/11, but I know thousands who did and I'm unsure how this book would hit emotionally with them. Even thought it was "fiction" - I'm not sure that playing fiction so close to fact is appropriate in this circumstance.

A little bit slow at the start, but half way through it was twist after twist and always kept me on my toes! Never could have predicted the ending but a great way to wrap up the story.

Thank you Netgalley and Raconteur 888 for ghe advanced copy of this book.

I started the book and immediately enjoyed the writing style. About 20% of the way through thd book, I found the story became quite disturbing. To me, anything that has to do with 9/11 is a sensitive subject. I did not like a fictionalized story based on a tragic event. 2 out of 5 ⭐️

Many thanks to NetGalley and Raconteur 888 for permitting me to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Do you like a good thriller, crime story, conspiracy, with chaos, mayhem, and a touch of romance? This book is for you!

The story is well-written and it is easy to understand the personalities of the characters. Everyone from the administrative assistant, Madison to General Petrone, and everyone in between, had a distinct personality that was relatable. Everyone's backstory was important to understanding the emotions described within the book. A lot of time was spent developing these characters, and due to this some chapters were a little wordy.

The intricacy of Khan's ultimate plan took years to perfect, and the detail used to describe what lengths he went to was admirable. His ultimate plan made me more mindful of how vulnerable and complacent we all are,

I can see where this book could cause 9/11 trigger memories for some readers. There are many references to that event.

Thank you, author L.V. Pederson. I look forward to reading your next book!

Thanks to NetGalley and Raconteur 888 Press for an advance E copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was quick to engage with the story and the characters. The writing style made it easy to stay focused throughout the book. I was not thrilled with the main characters, often rolling my eyes at something one of them said. I found it predictable and found my self thinking "seriously" and shaking my head at the climax of the story. I think the biggest thing for me is that there needs to be some sort of trigger warning or better details in the summary of the story.. I feel that anyone who has suffered from the events on 9/11 picking up this book would have a very hard time getting through it and that it could trigger some strong unwelcomed feelings. Over-all, it was a three star book more for the writing style of the Author that the story itself.

A somewhat unsettling thriller…. Hard to read sometimes due to the intense setting/story. Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the chance to preview this uncorrected proof

This book was okay. I really like the storyline and thought it would be interested. This was a new author for me so I was excited. Unfortunately it took a lot for me to get through this. I quickly found that I didn't enjoy the story as much as I thought. Adding fiction to a real life event turned out not to be my type of read.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC !

I did enjoy the mystery .of trying to stop the attack and find out exactly what and when it was.. and who (else) was involved. . I did have a trouble buying into enlisting Maddie and Will for help in encovering the plot.
I would definately read another LV Pederson book.

This was a departure from the mystery/suspense books I normally read, however, overall i enjoyed it.

3 / 5

Plot: In hindsight, I don't know why it didn't click for me that it was about 9/11. It said it was a thriller, this is false. Thrillers build anticipation and anxiety. Anytime there was the premise for that to happen, the next chapter had a revelation that diffused it. I did enjoy the BTS of police work, government investigations etc, the despair of the actions of 9/11 and the speed at which the story progressed. It just felt lacking however, don't feel like there was a climax, just ebbs and flows of a storyline.

Characters: I liked the depth of the FMC and the relationships she was open to building, her desire to get answers and put herself at risk for the greater good. The antagonist was...interesting. As a character, he made me cringe and the author was good in making me feel disgust when he was on the page. Is is weird to say that I wish he was more outright 'evil' , more than the creepy behaviour leading up to the main event; something to make him standout as the villain.

Overall, it did take me 1 week to get through it. Writing was okay, but plot felt flat. A 3rd act plot twist would've given it an extra star.

Thank you NetGalley for giving me this book in exchange for an honest review.
